A good lesson for us in not choosing the struggle. Peace is the real power move. 💗 I'm in Costa Rica expressly because I've opted out of the struggle that comes with life in the US.
Buying 56 Acres is hella impressive. And selling it is impressive as well. Too many people get stuck holding on to things that no longer serve their wellbeing.
Preach!! Left a 3k sq ft home in "good neighborhood" for a 800 sq ft 1 bedroom apt. Marriage is better than ever. Kids get more attention. Finally saving money and paying off debt instead of going in the other direction. Never quit evaluating and making changes including letting go
❤Love, Love this: A few takeaways. 1. You had BIGGER FISH to FRY! 2. Don’t wrestle with pigs. The pig will enjoy it and you will get muddy. 3. There’s a whole world out here to explore than to fight to be stationary.
In addition to the key takeaways you shared, I learned that sometimes a chapter comes to an end, and that’s okay. Accepting closure requires putting your ego aside, assessing the situation objectively, and focusing on what’s within your control. Another key takeaway: Manage the situation and change, and in practice, we can convert restraining forces into driving forces. Your work inspires me! Keep it going.
Thank you for sharing. I found this really valuable. A couple of years ago, my rear neighbors decided to start messing with us. We had to find a lawyer to get relief. Still in that lawsuit. Expensive but sometimes you must teach people how to treat you.
Respectfully, An essential take away in life is to regard others choice as theirs sole, personal right and to live our one life as we please. It's narcissistic, erroneous thinking & insane to articulate or insinuate our choice as the best for someone else's situation. RACHEL, HER HUSBAND, FAMILY & TMH has the only say. Rachel spoke THEIR truth and considered all things regarding THEIR purpose in life, rightly judged their personal situation as lead by TMH which makes THEM, the family as a whole & TMH happy & well pleased. ISHEH!.🙏🌍🕊
Love it "hold your goals loosely" Sometimes your goal needs more maturing, or there is an alternative space where you belong or your goals where based on a dated situation that has since passed. Keep them coming LADY!!!!
Whew! I still have some growing to do because I'm struggling with this one. Intellectually, I recognize that you made the right decision. You and your family's peace and happiness is what's most important. But emotionally, I'm hot. Give me my pitch fork cause I'm "fired up and ready to go". Reminds me of stories my Grandmother told me about moving into the suburbs back in the 60s. Woosah. I'm talking myself down over here. 🧘♀️ I wish you and your family all the happiness in the world. Enjoy the island. ❤
I would have sub divided all of it 1 acre each and sold to black folk only! I totally would have been the smaller person…in this case. Pick and choose my battles and this one I personally would have battled. I respect your decision and understand completely. I’m all about teaching jerks a lesson 🤷🏾♀️
I hope the people who spent this much time harassing you sees this and knows how joyful you are in the decision to move on and reap the benefits. They’re probably depressed broke people with no common sense to love thy neighbor! Imagine the possibilities they could have accomplished using that energy for good instead of the evil they spewed. Good luck to you and your family I just found your channel today!
You don't owe us an explanation, so I genuinely appreciate you sharing this. I remember when you bought the ranch, and watching you flourish with it. What a story and experience! Your takeaway - holding on loosely - is exactly what I needed to hear right now. Enjoy that island, can't wait to hear more about your adventures!
This video brought me to tears when you said invest in things just because you want them. I was confronted with this yesterday. This is a message is timely. ❤
Why wouldn’t you expose these people?? I understand the reason you sold but I feel like not exposing who these people were leaves it open for them to continue to mistreat other black folks.
I am sorry you had to go through all that, we all know the reality of the world we live in. We often hold on tightly to people, places and possessions that no longer serve us because we tend to identify with them due to rejection, then we fill ourselves up with things so that they add value to our life. I love how you handled it and the perspective it has given you, we would all be much happier if we did things that align with our purpose and not things that pleases other people. Sending my love and well wishes to you and your family from South Africa 🇿🇦 ❤
This was such an amazing episode! I too opted to live outside of the U.S and am living my BEST life. This episode was right on time because I've been thinking a lot lately about pivoting in my business. I definitely have more clarity now.
