    I would love to see an advanced guide with placement advice and tips for fortifications.
    Kind of like a"where to place" for barbed wire and bunkers and why.
    Specific strong point builds and stuff like that.

    Solid video, I’ve been squad leading recently and this video even helps for when command asks my squad to get nodes/defenses up, I know exactly what is being asked

      The easiest way to work with the commander to get nodes as an engineer (in my opinion) is to request a supply truck be spawned at HQ.
      Once there, ask the engineer to spawn at HQ and take the supply truck to build nodes on the back sectors.
      Additionally, a supply drop has 100 supplies, so 2/3 of the engineer's nodes can be built wherever it lands.
      Thanks for watching!

    I've got my beginner engineer training tonight with the 1st Infantry Division clan. This guide provided the perfect warmup to get me thinking about the role. I'm gonna be watching all your guide videos as a lil prep for each training. Thanks!!! 1 year later these vids are still supporting the HLL community 🤠🤙

    There's certainly something to be said about the cooldown effect of the nodes. However, if they are built within the team's lines, (look for the grids marked U.S., German, or Soviet Lines) they will never be destroyed by losing a point on the map in the Warfare game mode.
    This is also a great strategy in Offensive, as enemy Recon cannot pass certain lines until they are on the last or second-to-last point of the map.
    Lastly, dedicating two supply crates, or one crate plus a Support player's supplies, will allow you to encapsulate your nodes in barbed wire. This makes them impossible to be dismantled by anything other than a Satchel Charge.
    It is impossible to overstate the importance of not only nodes, but also reinforcing your Garrisons with Barricades or Bunkers. Especially if they are in the open, or even just in concealment, and not cover.

    You also provided me with some insight on certain things that I wasn't aware of about the class in spite that I'm currently on level 10 for this particular class.
    Thank you again sir for doing this and I hope more people will watch your videos.

  • @Alpha001TMP
    @Alpha001TMP 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    One of the best pieces of advice I can give to prospective engineers, don't block every avenue of approach. If you completely plug up every approach the enemy will just satchel it. Instead of creating a ring of barbed wire that can't be penetrated leave a few gaps for the enemy to use. Why try and find out where the enemy is coming from when you know where they are going instead?

    • @danielnott1058
      @danielnott1058 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly, another tip that adds to this is not only should you do a walk around of the area you are fortifying to understand your needed defenses and chokepoints, but also view it from an attacking angle and from where the enemy is most likely to flank

    • @hysterecles9892
      @hysterecles9892 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another tip: try and funnel personnel to where you want to engage them. Have a machine gun nest in a good position? Create barriers that funnel targets to him.
      Tie obstructions into terrain. Force tanks and vehicles to shift off the roadway to a certain direction: where you placed your mines. And maybe a buddies mines as well. Or, coordinate with infantry and AT squads to create a kill box.

  • @gregggambolputty2884

    I've been playing engineer more and more recently, mostly setting up nodes first and then go sapper or swap with a squad mate if someone else wants to set some up as well.
    The one thing I struggle with is placing defenses. I have no idea were to put what, considering that they are potentially just as much an obstruction for your own team.

    • @NotSenz
      @NotSenz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's mainly what I do as well, especially for Germany. Having the SMG after not needing to build anything is nice.
      Regarding defenses, I had trouble with this at first, but it helps to not overthink it.
      Barbed wire is good on the outside borders of a point or alleyways to slow enemy movement, walls are good anywhere to give teammates more places to find cover, bulldogs are good on roads to stop tanks, etc.
      Lesson I learned is that something is better than nothing.

    • @RockCh4lk
      @RockCh4lk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wire near points, preferably around the outer perimeter of the circle or at chokepoints within the circle.
      Barricades to hide behind and shoot from overlooking an open field. Or barricades can be used to cover a flank. A tip with barricades is that they grow in height when upgraded, which can allow the shooter behind it to stand up getting a better view if they need to look over grass or an obstacle.
      AP mines are great around garrisons and OP's, or chokepoints that aren't covered with wire.

    • @Th3M4k40n
      @Th3M4k40n 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically just don't put large obstructions on friendly roads that would block your tanks and you'll probably be good placing things just about anywhere. But the more you play then the better idea you have of where the enemy typically assaults points from :)

  • @bwc4572
    @bwc4572 ปีที่แล้ว

    Engineers should have the ability to build bridges/planks to cross rivers and or big bodies of water that are too deep for you to simply walk through. Id say a simple placement (1st stage) would be a small plank for troops to use to move on. upgrade to 2nd tier of the plank/bridge could work for transport vehicles, supply trucks, half-track. Lastly, 3rd tier upgrade should be for a full size bridge/crossing for all vehicle types and personnel. I think this would make the game a bit more dynamic when it comes to those pesky water crossings but should pose too much of an issue with the bridge being something the enemy could deconstruct/breakdown on the end or easily blow up making it very easy for AT personnel, granades, and anything stronger to take it down.

    • @NotSenz
      @NotSenz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe that tanks need to go back to HQ to be refill their ammo. Every HQ has an ammo depot, which works different than a repair station.

    I'm a BIG fan of Engineer and play that role 90% of the time. I always start out with basic load out and build nodes. If defending on Offensive mode I will reload the truck and go build a fortress on a key hard point. When in warfare mode I will usually switch out to Sapper after I've build nodes. I'll go back to standard if defenses are needed somewhere. But being able to take out a tank situationally is too tempting.
    Also I find bunkers are never built. The build cost is too high. They need to lower the cost and make them easier to place blueprints for.
