There are thousands of these Stone circles all around Africa, you'll find the oldest one in South Africa at a place called Mpumalanga, its called Inzalo ye Langa(The birth place of the sun) otherwise known as Adam's calendar it dates back between 70 000 and 150 000 years.
Thank you National Geographic for uploading this wonderful video. It would have been nice to see the full clip. The Serer people of Senegambia built these stone circles for religious purposes etc. It is called the Cult of the Upright Stone. You can find out more by reading on Serer religion and Serer ancient history in wiki.
@food forthought1 I think @10Ady09 merely ment to point out that geographically, that is the area the megaliths are located. I doubt that he was making a political statement.
@food forthought1 europeans did not carve this. What u know as Europeans are only about 6000 yrs old if that compared to africans they got 300,000 yrs on u srry. Js
Isn't it very strange that National Geographic or the History Channel doesn't present these intriging , insightful facts about Ancient Africa on Prime Time Television as to help to destroy the racist negative stereotypes that Western people believe about Africa ?
It is not about curses, but respecting other cultures. Ancestor worship is common in most religions. I find it really arrogant that we need to know so bad that we are willing to defile the past. Just because it is not sacred to you does not mean you can have it for your own purposes. I don't want my old bones in a museum. Why do you think they are buried?
it's very simple that the stone found in Europe Where of the First settlers that are the african but they won't admit because of European bride but many places are populated by people of color before the white a good example is America before Columbus , Australia,India
It's nice to discover Ancient Africa's history on TH-cam , but it's also very insulting to Americans, especially to African Americans who can't have their ancestral heritage displayed in a serious way on all media outlets the same as European white peoples history are done on a 24/7 basis .
I have real eyes dat Europeans since dey can't find their origin dey are busy looking for demselves all over de world n to their horror dey only find black people's bones . Indigenous people of dis world are not worried of their origins n how earth came to be cause already in our DNA everything is encoded n we are in constant communication with our ancestors on a cellular level .
just out of curiosity, so you arent interested in knowing how the pyramids, baalbek, or stonehenge was built? or how the mitchell hedges skull was manufactured? if so what does interest you?
Why would you mess with those graves? Surely the people who took the effort to move stones like that would have also put a curse on anyone who tampered with the grounds.
It's quite logical to say that there is a commo0n origin of all the thousands of stone circles around the world, and therefore, they must have served a common function. Perhaps they may have been used as funeral grounds for more recent cultures - although most are not associated with that practice.
the explanations offered on how they built the pyramids are sub par. We may agree to disagree on that but their explanations leave many many questions, such as how they aligned them with stars with greater accuracy than gps can offer today. Also they age they give do not explain the water erosion on the sphinx. If you still thing that their explanations explain how they were built research coral castle, that man knew how they were built and the city he built was not made just using man power.
"Sup?." "Not much, I'm just going to my mom's funeral. Again." :] Interesting ... I wonder what kind of spiritual believes they had about death and why they were so particular about arranging certain bones like that.
Surely they're not going to dig up all of the graves, as for the curse thing... eh... I doubt it, revealing the beliefs/practices of the tribes is more of a gift than a crime.
Not that anything you said is relevant, but I am finish up my bachelors degree in electrical engineering and I enjoy what I am doing. The fact still remains that nothing we learn from this type of research is the least bit interesting to me. I couldn't care less what a group of people's burial rituals are or were.
Then why are you on this forum? Who cares what you are doing in life? Others are interested in the burial rituals of different cultures, the reason they are here. Not to listen to what you you are interested in. You serve no purpose here.
I think stonehenges across the world were built by ancient Muslims to show the direction of the Kaaba. And it is normal to have graveyards near a mosque. Scientists Must have thought also thought this but they will never tell us. Bonus: 98% of senagelese are Muslims.
It is interesting to know how they were built, but once you know, what's left? They have reasonably good explainations for stonehenge, the pyramids and the structures in this video are pretty easily explained. There are some things I still don't understand, and therefor find interesting, like how the crystal skulls you mention were constructed. It's just the things that are obvious are kind of boring I get tired of.
I used to find this stuff interesting, but recently I have come to a different viewpoint. We are not going to learn anything I would consider important from this type of work. They were just varying people that had varying ceremonies for their dead. I guess when I was young I always had a thought that something "supernatural" could be involved. Now that I am older and realize that isn't the case, it isn't interesting anymore.
15 years ago you made this comment. How are you now ? Tucker Carlson dun a intresting video about the super natural recently. His channels pretty good he had a great chat with the Scot neal Oliver.

It seems it was their ancestors who build it and not much is written. Unless you have a link
This is The Gambia, where the idea of Stonehenge was taken from

lol you mudhutters think you built these ?!
Having complicated civilizations in Africa goes against the evolutionary paradigm and so gets ignored.

Is this channel secret or something? These National Geographic clips are great!
You dont need to be a genius to see that these people were slaughtered. 1:05 "They didn't bury their dead all at once".
There's proof Stonehenge was built in the 1900s.
Why allowing this Devil's to be digging up our sacred places

Stonehenge also has a circle within a circle but they only found one grave site there of a man who was killed with an arrow.

The are simillar stone circle in South Africa.
The stones that Joshua spoke about?????
That dude has some sweet glasses.
I have the answer, they built them to keep their goats in one place. It kept them cool and out of the sun, this is the reason for their height.
@mrtundra45 How much of Ancient African History have you learned so far by watching Television in your lifetime ?