I love that you are just living all your dreams. Recognizing that a dream is done is hella power. Congrats and have an amazing journey following your bliss lady!❤
Such a great lesson and I too wanted you to fight and give the neighbors a "lesson" but I see the abundance aspect of this decision. It no longer served you - and you wanted something greater. Love this podcast! thank you for your authenticity....
Thanks for spilling the tea and for highlighting the three key takeaways. These were very insightful lessons you called out. So easy to get caught up and what others think and lost in a sunken cost fallacy. I appreciate you! ☺️
We don’t have to commit to things for a lifelong for them to be meaningful and matter. It is ok for you to love on to the next thing, when the dream is done! Love this!
Thank you Rachel! There are many chapters in life and some are like "Who Moved My Cheese" - things change. I too moved due to abusive neighbors and it is annoying to say the least but yes it was probably time to move on. Lots of great takeaways thank you!! Keep up the great work!!
This was very informative. I appreciate you sharing your reality, your experience, and the positive takeaways. So glad you and your family had such amazing experiences and shared with your audience. My late husband and I planned to buy and build in Vermont for our retirement but anticipated symbolic violence escalating into physical violence from the neighborhood in a remote location. Well done for giving it a go and pioneering this lifestyle 🥳

This is soooo good! And, I am proud of you for taking the road less traveled, and doing what was best for you and your family! Sometimes it's worth it to fight, and other times, it costs more to fight. This was such a good episode with so many great nuggets of wisdom!
Such a brilliant episode with so many takeaways Rachel! Love what you said about how your dreams can change and that's okay - was so proud of you and inspired when you bought the ranch and proud of you now for making a million dollar decision to sell it. Such a shame that there are so many entitled people who think that only they deserve the best in life.
I Loved this episode. Sorry you amd your family had to deal with the neighbors, township racism. I'm happy that you and your family moved, living where you want im peace and happiness💕 God is Great ALL the Time! 🙏🏾New subie here.
This good. My take aways: .Dreams have expiration dates. The definition of a million dollar decision. Downsizing is actually upsizing your time. Great discussion and I'm happy for you!
Quite inspiring…. One dream at a time. Sad hurt, and angry about the racial issues you had. But I’m happy for you and your family. Thanks for the lessons shared.
I know another young lady that moved on farm land with her father in GA. She’s facing racism (w/ photos and videos inserted) but she’s still fighting. I don’t think her ranch is 56 acres…but I see how both sides poses a problem if the right laws aren’t put in place to protect us (black people). With a podcast and over a million listeners, I’m surprise you didn’t blast them. Nevertheless, you thought what you did was best. Racism doesn’t stop at owning land. I don’t see how most ppl are suggesting moving out of the US like blacks aren’t being mistreated overseas, even if it’s covert. You can still bluntly see it. I think if anyone is going to experience anything like racism, let it be on a land you’re familiar with bc then there’s some type of justice that could be granted. If it isn’t xenophobia; it’s racism…most countries don’t have US connections to protect us so whatever happens overseas (ex Mexico).. you’re on your own. So ppl need to be wise about “moving” to those places. Also, black ppl have always been pushed off their property to poverty (ex Black Wall Street) also, my mother experienced (born and raised SC, lived in NY over 20 yrs) how in NY (mid 60s, 70s era) that blacks were pushed towards the inner cities a lot to live in the “ghettos” (as we see in most countries), whereas the majority whites live in the suburbs--I guess my question is when are we as a collective (black community) are going to require security measures (not from the gov, something for ourselves like the Jewish community in NY) to ensure we are safe and secure?? Seriously, if it isn’t blatantly racism, it’s systematic.
