I get it! Wow! After 40 dark years, suddenly, somehow, the light appears. Tonight, while mindlessly plunking through this routine exercise, I saw a circle shining, and the scales fell from my eyes. Adam, dude, my gratitude for this harmonic epiphany. I once was blind, but now finally, I can hear in every key!
A truly inspiring and comprehensive lesson. Really appreciate how you’ve explained and exemplified this for us. Instant sub. Any chance you’d discuss some approaches and practice routines to get that “Elton John/ Jealous guy piano player style parallel 6ths. Elton does it in Daniel amongst others. It’s not covered on TH-cam and I have a feeling you might be able to shed light on that magic. Anyway just a suggestion. Thanks so much for this video. Brilliant!
Really good lesson - tricky to play once it gets speeded up and syncopated, but super useful, including building circle of fifths into muscle memory. Thankyou!
Great lesson, I already told you, it looks difficult at the start but at the end I fully understand it but … doing it by myself ? That’s another question (actually keeping practice, I know). Adam, you are the best instructor I’ve ever seen !!
Adam, superb. Couldn’t have come at a better time as I’m on Rocket Man at the moment and just at the point where I’m comfortable and now need to start jazzing it up. As someone else said, challenging but achievable. Thanks man
Another awesome lesson. You don’t just teach a technique, you have given us a practice methodology to do it in every key, freakin brilliant Adam! Thank you so much! Up until now I used the circle of fifths solely to establish the number of flats or sharps in a key! Now I know how to use it to get these shapes under my fingers in all keys……and sound totally musical practicing it! That is a true gift❤
Another awesome lesson. I liked your lessons on fills, it makes my playing on standard progressions sound much better. But playing Elton John songs is like a quantum leap, and this lesson is a great way to approach his signature style. Thanks!
Hello, maybe you can make a video about Coldplay's Chris Martin piano playing style? Cause he's genius of arrangements of how he plays his songs live everytime, on everyshow.. I would like to copy him, but its so hard to get what kind of patterns, what kind of style he plays. Also he has very nice live cover of Elton John YOUR SONG, listen that :)

Great lesson, I already told you, it looks difficult at the start but at the end I fully understand it but … doing it by myself ? That’s another question (actually keeping practice, I know). Adam, you are the best instructor I’ve ever seen !!

You are welcome Julian!
What would be interesting as a next video wouldne a whole song of elton with this. Tried with your song but too complicated for me.
Thanks Adam!!!
This is so good! Thanks!!!
Do you have a video dedicated specifically to gospel paying? Or if it could be a video in the future (CCM Style gospel)
Thanks David! Great idea! Will add to the list
@@thekeyscoachthanks!!
Another great lesson. Is this content covered in your books?
Hi Jeffrey - yes this is covered in my books, the general principles of the circle of fifths are in volume 1. Hope that helps!
Elton does this A LOT in "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters"!

Technically, when you play C as the root and add the F, your playing a sus4. Amazing!! Billy Joel uses a similar approach.
That's very much like the classic blues box shuffle pattern (alternating between the I and IV) minus the swung triplet rhythm
Totally 👍
noter les accord A B C E ECT c'est plus sympa
Well my efforts are really bad in comparison to yours, how many years will it even take for me to understand? Keeping at it.
yeah ... come on feet
Recycle of 5ths as some sort of wonder is just nonsense
That's way before Elton did it.Look in churches and Gospel
He didnt say he made it up......
Elton is known to play in a blues/Gospel feel on the piano.
