Still using my original airpods pro and I’m definitely ready for an upgrade. When I was watching the presentation and heard “2x noise cancellation” it was already an instant buy for me. I almost feel like the noise cancellation on my current pros has degraded over time. I ride the bus a lot, to and from class, and more noise cancellation is definitely a needed perk.

The only plausible reason why people are updating is because the old one has lost its battery capacity significantly.

New driver hoping for better sound, new H2 chip, longer battery life, new volume control, transparency mode that doesn’t kill your ear drums, new case with a few new features and better ANC could plausibly be more plausible reasons to upgrade.

I will love to see tests of how the "ear scan" really affects spacial audio performance. I can't imagine the shape of your external ear makes an enormous difference in what an in-ear canal earphone can do.

It’s not an AirPods Pro 2 only feature it’s been on the iOS 16 beta for a while now unless they disable it for older AirPods now… it uses the Face ID true depth scanner for your outer & inner ear as best as it can.

I'm may be completely wrong, but I assumed the scanning of the outer ear allowed it to get an idea of how you hear sounds in real life and adapt the in ear speaker to fit the way you hear naturally.

Not sure how good the new adaptive transparency mode is, but I have a feeling that they’ve secretly added it to the original AirPods Pro to experiment without telling us. I’ve been using the transparency mode on AirPods Pro for a long time and I’ve noticed that whenever really loud noises like sirens or construction sounds occur, the noises suddenly become a bit quieter half a second later.

My 1st gen pros are getting buzzy after a few years, no water damaged just deteriorated overtime. Apple has a 3 year warranty program that covers the buzz but i was out of that time frame. So wondering if the 2s are a buy vs a cheaper alternative the beats buds

so I got the beats buds cause my AirPods Pro 1 were stolen not too long ago, and don’t get me wrong, the beats buds sounded pretty good. A very bassy and bold sound when it came to music although imo it lacked in the mid department and the ANC and transparency modes were no where near to being as good as AirPods Pro. Also the comfort wasn’t there for me since beats buds don’t have the thing that gets rid of air pressure in your ears when you use them. I ended up returning the buds and ordered AirPods Pro 2. Mic quality was also a factor to me as you sound more clear using AirPods Pro for calls and such

Hmm, well what I was waiting for was a better audio quality I’m talking about lossless here, which I realize is unlikely… but one can always hope, that apple will eventually create a audio standard that will allow for lossless to transfer over a Bluetooth /wireless type connection…but I may still buy a new set of AirPods Pro.

    • @phillipschuman4307
      @phillipschuman4307 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I too want the lossless support (and hope it comes eventually), but I'm fairly sure it cannot make any noticeable difference in the tiny drivers of any AirPods. Maybe in the AirPod Max models when they support it, but maybe not then, either. It might take actual high quality real speakers to have a chance to hear it, and even then, only with critical listening with an A/B switching comparison, or for the 'golden ear' audiophiles. Still want it, of course, but I expect it will be very hard to hear the difference.

One thing I really don’t like about the AirPods Pro (1st gen) vs. my AirPods (2nd gen) is that they have probably literally half the battery life. They seem to drain quickly and the case also has to be charged way more than the normal AirPods.
I can listen to stuff while I’m working with my AirPods 2nd gen for about 4-5 hours without having to recharge. The case rarely goes dead, I only charge it because I think “they probably need to be charged”. The AirPods Pro (1st gen) on the other hand, I’ll think they have 2-3 more charges left, I’ll put the earbuds in only to find out when I need them that the case was dead.
    So battery life sucks.
Noise cancellation is the ONLY reason I prefer the pro’s in certain situations. But I find it only seems to work well with constant, droning sounds like fans or traffic. On the contrary, when my dog is going nuts and barking his head off, it doesn’t seem to cut that out as it’s loud and sporadic.
I don’t really get the whole spatial audio. Never cared whether the audio pans with my head or not. I know I’m listening to music or a movie, I don’t need simulation of where the sound is coming from.
Finally, I find the AirPods (normal) are a lot easier to slip in and out of my ears; the rubber on the pros seem to get caught if I pull them out quickly. They also take more adjustment when putting them in to get a good fit.
The wireless charging also sucks- sometimes I wonder if it is even working. If the wireless charging is so slow that I give up and grab the wire, then it’s pointless.
So all said and done, unless the battery life is much improved and the noise cancellation is way better, I would truly rather just stick with the original AirPods, they seem to be generally superior, they’re way cheaper and they fit my ears better.
The pros mostly seem to be a novelty unless you’re someone that really needs noise cancellation and are willing to sacrifice battery life and comfort.
    That’s just my take.

I had the chance to directly compare the 1st Gen AirPods Pro and 1000-XM4's, haven't tried the XM3's.
The XM4s beat the 1st gen AirPods Pro in nearly any point (at least for me): sound, battery life, ANC.
Theres only two points where the AirPods were better, transparancy mode and comfort.
