I played in the beginning but then bailed after the first few gardening events had me click every individual flower and butterfly monotonously. My grievances stacked even more when they introduced QoL locked under subscriptions, so to know that all that BS is tossed out the window and the full experience is given out at a flat price, it rekindled my interest in this game again!
You're the second person to specifically mention the horrible gardening events and I completely agree, those were rather tedious! I'm looking forward to seeing how those who have paid for a subscription enjoyed the game this entire time!
The fact that they're taking this game offline makes me think the next mainline Animal Crossing game on the Switch 2 will be a live service game filled with constant updates and downloadable content. I could see it coming out earlier in the Switch 2's life - by the end of it's 2nd year at the latest.
Agreed! I've been saying we'll see the next AC game very early in the Switch successors lifecycle, and if they could pull it off it would be a massive console seller if they released it on the new console day one. ACNH brought in so many new people :D
They aren’t really taking it offline I don’t think, we can still interact in a way with our friends and have a friend list. We just can’t sell anything anymore. We still technically give items.
@@genthedollFrom what I understand, your QR code allows your friends game to load up an npc of your character and fave animal, wearing the items you chose for your camper card. The npc we collect will all gather in the new area and will sometimes give gifts, you will not have control over this, it’s like a random drop from an npc for your friends. The game will be offline and will only need to connect for occasional updates (like maybe after iOS updates, etc). Basically, I think the details about your character and style options you select for your camper card will be stored in the QR code, so it should not need to connect online to add them, just find those items in the game database to create the corresponding npc.
Honestly, it makes me want to actually play it this time. I feel like i missed a lot of stuff which is why i dont play it. But, this way i can catch up on everything. And at no extra price. I love games that dont have microtransactions. Hopefully, this can be a little game i can play on my phone instead of scrolling on tiktok.
Ive been playing from the start and have amassed alot of items without paying a dime. The one thing i dont like is, if im decorating my campsite with all my neat items and creativity....friends arent going to be able to visit and see it or me to see theirs. Isnt that what the game is about ? Im not sure if ill be purchasing, but for $10 i may just incase they add a way to visit in the future.
Hmm that's a good point, I didn't even think about the campsite visits. I may be misremembering but that was always "offline", right? Like technically you and your host weren't running around in real time? Maybe they could also include a "save" of your campsite to your player card...although I'm not sure how much that would take to do

I've been playing PC religiously since its launch, and I'm quite excited about this new version. I'm glad to see that we get access to items that required leaf tickets and features locked behind a pay wall. My only 2 concerns are the price (though honestly, I'm fine with paying $9.99 for a game I've been using for free for 7 years), and getting Friend Cards via the QR code. I don't know anyone irl who also plays this game, so I don't see myself adding anymore friends.
I feel like if it was almost any other game I would not be paying for it at all, but because it's Animal Crossing I'm all on board xD I also don't really know anyone who plays IRL! I'll be adding everyone online through Discord probably :)
What scares me is how 'fragile' the save data is now. I liked going back and forth between phone and tablet, but now it can only be on one device, and, according to their site, if you delete the app, the save data gets deleted too. I'm torn on whether I should buy or not. They were very generous with leaf tickets and I never paid a penny for any of it. I guess I might, cave in when time comes.
That is a little concerning, I hadn't fully checked out the site yet! I was assuming it would be save data "tied" to your Nintendo account, so in the future if you got a new phone or something you could simply re-download the app and then enter your Nintendo info again...

Just like other comments stated: I joined at launch and basically left pretty soon thereafter as QoL content was aggressively pushed onto us, yet put behind a paywall. It was so unbelievably defeating when other users had these incredible islands and here I was... broke... with nothing to present... I appreciate the introductory pricing, but 19.99 is insane, considering that this won't invite new users imo, making the game die out eventually unless they change the pricing later... So I wonder if it is worthy in terms of longevity
I'm thinking in terns of keeping the game alive rather than just outright bringing it down, this is good. But you're definitely right, this won't be a game that is welcoming (from a price point and just a generally entry point) to newcomers
My question is if you can go back and purchase fortune cookie items outside of the events then does that msan the storybook dissappears. Before you used to have to try and get the top item to unlock the story attached to the fortune cookie. I like being able to choose what I collect but I also would miss the element of surprise

A week later NH came out and that was fun but seeing what PC was getting was pretty frustrating cause it looked so cool. After seeing the trailer I am very excited for PCC, and decided to hop back in for the final month.
Do we need to open all the animal maps or will they be transferred? I have alot of maps that i have not opened because of the leaf tickets needed . I have not seen this addressed anywhere.

I'm still confused about the data transfer. How do we know it worked if the OG Pocket Camp ends service before the new one starts? 😅 I'm not tech savvy by any means, so that part is stressful. But other than that, this is a lot more promising than what they hinted to at first! I've been playing ACPC since launch, it's my fave mobile game by far so knowing I can have it longer and I get to enjoy some features that were only available to the subscription is fun. I'm definitely preordering it soon!!! I'm so glad they found a way to extend the life of this game, it would have been heartbreaking to lose 7 years of time, effort and love had ACPC just disappeared into the void.
I'm hoping that it's just as simple as making sure your PC account is tied to your Nintendo account, and then booting up the new PC Complete! I imagine once the old one goes offline they wouldn't just dump all the data for everyone's accounts right away I love that you've been playing for so long, you must have a really cool campsite!

I’ve been playing pocket camp since it came out in 2017! It was a perfect game and now it’s being taken away and replaced with a cash grab?! This is ridiculous. Nintendo is a wealthy enough company and there were already paying options within the game. This makes no sense other than Nintendo being money hungry.

Well, they did fix that by allowing you to collect all the butterflies and flowers at once.

They said the only way to transfer to new device is to transfer it again to nintendo account temporarily for 7 days and then bind it to new
