I've been playing a similar strat for a while, I often go for saloon units and it's pretty solid and I can afford them but you really need the card that makes them cost less pop.

This strat could go well with outlaw/mercenary play. I would put advanced sallons to have more gold trickle and population. If the saloon have age 2 merc, this becomes really dangerous.

Feel the highlander hp in commerce age can be a matter of discussion. For people looking to counter this strategy, colonial militia card can be good( 3 tc shots from 5 ). Also spy shipment or even training can be good.

Missing full age 2 cards. And native treaty card. Cause we go for native posts, too. Usually we won’t go third age 3, cause rush and outlaws. I like 8 Highlanders in Minute 6 to rush.

Had someone do something similar to me, first game he won cause I went age2 pressure and didn't know how strong these things were, second game I won with a musk falc attack.

I think this strategy is different, not necessarily better or worse. Aiz is using it as his main strat and he’s currently Rank 6 in the world lol. He must be doing something right
