Good interview I think African and African diaspora we need to tell our own stories and share foods with each others. We need to work together as people here in the west and on the continent. We need to do businesses help each others to move forward. We might have differences and way of doin things but we are strong if we work together. I always tell people nobody well help we the black people if we don't help ourselves period. Yes you were born in America Europe Caribbean or south America but you still have Africans DNA it's a facts.

I freaking love Swahili Village. Haven't been to the one in DC, just the one in Beltsville. Love it!!! That fried tilapia, the mokimo, the greens, and the chapti are my favorites, but it's all good. Anyone who's never been there should GO! You will love the food, the decor, and the music. Will make you feel like you're on vacation. Just a really good vibe in there.

    Collaboration >>> Competition.
We'll build our land for us. In our lifetime. We'll start with commerce & finance pipelines and digital pipelines. I envision impeccable customer service between us for us. I know we've had trade of some sort but I want a more intimate one. I think when we get regular things from each, we'll think more of each other. We'll always be in our minds. Coupled, we drift towards each other. Of course I'm talking on high levels.
You look so in your element when in Kenya and in Kenyan premises abroad. I genuinely think your soul and spirit has taken to this part of our continent, you just returned to where they extracted you. You're home and I really love seeing it in your face,

Kevin Onyona is an award-winning Kenyan businessman and officially a Washingtonian, for the amount of decades he has resided in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Kevin founded the Swahili Village Group from very humble beginnings with his wife. Now almost 20 years later, he has utilized this organization to build an authentic connection between the African culture and the rest of the world. "The African culture is very misinterpreted globally and it is time we stood up and displayed the authenticity of our originality in culture, food, arts and music." says Kevin Onyona
He has achieved this currently through a set of fine dining African restaurants named Swahili Village restaurants. The first restaurant located in the state of Maryland was a gathering place for Africans away from the motherland to feel at-home through every meal, drink or visit. After serving the local community and travelers from far and wide in this humble restaurant for 10 years, receiving dining awards and community recognition by different national and international groups, he began his expansion to accomplish his original mission throughout the United States of America.
Known as The Consulate, Swahili Village DC positions itself as a fine dining African restaurant and social and cultural event space for programming that fosters U.S.-African engagement.
“We thought it was important to take an opportunity to truly celebrate our place here in DC and remind everyone that we have big plans as we move forward in our mission to bring people together through food, culture, art, and enlightened conversations,” said Executive Chef, Founder and CEO Kevin Onyona of Swahili Village -The Consulate DC.
“Our capacity to create an international space to bring about cross-cultural dialogue and build better bridges around Africa and with the rest of the global community can and should match our dreams of peace and stability for all of our brothers and sisters around the world,” added Swahili Village COO Emad Shoeb. “That’s what Swahili Village is about.”
Today the Swahili Village Group is a culmination of fine dining, cultural events, philanthropic initiatives and even impact international policies through the different facets of the entire organization.
Kevin Onyona lives with his beautiful wife and 4 children in the suburban area of Maryland.

A friend invited me to go in October. But the pandemic made me skittish. 😞COVID is still flourishing in the US; it's not like in most of Africa. And they say we're expecting another COVID wave in the USA. I'm fully vaccinated but still don't want to get sick or get long-COVID symptoms. The Swahili Village is definitely no my list for post-COVID.

Are you still hiding from Covid?? My goodness you can't live in fear forever. Covid is no longer a threat. This season is rife with RSV and flu but not covid. LIVE ! It's already post covid
