Hi Phil, So good to see you having some fun with your drone video. I love that! You are so right when it comes to music and drumming in particular. I have been drumming 75 years now and until I got to listen to some of your videos and work on some of your material, I never realized just how far creativity on the drums can go. Yes, you are correct, it goes to infinity! However, I am not sure everyone has what it takes to expand their vocabulary and creativity to the highest level. Sometimes I find that when working on some of the harder things I am trying to learn with drumming that there is a point where I have to stop after so long and need a mental break and will just go and play drums to a play a long track with a great big band. As always Phil, Thanks for sharing your insight with the rest of us drummers! Stay safe brother! :)

Good video with some interesting insights. I think we're in the age of cafeteria living. Pretty much in any endeavor you are free to pick and choose what items you want from the cultural cafeteria that fits your lifestyle. This seems to apply to drumming.
Also, this world has become highly specialized, where one person carves out a particular niche in an industry or profession and hyper-focuses on it to the exclusion of everything else. This can lead to disaster as job market and technological changes happen often, kicking to the curb those who were once making good living.
AI certainly puts the power of creating an infinite array of "art" at the fingertips of non-artists. Sometimes with incredible effect. Soon movies and songs will be created with the touch of a button.
I would suppose the same thing has happened to drumming. I remember when drum machines were seemingly taking over and some thought they might replace real drummers. Certainly CD and record sales are down, so the live performance aspect has allowed musicians to continue to make a living.
There's plenty of space for giving people what they want on TH-cam but most times they get what they paid for.
I don't know what the answer is. I think Phil could serve any level of drumming from beginner to advanced, since he's got the talent, knowledge, experience and skill...but he's more geared to the advanced drummer as he states in this video, since his audience is older and more experienced.
I think there's a bigger market for part-time, hobbyist drummers who sill want to stick but don't have the time, resources or drive to make a living out of it. They pick and choose what they want to learn to their arsenal of ad hoc or hack drumming skills. Some might advance to private lessons or even music school.
I guess flexibility is the key in today's word, but even that seems like not quite enough as the cost of living continues to outpace people's ability to keep up...
