    The problem here is that one person is not interested due to the amount of text on the card. There's too much text vs his knowledge of the game. Which is why the speed duel decks are perfect in this scenario. Best to teach basics first like card types, summon types and basic rules of play. This right here for Victor is information overload.

    A lot of my friends even the ones that play yugioh decently, spiritually relate to victor. This is one of the big problems of yugioh, it doesn’t receive new players, it’s completely sustained by players who have already been in the game for a decade, even if they no longer enjoy the game (just out of nostalgia that hopefully they’ll recapture the same vibes as the good old days).

    • @theWIIISEguy
      @theWIIISEguy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree and disagree. I've taught someone with even less experience than Victor to play Modern Yugioh competently withing a weeks time.
      The difference is, they actually took interest I'm the card game and wasn't just asked to play in a situation that puts them under a spotlight. As well as the fact that the first few days and sessions were spent teaching the vanilla YGO until they understood the core mechanics of ATK/DEF, Normal/Special Summon, Spell Speeds and Chaining. Once they felt comfortable, we skipped straight from 2003 to then running a modernized Traptrix deck with DPE package and Utopias. After about a week of that, they're doing combos, chaining and building/breaking boards competently. Mind you, they built the deck themselves after some initial netdecking and will be ordering it here soon.
      Victor seems to be a good friend and chill enough guy to be willing to play. But he doesn't really seem interested and so he holds himself back from wanting to put in effort and he also doesn't care to play on his own time. Which is fair and fine. But I find that initial investment is what seperates many players from learning modern ygo.
      Its when you stop worrying about card text length and you care to know the basic rules that jumping into modern ygo is way easier than it looks for someone unprepared and semi-standoffish due to uncertainty. It's tricky and takes time. But pickup games are always going to be a struggle even for someone playing old school ygo.

      Actually I started back in 2016 on ygopro and it was able to retain me at around the age of 13, I loved the game and still do because of how interesting it is. Try not to generalize too much because there are a lot of people that find the game fun without nostalgia attached to it!

      @@photon1273 it's a generalization, the exception doesn't make the rule. When trying to tackle a problem as broad as "Yugioh having trouble attracting new players" generalizations are fine. It's not supposed to be indicative of every player in the game.

    That dude ranking the cards by the art, it's me. It's litteraly me.
    I vibe with him, I play decks only because I found the archetypes cool.
    Dinos, japanese heroes, kuriboh.
    Are they strong? Probably not, but I don't care.

    Our boy Victor warned us he was the one guy on Team APS who nobody wanted to see Duel and we all doubted him...
    Till now XD He's a great analyst but he's not a great duelist. Definitely Tristian more than a Joey but hey he's got life skills! He can sort massive boxes of cards and that's something the average Yugioh player cannot do so I still love Victor!

    Good video but if you want to help your friends get better at yugioh I suggest you make them play the original starter decks from old school yugioh to present yugioh,same thing with the structure decks.