Thanks for sharing this story. I really enjoyed why you chose not to fight for reasons that made you and your family happy. I have never taken that approach. As a result I've spent a lot of not so joyful years achieving career goals that I considered safe. So I never went places I dreamed of when I was younger and missed some great opportunities. However I have lead a good life thus far and cannot complain or cry about any of my choices. But watching your share was refreshing. Thanks.
This was so good. It is very freeing to know its ok to move on and live the life that is best for you. You provided great framework regarding making the best decision for oneself and family. I love it. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I am new to your channel and I would like to say, thank you.... I did not know i needed to hear this until you said it. I have been racking my brain and pushing myself so hard to purchase a property for my family.
Thank you Rachel for sharing this with us. I, like you, tend to go for the fight option as the most obvious one which resonates with broke a** decision 😅, wanting million dollar results LOL. This is definitely something for me to work on. Thank you!
“ We don’t have to commit to things for the rest of our lives for them to be meaningful or for them to matter” 💎💎💎 Hey Rachel. Long ways from I.S. 237! Love your content. Sucks to hear that this is how everything unfolded. But encouraged to know it can be done again elsewhere if you so choose.
"You lived your dream." What a statement and accomplishment. Thanks for showing us to keep dreaming BEYOND our wildest dreams💝. Island life is serving you well. You are glowing and look so refreshed.
“It’s okay for a dream to be done. Give yourself permission to move onto from what is no longer serving you.” - Rachel Rodgers Thank you for sharing this Rachel. I joined Hello 7 in 2020 in order to work with horses and therapy. My work was hindered by what you faced, racism, classism and privilege. It exhausted me. After 4 attempts, I stopped. I kept two of my horses and am now moving forward in a new way in life. Moving on and forward was a better decision than hanging on.
If you made the decision to sell the property, why would you not hold those people accountable for their actions. The thought that you had the power, that many blacks wish they had, to hold them accountable, but didn't is downright crazy. Power is to enjoy yourself, but power IS MORESO TO HELP THOSE WHO DON'T HAVE THE POWER TO HELP THEMSELVES. All you did was give them a free pass that will continue to enable them to do what they have been doing. You even stated that your lawyers said the case was a slam dunk. Meaning your lawyers 100% believed they would win the case, plus your lawyers are doing most of the work, yet you made it extremely clear that you made a profit off the property. What was more important, making a profit or standing up for what's right? The crazy thing is...you could have done both. I don't know you and I've never watched any of your videos until this one, but I cannot and will not give you a free pass on this and let you sit here and try to justify it with excuses. THE GIFT OF BEING A FIGHTER...ISN'T FOR YOURSELF...IT'S TO BE ABLE TO FIGHT FOR OTHERS.
stayingfocusedforjesus you are so right, when those of us that get in the position to show those that think they are the only ones entitled to have nice things, we should think of those who will come behind us and let those who are entitled see that they aren't the only ones that can be blessed...... Not only that her actions make the entitled ones think they can control everything all the time, plus I bet she sold back to them.......
Thank you for sharing this because just as you elaborated on so many times you get tied to things that no longer serve you and then you want to fight for uselessness which makes no sense. Such an inspiration❤❤❤❤
You said a word and it hit home for me when something is not serving you ie career it's OK to move on because at this point it's becoming a distraction and not a passion so thank you for that ❤
Love you Rachel and so proud of you for choosing peace and abundance ❤ your life is too amazing to be fighting with some foolish folks...the devil was tryna mess you up but he failed.
Sorry that you had to go through this. I was in a similar position last year. My husband was ready to fight, but for my mental health and for the sake of my kids, we moved. Even though, we got the property at a great price during Covid, holding on to it was just not worth it anymore, if we could not sleep peacefully at night.
and sadly, THEY KNOW IT! They see the mental & emotional violence as a game and when they recognize that they can't win that way they use physical violence!
all these towns hate outsiders. wealthy outsiders, white outsiders, black outsiders, etc. I hear countless stories in georgia and parts of texas. Usually staying in the town means you will own MORE things in town, so you become "the family" the wealthy family folks respect because big dollars still run smaller towns. good luck to you and your choices.
