NASCAR needs to do something about this next gen car on short tracks. Doesn't matter if it's Richmond, North Wilkesboro, Martinsville, or Bristol. Every short track race is the same now. Nobody can pass because there is no tire wear or speed variance between the cars. Short tracks used to be the best races of the season, now they are the worst. It's absolutely ridiculous.
Damn right! They are the backbone of the sport...Martinsville in April was so bad I became a part time fan after the snoozers at Phoenix, Cota, Richmond then Martinsville and the Daytona 500 this year was really bad too.
Now? Has been for the last 2 years now with this next gen car. Every short track race since the beginning of 2022, with the exception of the spring Bristol race this year, has been the exact same due to the car.
I remember Denny Hamlin on his podcast complaining about the racing at short tracks now. Denny gets a lot of hate but he makes a lot of good points about the challenges with the nexgen car at short tracks
years ago a pitroad speeding penalty with 150 to go at a track like Bristol was a challenge to overcome, now we have Truex at close to 175 to go "its over"
I hate it that little runts like him and Ty Gibbs are in the sport now. They should be jockeys! In the days before power steering and cool suits, real men like Petty, Allison, Buddy Baker, etc drove the cars. And Janet Guthrie 😂.
I’m just happy Suarez made the 2nd round despite literally having the worst car possible. The race itself was like a 4/10 at best tho. Larson whooped the field.
I live in Bristol, my family has been going to race since it was built, I literally went there as a baby, the 1st winner I remember is Charlie glotzback, I was about 7 or 8. Seen Earnhardt win is 1st race, seen the best win there, btw Darrel waltrip is the best driver to ever race at Bristol. I can't stand him but dam he was good here. Anyways last night was a disgrace of a race, no passing, no excitement, bad enough they stage race and don't even wear down there tires so they actually have to drive. Then at the Xfinity race the night before, it was the same way, then they kept the caution out for 3 extra laps so dale jr could change helmets, I was listening on the radio to the officials and actually heard them say, hold 1 more lap for the 88 car. I tell you something else, in all the years, I have never seen a car that much faster like the #5 car was, he was playing with the field. They never had a chance to beating him. His motor sounded different than his teammates. He could run anywhere on the track and still be the fastest. Nascar is not racing anymore, it is entertainment
Larson is my driver and im very happy he won. It was a little boring but that's usually how it is once Larson grabs a lead and no one wrecks him to take it. He checks out and starts dominating.
I know it's a short lap so it squeezes the crowds seating but it looked like a good turn out for this night time race, i guess the play-off hunt makes it more exciting as well. Congratulations to Kyle Larson for winning in style in front of this bumper crowd. Nascar Rocks!! uk

Can anyone explain to me what makes nascar a hard sport out of general interest, coming from watching f1 which we can all agree is probably the harder sport. A circular circuit would be much easier than Singapore for example. How do the cars also compare to f1 cars performance wise? Seems like a cool motorsport.
F1 cars are engineered to handle in tight turns / high G,s. NASCAR cars are not. They’re heavy, and bulky and don’t handle great. They also race other drivers every lap. Who cares if they’re ovals or not. Ovals lead to better racing which is what fans want to see. I’ve did laps at both Charlotte, and VIR. Ovals aren’t “easy”. “Going in circles” has always been an ignorant statement. Ask SVG how easy it is. Road / street courses are so spread out that fans in attendance are just there to say they went. In short, NASCAR is more about driver vs. driver. F1 is more about the car
You can take any F1 pilot and he will very likely never win a short track race like Bristol. The US drivers learn to race ovals at a very young age. You need a lot of experience to be good at it. With a little bit of luck SvG will maybe win on a track like Daytona or Talladega in the future but I doubt it that he will win in Bristol, Martinsville or Dover.

