Do the coaches on American Idol only give advice like Mariah did here, or do they also do vocal exercices and go through the songs over and over again with the contestants until just before the live shows? Because that's how they do it in Belgium. But here it's only with famous Belgian singers, never with international singers. I can only imagine what it would be like working on your voice and singing with Mariah Carey....
I watched this entire season recently, some I knew would go far, but I'm surprised some of them ....carly was off key here, big time..she's not even on the melody of the song..., even Brooke, she was off..,I can see why David Cook won,..

Mariah was asked to write a song for a movie soundtrack at the time, and Gloria was the intended artist. Since she was writing for another singer, she toned down a lot of the vocal complexity that was usually in her songs at the time. But when Tommy Mattola heard it, he told Mariah to keep it for herself.
Additional info. Mariah wrote Hero with 3 different versions. One for Gloria (a simple and easy one), the studio version (the moderate one) and the difficult one (the version she sang althroughout Daydream Tour)