Your decision to sell was and is solely up to you. I feel you explaining it is a default protective mechanism to justify or to subconsciously justify your decision. The ancestors never justified why they did what they did! I would have fought ! As a premed student you know ow many people try to convince me to change. I get it. But you owe us no explanation. I’m happy for you
Yup! Ppl are too attached to certain things! More opportunities and blessings! Caring what others people think is ridiculous at this point. Being free and responsible is the way 🥂🔥
Name and shame, Queen. Both the town and families (if legally able to do so). Other melanated people need to know where NOT to spend ANY of our dollars!
We dealt with these type of neighbors in a new development we purchased in. It was resolved when a few more families that look like us moved in and a few of them were state police officers.
I'm so happy I came across this message. My first and usually last instinct is to fight. So, this really really had me thinking, PLEASE swing back. But what you say about the million dollar idea is so true. I think about that saying: "Everything looks like a nail to a hammer" Well, we are humans, not hammers and it's the hallmark of power to decide how we are going to respond, rather than just react. I was happy to hear that you sold at a profit. But, I admit...I would have been petty and sent those neighbors roses and chocolates with a thank you card, but that's just me. LOL If you ever want to Executive Produce a film, I'm working on one called Discovering Pie, the 67 year-old Cold Case of Rosetta Edwards (My eldest aunt who passed 13 years before I was born) That's not why I'm here, but it came to mind. OK, glad I discovered your channel. I'm subscribing and sharing this powerful message. Enjoy your life. EJ
there are genuine people who are still supprised that we go through this because they don't go through life in our bodies. They can's see why a 'nice person' couldnt be so nasty to others. Keep cutting us out of long term ownership. Thank you for sharing
I enjoyed this immensely. It is timely. I agree with everything you said. I needed it. I really have to change my thinking and unhinge my mind, heart and soul from tbe past and present toxic and unhealthy relationships that have kept my mind, heart and deeply scarred and my soul and body and mind immensely tired and exhausted.
Wow sorry to hear this. Went through similar in 2012 in NC, CLT. Two Neighbors actually used insurance write off to total my car which was parked on street (old in town neighborhood) amongst many other things (eg egging our cars). What they didn't know was this dude was covered by blood of Jesus. That car was a lemon and I had been planning on getting rid of it 😅 All things work together for Good of those that love the Lord. God also removed three of neighbors including all the ones causing issues: one through illness (eventually died). Ultimately we moved on too. When I think of these people I fell sorry for them. To have that unwarranted hate is crazy and sad. I couldn't imagine even wanting to raise kids in such environment. People out here doing devil's work. Stay safe and prayed up.
My husband & I bought 50 acres in 2021 but we are so grateful it's so private with no neighbors to bother us
We literally left the city because of racist neighbors 😂
Neighbors are the worst
A good lesson for us in not choosing the struggle. Peace is the real power move. 💗 I'm in Costa Rica expressly because I've opted out of the struggle that comes with life in the US.
I hear that. I left the US 5.5 years ago. I moved to Europe, spent a winter in Mexico and back to Europe.
Totally! So happy for you.👏👏👏 There is entirely to much STRESS in the U.S. .
Are you feeling happy and safe.
Outstanding! I don’t think a lot of us here realize how many people from the US live elsewhere. I could not believe the numbers.
Yessss @StephaniePerry ❤❤❤
Buying 56 Acres is hella impressive. And selling it is impressive as well. Too many people get stuck holding on to things that no longer serve their wellbeing.

I especially like #3
You need to name the town, give the street, and increase awareness. Can you imagine what black people experienced in the 60s
Exactly
Yep, Name it please!

Not sure how I ended up in this channel/video but this was a word! Subscribed
Thanks so much!