For our honeymoon in 2018... before my wife passed away in '21... We went to Bristol... It was her (and my) first NASCAR live race...!! She was an avid Jeff Gordon fan... And for her wedding present...I had literally taken the Dupont Jeff Gordon racing coat off a guy at a bar for $100..!! I took the coat to Bristol and after jumping all kinds of ropes...I managed to get that coat hand autographed by Gordon (who was a broadcaster now) and give it to my beloved Faith... After she passed...I made a very special trip to Charlotte NC (NASCAR Hall of Fame) and donated that coat... It was a once in a lifetime experience at Bristol...(Even though Kyle Busch won...😢)...!! LOVE Bristol short track racing...!!
I'm sure it meant a lot for you to donate it to the hall of fame, but Gordon still autographs tons of stuff. The hall of fame won't display a signed coat like that. It would be better off in a fan's collection.
Curiously, this is sort of the kind of race that people say they missed, which was long ago very common - one car dominant, lapping much of the field. It's what you got a lot of before stage racing and the homogenization of the cars.
Still can't get into Stage Racing. What made NASCAR great in the late 80s and Early 90s was the individual races being endurance performances and the season playing out as a whole for a champion. My take. NASCAR isn't as epic as it once was and I miss my favorite sport

Even as a Kyle Larson fan, I found this race incredibly boring. There was barely any action, crashing or passing. (One reason I watch NASCAR is because of the crashes.) the only solution to fix the short tracks is more horsepower.

As a Truex fan, this was a good race, although boring, he was gonna make it. BUUUUUT when he got that penalty, it's over. This car is TERRIBLE to pass on short tracks. That's why Truex couldn't get back to the top, even though he had a top 5 car. I don't mind Larson dominating, but that's not the issue, the issue is you can't pass on short tracks in this car.😑
Not a Larson fan, but I did not see the race, outside of the on board cameras. Doesn't matter 9/10 Cars in 28th place weren't crashing at the end. No bs debris cautions. Nobody dumping anyone out of desperation, fortunately it worked in a way that it really couldn't have happened. No controversy at the end. Nothing that makes me embarrassed for NASCAR, aside from the stages and playoff crap. But considering the world Nascar is in today, it was a good, uneventful elimination race, and it's nice to see. And no matter what, if there isn't a GWC it automatically passes the test for me

This one was worse than last year's race and it was bad. Have been going down for this race for years and the last 2 have been horrible. Need to do something because races like this turns fans off and they quit watching.
I've seen good races with less than 10 cars on lead lap, but those races had good battles up front and they could actually pass...1995 North Wilkesboro fall race being my favorite classic race ever, had extremely long green flag runs but it actually slowed the lead car and often cars down trying to pass lap cars and the entire top 5 would be right there battling for the lead organically.
I watched all the races in person and yes, the Cup race was pretty boring because Larson was too good. The Truck race was more interesting. It was my first time in Bristol and my last time too. Its simply too loud for my sensitive ears. Despite ear protection. But this place is beyond imagination. Very impressive.
If you are complaining about no wrecks? Watch the truck series,xfinty series or even arca. These guys in cup are the elite drivers. Im sure there is going to be a lot at talladega which everyone agrees it's a throw away race.

Tires don’t wear out after arca, truck, and xfinity rubber up the track. On top of that cooler temperatures. Most boring race I’ve watched.

This one was worse than last year's race and it was bad. Have been going down for this race for years and the last 2 have been horrible. Need to do something because races like this turns fans off and they quit watching.

Yeah it probably was more fun being there than watching, people said last year was boring but I was there and had a great time.
All but 9 cars lapped. That's how I remember it. Let's remove those yellows at the end of stages. I like it boring (not sarcasm).
I've seen good races with less than 10 cars on lead lap, but those races had good battles up front and they could actually pass...1995 North Wilkesboro fall race being my favorite classic race ever, had extremely long green flag runs but it actually slowed the lead car and often cars down trying to pass lap cars and the entire top 5 would be right there battling for the lead organically.
Right, a yellow perhaps would have fixed it for you. But let's appreciate the dominance of one driver as well, once in a while.

I watched all the races in person and yes, the Cup race was pretty boring because Larson was too good. The Truck race was more interesting. It was my first time in Bristol and my last time too. Its simply too loud for my sensitive ears. Despite ear protection. But this place is beyond imagination. Very impressive.

If you are complaining about no wrecks? Watch the truck series,xfinty series or even arca. These guys in cup are the elite drivers. Im sure there is going to be a lot at talladega which everyone agrees it's a throw away race.
