30 minutes in Kannapolis N.C!!!!!

Come along with Fasha as he finds himself in "K-Town with 30 minutes to kill.. As luck would have it, he catches three northbound trains, one with old Southern MoW equipment that is still in use. First up is NS-156 Savannah GA - Linwood NC lead by NS 9122 (C40-9W)with NS 9602 (C44-9W) trailing. This train now travels Savannha to Augusta. Up next is NS #154 Macon GA to Linwood NC lead by NS 2743 (SD70M-2), NS 8892 (C40-9W) & NS 1171 (SD70ACe) trailing, interesting lash-up. Just when I thought I my short time trackside was done, NS #914 a "Rail Train" came by lead NS 9737 (C40-9W) and what a catch! An old Norfok & Western boxcar was providing safety to the locomotive and what would you expect on the end? Old MoW (Maintence of Way) equipment with orginial SOU (Southern Railway) markings!!!! It was a great 30 minutes!!!!

this is THE place to watch trains in kannapolis. You can't beat being so close to the tracks with such a great view in both directions.

You were almost exactly across from where I used to live when I first moved my family to K-town six years ago; you were a half-block down the street, give or take. We rented a house in that row of mill houses on North Ridge Avenue across the tracks from the parking lot you were standing in at the NC Research Campus. This was an everyday occurrence for us for two years, something like eighteen trains a day, including NS, NCDOT, and Amtrak.

First one sounds empty to me. Second one had a bit more weight on it. Last one was loaded for sure. Funny that the heaviest had one engine.
