This is the greatest songwriter of my generation. I'm 90 years old.
this song came out 2 weeks before my first ever partner of 2 1/2 yrs broke up with me out of the blue. i thought we had the happiest healthiest relationship until that moment. this song hit completely different after that, and was so painful and beautiful that i almost couldn’t listen to it. but every few nights, when i felt so full of emotion i thought i would burst, i’d turn off the lights, play this song on repeat and cry. loudly, messily, violently, for hours. that may not sound like a positive song review but this song gave me exactly what i needed at the time, permission to feel with reckless abandon. now, months later, i can listen to this song and feel the wholehearted beautiful melancholy i know it was written with. thank you adrianne

When you have the inventory to put u67s on occasional backing vocals, it's a good sign the session is going to sound good.

I am sure Adrianne is happy to be following in Dylan’s footsteps, playing her version of folk music in the very same Greenwich Village where he helped establish the art form some 60 years earlier. By the time Dylan was her age, his music had been the soundtrack for the civil rights and anti-war movements, had a major influence on a boy band from Liverpool, been covered by Hendrix, Odetta, the Byrds, and others, and was in the process of defining the folk-rock genre where Adrianne’s music thrives today.

I just put my dog down and for some reason this song resonates. I don't see sadness as a gift in this instance, but some of the lyrics speak volumes. Thank you for making such wonderful music.

So my ex from before the pandemic showed me Big Thief and Adrianne. I cannot separate the two, and there’s always 1 song from each project where I just FEEL that Adrianne’s wrote this song about us. I know my ex is listening to this too and I still feel connected to her through Adrianne’s music. Thank you so much for writing the most beautiful song’s Adrianne.
