My father was very sad on that day. Me bola koi bat nahi papa, phr kubhi pakistan world cup jeet lay ga. Papa bolay , phr pata nHi hum zinda hon ga ya nahi, phr qismat nay yavri ki Aur pakistan 92 me world cup jeet gaya and my father enjoyed the victory. My father died in January 2005. God bless him. In last days he was still watching cricket match. He was fond of afridi batting.

The writer said who the **** has something like that on eve of the biggest match of the year... And rules himself out to give opposition The upper hand ...Something was Fishy and that article ended... Who was the captain again... Lol hope you got some clues...

In 1987 I was in Adelaide and missed the match but in 1992 I was lucky enough to witness Pakistan winning world cup in Melbourne. Those days Melbourne use to be very different than what it is now. We celebrated the win whole night marching in the streets with the flag.

Remember watching the second half of this 1st Reliance Cup Semi Final ( Pakistan innings) on Doordarshan ( live feed from PTV )...the very next day Gooch and Getting swept India out in the 2nd Semi Final in Mumbai ( Wankhede Stadium), thereby setting up an unexpected AUS ENG Final at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata ( then called Calcutta ) !
Abdul Qadir and Courtney Walsh were both great bowlers...in fact cricketing legends!

In spite of all we know NOW abt General Zia ul Haq etc etc... Seriously, these were BEAUTIFUL DAYS in Pakistan... And Pakistanis e.g Abdul Qadir sahab -- ICONIC clips of him congratulating the Aussies.... And the gesture viz a viz Courtney Walsh, the "car gesture" - giving it to Imran Khan!! Almost tearful.

It all went to hell when Zia died in late 1980s.... and those crooks he brought in as puppets(before he died) ended up taking over and opening the flood gates for their friends too. Those families ares still ruling today.... Khan who saw all this... And saw Pakistan go down, started his own party... Which today is fighting to get power back from the families.

Remember this tournament. Pakistan had the most ferocious team in this tournament. They took Australia for granted and got hammered in the semis. With this loss , we thought the world cup was ours and we took England for granted next day and got hammered.

@Arjun Prabhu they were lucky in 92 and peaked towards the end. Their bowling only had wasim , Aquib and mushtaq..no 5th bowler , imran was 39...their best performances was in the semis and finals. But as a team the 87 had some really badasses.
Imran , Miandad , S.malik , S.yousouf , Qadir , Rameez ...they were young, at their peak and in home conditions...in 1992 , they lost by ten wickets to windies , 74 all out vs england , got thru to semis becoz nz lost their round robin game on purpose to avoid playing Australia in Australia in the semis. In 1987 , they steamrolled all .

Yes but consider the hammerings we got from them. World Cup 1999 Final, Then 3-0 in 1999 with a star studded side. Trashing again in 2003. Consecutive White Washes in 2002,2005,2010. The Ill fated Semi Final when Saeed Ajmal lost his radar completely. World Cup 2015 and T20 2021 Knock Outs.

On same day, my Grand mom was coming back home & was very fond of cricket. After knowing 2nd S.F result, she thanked God by saying that in case of victory, India would make fun of us 😒😒 . At that time, I was not able to distinguish b/w these mixed emotions but later on concluded that my granny was probably right😒 . Anyways, no offense brother, probably these mixed feelings still exist on both sides of border. Love from Pakistan!

I don't like Zia Ul Haq, but he was very graceful on this occasion. Those days were simple and honest and cricket was a very gentlemanly game. Pakistan was still known as the most unpredictable cricket team in the world, which was yet again proven in the very surprising rise of the Pakistan Stars in the 1992 WC Championship. I have huge respect for Pakistan Cricket Teams of the day. With Love from INDIA.
