      Talking about a growing list of ACTUAL red flags; mental instability, slowly loosing touch with reality, animal cruelty. If someone presents multiple signs there should be a mandatory 51/50, Baker, or whatever act for assessment and treatment. Depending on severity, random meetings to ensure adherence to the program. It might seem extreme, but records show that people with mental health issues DO NOT stick to a program. They get level and think, "I feel better I don't need the medication", and thus the cycle repeats.

    My baby sister was diagnosed with schizophrenia, maybe two years back and I tell you from experience that it is the scariest thing that can ever happen to you. I believe that it is on the level of dementia and Alzheimer’s. Not making an excuse for the woman in the video but when they come up with a scenario in their head, they truly 100% will believe in the scenario and there’s nothing anyone can say to make them think otherwise. My baby sister is the sweetest person I know and it makes me cry every time I think about it. I just pray every day that she can get her sanity back and I know that baby who's diapers I used to change not coming back. I cried every day, hoping that one day I would come home and my baby sister would be back to normal. It’s frustrating because in this country is no real help for people that is dealing with mental health issues. Only jail after committing a crime that could have been easily avoidable if they had gotten the help that they needed sooner. I fight for my sister everyday and will never let her mind slip in a dangerous zone because it can easily happen. Please help your family that is going through a similar situation. Its not easy but it will save so many families.

      Because society has taken a "gentle approach" to dealing with mentally ill people. There used to be things called asylums, otherwise known as state hospitals, which housed and treated dangerous but mentally ill people. Then, some individuals got together and felt sad that mentally ill people were locked up in these hospitals and said, "What if we release them all into the communities and let the community help deal with them?" This was called "deinstitutionalization." It's had far reaching consequences that many civil rights / liberal people won't even acknowledge. Instead of working to fix the problems in the asylums, which there were many, they thrust these mentally ill people upon communities that were not even prepared to deal with them.

      @@eloradanan4235 That's fine but people misunderstand me. If the mom was gonna do tough love that's fine. If mom explodes in anger that she'd kill a puppy, that's also fine. If mom gets her committed to a hospital that's fine, if mom thinks she needs to go to jail, that's also fine by me. Killing the puppy was all kinds of messed up.
      But what mom actually does is this: a big over the top love bomb in public, then in private a week later gets an incredibly venonmous nasty tone of voice and shouts that it's too much of a bother to help her. (because she has to "pick up the girls" and "get some paperwork", it seems).
      And she leaves her there for two months before bailing her out. Bail was $10,000 which sounds like a lot but that's only $1000 to the bail bondsman, and they allow you to pay in installments so it's probably more like $150 or something.
      Again if the mom was just going to leave her there because she thought that was best, that's fine, but from all we heard she sounds like an emotionally abusive person to me.

She never exhibited any violence or irrational thinking before those episodes. We had to do a 5150 hold on her. My mom was released with no meds or no future appointments. Not even two weeks later, she went into a local store and attacked the cashier. She told us and the police that her dad told her to do it. My grandfather died almost 7 yrs before that. She was again placed in a mental institution. At that time she wasn't released for 37 days. When she came home, she was diagnosed and was placed on the correct meds. One of those meds was Haloperidol, which Sarra mentioned taking in this video. Mom didn't like how it made her feel so she stopped taking it. Which led to another mental break. Afterwards she was given injections every month instead of daily pills. For 5 yrs she returned to that sweet woman she was before her first breakdown and she remained that way until she died in 2022.

      And Sarra clearly explained to the same police woman who allowed her to wash her hands why her panties were full of blood, because she had taken her trousers off before she killed her mother to avoid blood on it. And the police woman tells her supervisor she doesn't know why Sarra's panties are full of blood. How can this dumb woman work for the police!?

    Sarra lost her appeal on her 25 years to life last year. The prosecution believed Sarra plotted to kill her mum as she was the one to call the police for the dog incident & was given temporary custody of her son. Her mental health problems were acknowledged at trial & the appeal however preliminary tests on the M-FAST for malingering were positive. The defence countered a lifetime of abuse, mental illness & repeatedly being let down by the MH system. The jury believed she knew what she was doing & had capacity at the time. A lot of her statements we heard in this video when the police arrived (along with her hiding) were used against her in the belief she had an understanding it was wrong, even down to her asking her family be moved away when she was taken to the car.
    The Gilbert family have endured an unimaginable amount of tragedy & still have Shannon’s case ongoing. I can’t begin to imagine the trauma & stress.