I was immediately hooked within 20 seconds. Your whole being is beautiful. May God continue to bless you and your family.
Quite inspiring…. One dream at a time. Sad hurt, and angry about the racial issues you had. But I’m happy for you and your family. Thanks for the lessons shared.
This was a great discussion. Always loved the topics you discuss😊
I’ve been a Nurse Practitioner for 7 years (nurse 16 years)….. you’re absolutely right. It’s okay to go on to the next dream & move on ❤
I know another young lady that moved on farm land with her father in GA.
I love it. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Really good episode. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I am new to your channel and I would like to say, thank you.... I did not know i needed to hear this until you said it. I have been racking my brain and pushing myself so hard to purchase a property for my family.
I'm excited for this especially since I just binged Queen Sugar!
Thank you Rachel for sharing this with us. I, like you, tend to go for the fight option as the most obvious one which resonates with broke a** decision 😅, wanting million dollar results LOL. This is definitely something for me to work on. Thank you!
It was a pleasure from beginning to end. Never heard of you but you are the kick in the ass that I needed. Thank you 🙏🏾
Veeeery helpful.. You have no idea just how much ! Thank you.

Hey Rachel.
I love your attitude, your laugh, and your honesty! Letting go of mess is the best flex.
“It’s okay for a dream to be done. Give yourself permission to move onto from what is no longer serving you.” - Rachel Rodgers
Thank you for sharing this Rachel.
This was good,, sis. Thank you! My wife and I needed this talk.
Your comment makes me sad.
stayingfocusedforjesus you are so right, when those of us that get in the position to show those that think they are the only ones entitled to have nice things, we should think of those who will come behind us and let those who are entitled see that they aren't the only ones that can be blessed...... Not only that her actions make the entitled ones think they can control everything all the time, plus I bet she sold back to them.......
Thank you for sharing your story and all of the powerful insights that come with it! You inspire me!
Thank you for sharing this because just as you elaborated on so many times you get tied to things that no longer serve you and then you want to fight for uselessness which makes no sense. Such an inspiration❤❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing this ❤ I can’t wait to see you blow up on TH-cam!
You said a word and it hit home for me when something is not serving you ie career it's OK to move on because at this point it's becoming a distraction and not a passion so thank you for that ❤
Same..just sold a property. This gave me ease. Thank you ❤
Loosen the grip on your dreams. Thanks I needed that. I was holding on to tight!
This was a wonderful episode. So glad I found it!
all these towns hate outsiders. wealthy outsiders, white outsiders, black outsiders, etc. I hear countless stories in georgia and parts of texas. Usually staying in the town means you will own MORE things in town, so you become "the family" the wealthy family folks respect because big dollars still run smaller towns. good luck to you and your choices.
This was right on time! Thank you for sharing your story.
Being free and responsible is the way 🥂🔥
This was an incredibly inspiring story! Thank you for sharing🙏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Name and shame, Queen. Both the town and families (if legally able to do so).
Other melanated people need to know where NOT to spend ANY of our dollars!
So now they get to bully any other families that don't look like them, who may happen to move into their neighborhood?
Yep. They get to act likea gang of petty, bratty children with no consequences, as usual.
Basically, yes. At least say the name of the town.
@@Gaia007I thinks it’s near Greensboro NC a small growing town called mebane
@@jacobwallace6210 thanks for saying where it’s at I’m looking in this area
EJ
Such an amazing episode. I’m sorry it happened to you and your family. It’s absolutely unacceptable.
Love your take on $1M Decision.
I’m celebrating you and your family’s peace joy and happiness 🥳
I would have secured my property and ignore them... but congrats on sticking to your principles
there are genuine people who are still supprised that we go through this because they don't go through life in our bodies. They can's see why a 'nice person' couldnt be so nasty to others. Keep cutting us out of long term ownership. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for sharing and choosing your peace.
Thanks for sharing. Makes me feel angry that you and your family endured that !
Great learning lessons here! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾
Yes I agree
