The biggest difference between EU and USA is that in the EU usually the people comes 1st, that is why you have free healthcare, education, healthier food and so on. By saying that, does not mean that EU is better than USA, it depends of what it drives you, if what makes you happy is succeeding businesswise you have much better chances in the USA than in Europe. If working for you is just a way of making a living and you have other interests, than Europe is probably better for you.
I totally get you, i am a culture lover too and whenever i travel all i want is to get to experience a different culture.

    Meaning of the word "Culture":
    - In the USA = a way of life (fast, easy and CHEAP);
    - In Europe = knowledge in, and appreciation of history, geography, literature, painting, Arts in general, cuisine, etc.

Pizza is an American Italian invention. Sure people took the flat bread formerly known as pizza in Italy too and thought "huh I could see some shit to this to make it better" but those same Italians who immigrated to America commercialized an otherwise home meal. Thus America is the official birthplace of pizza and why Italian pizza and american pizza are astronomically different, and I often consider American style pizza quite a bit better sometimes but depends on the pizza.

You can't compare a continent with 44 different countries with their own culture, language, religiondifferent history, different politics... With one country. What’s annoys me about this video that you are reacting too is the US vs Europe, Europe is a continent, not a country. Whenever Americans compare them I feel like they’re not recognising that we have individual countries with individual histories and cultures.
He talks about how things are different in two countries vs two parts of the US where US things can be the same and I’m thinking of course they’re different, your talking about two different COUNTRIES not a part of another country.
If you are in a European country, you will likely notice we have similar or sometimes chains in different towns, same with US.
While if you go to a different European country, those chains and shops will be different, just like if a Americans steps into Canada or Mexico and notice shops they that they don’t have in the US or not common

Working hard does not mean working good, I am Portuguese German with a dash of French, and my grandpa use to tell me, and my mom, still, tells me, "if you are doing something do it right, or else you will have to do it again". Europeans extract more from their work and not just "work for a living" that is a myth, because productivity is where you see what work is "worth", not in hours, and if an American works more hours than an European and as more productivity, that just means an American produces less with more hours because the differences are minimal. And European cultures are different, I am a stickler with time and appointments, and in Portugal people are annoyingly relax about it, but, in the other side of the "coin" Portuguese are much more quick to adapt to different or unexpected situations than a German for example, and that is one of the reasons, I think, why the seamless confusion of the EU works so well, because we complement each other.
Anyway as for Americans they are loud and sometimes annoying but, unlike some other non Europeans, they understand when you teach or explain to them a behavior is not considered correct for us, they learn, and they are usually nice people with kind hearts. So, the only advise I would give any American (edited "American") visiting Europe is, chill, think, and ask, and for Gods sake when someone calls an ambulance for you, it wont cost you a fortune, last year at the beach here where I was, a lady was clearly having a heatstroke and needed to go to the hospital and get some treatment, and she did not wanted an ambulance, and the lifeguard just called the INEM (emergency services) and took her off to hospital, she was, of course American. She probably paid around 20 euros for ambulance and treatment, if she did at all. Chill, and if you are sick go to a health service, that is indeed an annoying American trait. Oh, and at least here in Portugal you can talk to a police officer and ask for help or even directions, he or she will either help you or tell you where you can get help.

We here in Europe don't believe in ''working harder'', we believe in ''working smarter'', having time off from work; be it through vacation, weekends, less work hours in general or otherwise is proven to increase efficiency of a worker, while the opposite has proven to decrease efficiency. If your work horse is going at 100% none-stop all the time, the work horse is going to get both mentally and physically drained to the point where it just says stop, along the way more mistakes will be made due to being overwhelmed and stressed out, which just makes extra work and hassle. Here in Europe we have understood the secret behind working efficiently to improve maximum potential, even taking a 5-10 minute cup of coffee to chat with collegues about none-work related things in-between tasks improve the level of efficiency a worker can put out, becuase it gives their brain time to re-adapt and allign more efficiently towards the new task ahead.

