I remember her on October 23 1994 she was running from Asheville to Spartanburg and back on saluda grade I was there lucky to be there she is very beautiful and pretty locomotive
Thank you very much for posting this video!!! I got the opportunity to ride behind 611 during the Independence Limited 1992 trip from Richmond, IN to New Castle, IN with my mom. I got acquainted with the 611 back in the summer of 1985 as I was playing outside with my niece and looked up and saw a big cloud of black smoke and moments later the sound of her whistle was very unique so that following year in the summer of 1986, with a chicken leg in one hand, me and my niece rode our bikes down to the tracks to see the 611 once again traveling through Richmond, IN with the Muncie Flyer. This video brought back alot of memories for me and unfortunatly my mom passed away in July of 2003 and looking forward to the day of having the opportunity of riding the 611 once again and blowing her whistle in her memory because I know that is something that she would want me to do!!! I have been into trains since age 3 and was a brakeman for the Whitewater Valley Railroad in Connersville, IN for almost 3 years!!
Thanks for posting this I’m 16 now and when I was 5 to 8 I would watch this every time I went to my grandparents house on their VHS tape and then it stopped working and I couldn’t find any replacements on VHS or dvd and I have been searching for years and plus this film is what got me into steam locomotives and she is my most loved locomotive so thank you
And saw her I did. In May of 2021 when I had the opportunity of a lifetime to run the mighty 61 at the NC Transportation Museum. A day I hope to tell my future kids about.