    • @Adara007
      @Adara007 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +35

      Exactly right. Dr. Sandra Antoniak was the psychiatrist who assessed Sarra Gilbert and he stated with 97 percent accuracy that Gilbert was malingering, meaning she was intentionally faking or exaggerating psychiatric symptoms for the purpose of being absolved of criminal responsibility. He also testified that Gilbert said when police arrived on the scene, she knew they were going to find [the victim] so she got up, went down the hall, felt that her jogging pants had soaked up too much of the blood, so she shed them, [and] went into the bathroom where she washed her hands and sat in the bathtub,” according to the appeal.
      The appellate decision said that “Independent evidence also supports the proposition that defendant possessed more than a surface understanding that her conduct was wrong, including that she hid in the bathroom when police initially arrived at the scene, requested that her family be moved away, stated to detectives that she felt bad about her actions, agreed with detectives that stabbing the victim would still have been wrong even if the voices {she said she heard} had ceased thereafter.”

      My sister is an excellent mother, but when my niece fell and hit her head as a toddler, she jumped back and screamed then froze. I immediately went to scoop up and hold my niece, while my mother grabbed ice.
      The mother just found out her sister more than likely murdered her mother. Her mother who she seemed very close with. After her other sister had also been murdered in the past by a possible SK. The amount of stress she must have felt in that moment is immense.

Then officer Gonzales lets her wash her hands, and when she tells the supervisor about the bloody underwear, never even says that she had just said she had her clothes off while stabbing the mom. Sorry but that officer should never be left alone with any suspect.
    Even at the house it took forever for them to check on the mom, with no idea if she was still alive. Then allowed the suspect to just walk away and into a bedroom where she could have grabbed anything to harm him. Crazy.

      Not only that but the conversation with her superior she's making no sense at all.
      Her underwear is soaked in blood
      Because she saw them when she lifted them
      She's not on her period though
      She didn't ask her, she just says that
      Then she talks about how she was on top of her stabbing her
      She's asked if she got that on camera
      People in this department just do not communicate and when they try they make a mess of it.

      They never got abolished, they still exist in every state; for example, the infamous and almost 100 year-old Bellevue State Mental Hospital in New York State still exists even today.
      The reason that "traditional mental hospitals" are less heavily-relied today on is due to the Johnson-era US Medicare & Medicaid programs making it more inexpensive for persons with mental illness to receive treatment on an outpatient basis.
      Prior to this, only the wealthy (e.g., Howard Hughes, William Faulkner, ect.) could receive outpatient mental health care.

    I feel stupid admitting this, but I've been to a couple psych facilities due to my extreme anxiety, depression and PTSD and let me tell you, I've seen so many patients that act just the way we saw and heard. I felt stuck, scared and helpless being at those places with people that are in psychosis or in a state of delusion. I honestly believe she needs to be in a long term facility.

    Most longterm psych hospitals were closed under Regan for “care in the community.” As no funds were provided, that usually meant people with the most severe mental illnesses either relied on aging parents, or wandered the streets as the disheveled homeless guy arguing with themselves.
    Other countries have more semi-independent programs, where people have their own room or small apartment with some trained supervision, jobs they can handle like watering plants at a garden center, some financial oversight to help them budget and so they are not scammed or taken advantage of, etc.
    But these are very few in the US.
    It would be like if the US closed all nursing homes, then we all complained about the homeless elderly with dementia in the streets, or when tragic things happened.

      Educate yourself. Reagan’s intent was to put control of mental care in the States hands because of the appalling conditions it was in. The states powers that be failed to do their part in most cases and that’s why some states DO have decent mental care but a lot more do not. Don’t blame Reagan when it’s the states powers that governors and senators etc…. Who are throwing resources away on bs.

    • @CarlWidegrip
      @CarlWidegrip วันที่ผ่านมา

      Alright. A “welfare check” doesn’t mean that some is coming over for a chat over tea and cookies. It also isn’t to provide medical assistance.
      It’s a way to try and get police intervention even though you’re not sure if a crime has taken place. Basically like “I’m worried something is seriously wrong could you please check”? If something’s wrong they investigate further. Sometimes the police just gets told to go f themselves.