Also less stressful because of the safty feeling here in Europe. Noone here, at least in Germany would think "I have to buy a gun to protect myself.". Also I think here ppl talk way more respectful to other ppl like they do in the US. Here u can say I work at McDonalds, without getting a bad look from other ppl. You can't compare to US and Europe as a whole with each other. There are a lot of differences between East, North, West and South Europe
The biggest difference is between the East and the rest of Europe. So I'm going to speak for the Netherlands.
We live in a welfare state. This means that even kids from poor families get the same education as rich kids and almost the same opportunities to make something of themselves. People who want to begin a business get help from the government. Until your 18 all schools are free. After thst it is cheap. Parents who can't afford it can apply for government assistance. Healthcare insurance is universal and around 150 euro a month witha 380 deductible.
Every citizen gets the same high quality healthcare. If you can't pay your healthcare or/and rent to government assist you and pays a part of it depending on your income
My country is safe. Schools are open and most have no fences around the school yard. Kids and parants don't have to be afraid.
We don't have homeless tent cities. The whole problem is very minoe compared to the US.
Our drug problem is minor compared to the US I can walk on the street in the middle of the night without being scared.
Fresh food is cheaper than fast food so everyone can eat healthy. The people in my country who you see at the food bank are all in debt. Most by taking on to much loans or overspending. You can live even if you are on welfare. People on welfare and their kids are getting reductions for sportclubs and many cities have projects to help kids with a tablet they need at school and a bike to get there.
Furter more, if you earn 100, 000 euro a year you can lead a very rich life in the Netherlands wchich is not the case in many states in the US..
I can go on and on but i won't. We have a minimum of 4 weeks vacation, 36 our workweeks and working rights. It is not much different than in Sweden where you live.
The US is a beautiful country with very nice people No matter if they are democrats republicans or deranged Trump supportes. The nature is breathtaking
But my gosh, i thank god every single day i live in the Netherlands
For me those differences are far more important. That the US has no cultuur is nonsens. The US is a lot younger but if i look at food, art and music the the Us has a very rich culture.

Many things (or all things) that are named as US culture are created to make money. A lot of people would say that makes it, not cultural. It isn't spawned naturally or because of the way people progressed through life in America. It exists because someone had a business idea. Hot dogs, Halloween, Superbowl, black friday etc; it's all meant to generate money in a cheap/effective way. Making a pasta dish in Italy had nothing to do with commercializing. It was meant to be the best dish and therefore people would pay for it, or simply enjoy it at home. The monuments and artworks aren't made only to "spice up the city" or promote something but rather because of historical reasons and because it means something to many.

I think a big difference in culture between the US and Europe in a way that there's much more different cultural aspects in Europe in the same space is that in the US it didn't have the time to develop before globalisation properly kicked off.
I'm 100% sure if European settlers had settled America in the 11th century, the US would have a similar diverse cultural history just like Europe.
Instead if you look at the US history, there was barely any time to develop unique cultural tidbits. European settlers came in and brought a lot of European customs with them. They merged with native Americans, they imported African slaves and ultimately merged with them as well.
But there's not a completely different and unique culture in San Francisco vs New York like there is in Bavaria vs Lower Saxony for example. And the reason is simple: Even though these two places are physically apart from each other, they didn't have time to be technically apart from each other. Because as soon as San Francisco was founded, they built railroad tracks. And they had a direct means of communication. Soon after they had airplanes, telephones, Radio and TV. Between the founding of San Francisco and the invention of Radio are less than 150 years. Which means, when someone develops something unique in New York - a song, a recipe, clothes, whatever - it could reach San Francisco in a day or a week tops. And that way there simply isn't time to develop unique cultures because everything is merging with each other all the time.

When I was working in France (I still live there, retired) and as you mentioned eating French fries in your car, the lunch break for me meant rushing out to do the shopping for the evening meal, buying and eating a sandwich in the street, and packing my shopping in the communal fridge to take home later. If I had a rush job to do at work, order in and eat at my desk. There are more and more people eating in the streets and those leisurely 2-hour meals are mostly a thing of the past, unless you are hosting big brass for a contract.

I don't see in KFC and McDonald's USA at all and I will tell you why , when mc or kfs opened in Europe all major company's from outside try to go with every country tradition, let's say it is a US company but all products mixed with traditions come from that country they moved. I can see it's a constant battle between us but on the end all of us are humans 😄

@@arnodobler1096People don't understand that democracy and communism are the greatest utopias. Tell me the name of one country where people have the final vote. Elections are made for people to believe they can choose or change something. Big corporations are running the world with their hands in every jar: military, pharmacy, agriculture...It's all just a game of Monopoly- fight for money and power.

Trust me, no country is democratic. Because at the end of the day, politicians choose what they want and people have no say in it apart from some crappy voting elections that are corrupted.

Yet, the Halloween holiday has its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (a Gaelic word pronounced “SAH-win”), a pagan religious celebration to welcome the harvest at the end of summer, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.

Children have much more freedom, not being watched all the time by their parents. At a young age they get more responsibility and are happier. In The Netherlands we don’t have a culture that all children should become professors or lawyers, we want them to become whatever they want as long as they are happy. Therefore less pressure.

Indeed, we have imported a lot from the USA besides goods.😂 Halloween, Black Friday... However, comparing the whole of the USA with Europe does not make any sense. Even within the USA, there are a lot of differences. Likewise, in Europe (the continent) or the EU (European Union) and then further down to the countries... Even within a country (for example, Germany 🇩🇪, there are differences, depending where you live.
