i was at the Brighton rallys i particularly remember 81 , i was on a vespa 180 rally , id painted it cream and a peach colour with house hold emulsion! lol . it rained and all the paint came off in a big cream puddle around me . oh to be 17 again . still got scooters , still in a club , and still doing rallys ....... once a mod , always a mod , ill die a mod......
I'd say Brighton 84, in the afternoon by the looks of it. A weekend of non stop drinking, fighting and being on your toes trying to out wit the Police who wanted to make everyone's weekend as uncomfortable as possible !. Sneaking out of a BnB at 6am we'd bunked into at 3am, then riding home on the Sunday just in time for the Sunday roast !. Happy days. Still riding a Lambretta, spending a fortune on vintage vinyl and having plenty of laughs, without Police intervention and the violence these days.
1984 seems to be what most people agree on. I would have guessed later, maybe 1987. Interesting seeing the early Psycho Billy scene taking shape amongst the die hard mods, I remember cycling tops being in fashion around this time as well. Quite a big cross over of youth cultures here.
Absolutely fantastic memory for me to come across this video , i was the drummer playing in that clip the band was The Chance
