  • This video helps to solve any issues you might get with your Megahome Water Distiller.
    1. What happens if nothing happens?
You plugged your water distiller in and nothing seems to happen. Unplug your distiller at the mains and plug it in again. Make sure that when you put the plugs into the distiller, the white line you can see on the plugs is completely covered.
    2. What to do If your distiller is leaking?
If your distiller is leaking please call us on (+44) 01985 606044 and we will try and diagnose the fault with you.
    3. Rust spots
Sometimes with new distillers, you can get tiny flakes of pure steel in the base of the distiller. They can then rust creating tiny orange rust spots on the base of the distiller. Remove them by using a non-stick, non-scratch scouring pad.
    4. Cleaning
It's advised to keep your Megahome Distiller as clean as possible by giving it a clean with a non-stick, non-scratch scouring pad after each distillation to remove the scale. If the scale accumulates, you need to use the cleaning crystals (available on our website) to clean the distiller. Watch this video to see how to use our cleaning crystals.
A bed of scale on the bottom of the distiller stops the heat from getting through which can ruin the heating element.
To stop the dust from getting into the cooling fins in the head of the distiller, make sure your distiller is correctly cited on a countertop. You can also use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the dust around the vents.
Don't take the distiller head apart while the distiller is within two years warranty because it can invalidate the warranty.
One final tip - make sure you keep the area around plug sockets dry at all times.
Still has a problem? Call us on (+44) 01985 606044 and we will help you to find the fault over the phone. If you can't, we should be able to repair it in our repair centre.

Since 2018 I have had two Megahome distillers. With the first one; I didn't know how strong the citric acid (Megahome includes with the distiller) was when I left some in the distiller to soak. Without enough water in the distiller, and the lid on, preventing ventilation; the cleaner ate tiny black holes in the bottom of my distiller, what a Megahome representative identified as "pitting". The holes allow condensation between the walls of the distiller. My unit began to shut off mid-way through the process, it was no longer feasible to use. I needed a new base.
Researching that problem, I learned a few things about my distiller...
    1. Never leave citric acid in the distiller, with less than a half cup of water
    2. Don't put the lid on it when you put citric acid in the distiller.
    3. Condensation can compromise the thermostat, leading to premature termination of the distillation process.
    4. Never let the distiller turn off automatically by itself. I know that sounds ridiculous, but the automatic shut off switch burns out. Many users suggested buying an auto timer. I bought a timer to turn my MegaHome off just shy of 5.5 hrs.
    5. Make sure the lid is on flush. Recently my second distiller barely made enough water to cover the bottom of the carafe. I discovered the lid was slightly ajar. Once I made sure the seal was air tight, the next distillation was successful. (I hope that was the problem.)
    6. Spraying an air can into the vents, at enough distance as to not allow the parts to be cold for long, will prevent dust from collecting to overheat the motor.
    7. With proper use, many issues are usually resolved with a new starter wire or thermostat.
*I ordered a new base for the distiller from Nutriteam Support, support@nutriteam.com. I ordered charcoal packets, edible citric acid and parts from Amazon.
Also, in 2021 The General Trading Company customer service, for Megahome distillers, was great! They responded fast, requested pictures and made an assessment to help me resolve my issue.
    I emailed Megahome at:

We've had one stop working entirely (didn't even last a year) and another leaked from the bottom...(also didn't last a year) both were cleaned with vinegar after every use and were in well ventilated, clean areas. For the price, I was extremely disappointed with this product. The Megahome is the most expensive and I expected it to last for more than a few months.

When mine was brand new, the stainless steel cavity looked great, but after first use, it developed 12-15 grey spots in different sizes in the bottom that I could not remove or abrase off. It was part of the steel and could not be distinguished by feel. These exiting spots got darker grey and more spots developed when I used it a 2nd and 3rd time. What is this from? Is this a defect in the metal that reacts to heating element in a certain way? Is it a precursor to rust and deterioration? Thanks.

Ours (a few years old) is making percolating sounds minutes (10) after start up. It used to only do this at the end of the cycle. Last night the fan stopped. This morning the fan is running again, but the percolating sounds have started again. We just cleaned it and the base is shiny. Could a temp sensor be faulty, and it is overheating?
