Unpopular Opinion | Should you cook rice with salt or naw? 👀

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 1 พ.ค. 2024
  • ✨Before y’all question my cooking skills…👀 Growing up we always put salt in rice but once I hit high school I stopped. I learned it’s the sauce that makes the rice taste good and as long as that was seasoned well, no need for extra sodium. My mom disagreed with me for years but guess who doesn’t add salt anymore 👀.
💡When it comes to sodium it’s not the healthiest to consume. So I try to make adjustments where I can and not adding more salt to my rice is one of them.
✨Try it out, trust me you won’t notice the difference once you add your sauce to it.
Team salt or no salt on rice?

Salt isn’t all bad for your body it’s a necessary nutrient. I think people should stop using seasonings that have salt added then just not using salt all together.

Exacto! We cannot have life without salt. Salt is biblical, even. As is milk and many other things they want to demonize. The Bible is the truth in all things, we just need to decide who we will believe.

That's what I do, Misha. Sea salt + salt free seasonings. Mrs Dash is a popular (and tasty) one. If I am using a seasoning with added salt, I'm not going to bother adding sea salt to a dish. I almost always add Mrs Dash to my seasoned rice (and veggies).

Even better, cook it and put in the fridge for 12 hours before consuming, this will allow the starches (carbs) to become resistant and not raise your blood sugar when consumed. Also, eat with proteins and fiber (hence your stew, etc) and it will slow down the glucose entering your bloodstream via digestion.
Believe me, I love me some rice, but I have learned to control my blood sugar (diabetes) through diet, activity, and balance.

Your body needs salt for every function in your body. Its table salt like Morton's andbprocessed and fast foods that is bad for you. A pinch of Himalayan is excellent for your body. Even a piece of dulse or kombu seaweed and bay leaf will add chlorella and other nutrients, while adding a natural subtle salt plus umami goodness.

Salt is biblical, sis. Do avoid refined, white salt but get you some pink salt or grey Celtic salt. Life cannot form without salt. Don't eat packaged food with sodium but cook your own food and add unrefined salt to taste! Your taste buds will tell you if it's too much, the Father doesn't make mistakes.
