In the games there are "control" vaults that have relatively normal populations and there are experiment vaults where who knows what will or has happened to the people inside. To gamers, Lucy's Vault initially appears to be a control Vault. And then it is revealed that she's part of three interconnected vaults, and those of us in the knew have been waiting for the other shoe to drop because that's not normal. No other vaults we are aware of connect with each other. So something must be going on. As it turns out, the experiment going on with Lucy's vault is fairly benign. I really don't understand why the 32s were so upset about it that they went into a suicidal frenzy. Anyway, connected vaults are weird and a sign that something is going on. That's not normal. You heard the corporations designing vaults in this episode. A lot of their ideas were crazy and pointlessly dangerous, such as having people trapped in a Vault with a jaguar and no guns, or using white noise to drive the dwellers insane or falsely limiting the amount of food supplies in the vaults and overstocking guns and ammo. In this firs season, you get to see Vault 4 with a divided population where the scientists used to run mutation experiments on the other vault dwellers. Of course, the experiments revolted and took over the vault. But that's about par for the course with Vault Tec. This is why Barb doesn't want to leave Vault Tec. She and Coop can buy a place in a vault. But she can't be certain it will be a GOOD vault. She's looking out for her child and husband.
The interconnected vaults experiment seems light in comparison to some of the others, but imagine gaining the knowledge that for your entire life, the only purpose you have for being alive, is just breeding stock for genocidal fascists, to keep going into the future they helped create if not directly created the first strike that kicked off the Great War. They saw the loss of their lives as a blow to Vault-Tec and subsequently to the Enclave, though they haven't been shown to us yet having the connection to Vault-Tec that we can find in-game and through people like Chris Avallone, Tim Cain, and Todd Howard.
Maybe it's as Mr. House said put a bunch of rats in a cage and (sometimes) they'll eat each other. But I think someone learned about the experiment and things got out of hand.
The 32s probably went insane because they found out there was a possibility to "live forever" that 31 wasn't sharing, and they also weren't allowed to leave. Their option was to stay where they werent actually free.
Vault 31 is a one for "Junior Executives" like Hank or Betty. Cooper's wife will definitely be in one for the top executives instead of the ones her assistants were in. Which is hinted at being in New Vegas from the games that Hank is seen running toward.

She also mentioned getting her and Cooper into the vault that would manage all of the other vaults. She's wherever the upper management from Vault-Tec went, not with middle management in 31.

And Barb definitely would not have been participating in that.
Coopers wife objected to being 2 hrs away in Bakersfield and said that this location would not be cutting it. Because of this I am assuming that the Elite Vault Tech Executive Vault is close to LA. (Obv it isnt one of the 3 connected vaults)& not in New Vegas. I am gonna guess that he (Hank) knows bout House running that City, so that is why he goes there first. Now: If one looks at it, Betty said that she and their Dad Hank "buried" the Mom. This all happened during the time that Betty was an Overseer (after which Hank became the overseer). Tbh, I don't think there was a drought in the vault when everyone had to quarantine. I think, they pretended there was one; using the quarantine protocol to ensure no one knew, Hanks wife had left & that Hank and maybe even Betty left the vault (at times) as well to get the kids back& then to blow up Shady Sands. Everyone believed Hank's wife died during the drought. Other's prob died as well. Which means Hank killed even more people just to get even. They deffo needed outside help for this, as I dont think the vaults had nukes. So, either House from New Vegas helped, or one of the factions at that time. Or they got the Brotherhood to do it for them. Which is, maybe, what in turn caused New Vegas potential destruction. No matter what though, Season 2 will be lit. Now, my biggest question is who were the 5 or 6 factions (agencies) Cooper mentioned that were notified that the Enclave is looking for someone? They never said. Last: it would be interesting if Cooper & Lucy talk while traveling & she tells Cooper of the 3 Vault system, and that their Dad came from a diff vault. Wanna bet, Cooper realizes that the Bud Buds are located there, giving him another option of questioning people where his family is at (in case Lucy's Dad dies or refuses). Which would mean that they get to rescue Lucy's brother & of course be the downfall for Betty; as her Brother deffo will tell Lucy that Betty said she helped "bury" their Mom. Which in turn prob will make Lucy's Brother overseer. Betcha they prob also "take care" of the newest overseer (forgot her name, the eye patch lady) and maybe they then open the vaults to the outside, similar to Vault 4? Waking all those people up.. I think that Max and Lucy probably will miss one another at different locations. Maybe to never get back together? If they do, it would prob be only, after or if Cooper succumbs and becomes feral. I am also going to guess that, back then, when he first got away with his daughter, right after the bombs had dropped, someone from Vault tech probably knocked him out& took his daughter. So she could be brought to her Mom. Since Cooper was separated or divorced he wouldn't know where the vault is located, that his wife and daughter went to. Which explains why he is looking for them to date. If he became a ghoul by choice (the way he answered Lucy when she asked him if he became one due to too much radiation and he said: some like that), or because he probably was left to die by Vault Tech & got radiated .. we hopefully get some answers on that.. I'd say he became one out of spite, so he can find his daughter. He probably thinks they were also frozen, cause he knows that 200 yrs later they would have to be dead otherwise & wouldn't be looking for them any longer. Maybe he found out that this (cryo sleep) is what they all planned on doing (Moldaver, Elite of Vault Tech etc) I am going to guess once Max becomes a knight he prob is able to find out who really dropped the bombs on Shady Sands (my bet still is the brotherhood)& he works on dismantling them secretly, to allow free energy to everyone, so the area can be rebuilt. I think it will come to a showdown with his friend Dane who will probably swear vengeance in the end. I do believe that the "T-boys" will reunite at some point. And that it was someone at the Enclave who was one of the or the top "Makers" from over 200 yrs ago. Anyways these are my thoughts, ideas and beliefs what we will see in Season 2 & maybe Season 3. I dont think it will go past 3 Seasons, as it would take too much away from potential future games.. Obv no one has to agree with me ;)
I don't think they'd put that vault in Vegas since it never came up in the game, and Mr. House def would've known about it. I think instead he went to Vegas knowing that House didn't cryo himself with everyone else and was hoping he was still alive. I also think that with NCR/House tensions already high in New Vegas, when Hank bombed Shady Sands, the NCR assumed it was House and attracted Vegas. That would explain the condition it's in.
Vault 31 was for "Bud's Buds" -- middle management who would breed with and train the residents of vaults 32 & 33 to provide the middle managers who would be part of "restarting" society on the surface when the time was right. Upper management, such as Barb and other senior executives, would be in cryopods in another vault(s) -- presumably in New Vegas.
I think Modaver kept Lucy's mother alive for two reasons. Being unable to kill her. Due to love. And as a way of proving to Lucy the truth after she decided to come for Hank.
In the first episode the people at the party call cooper a “commie”, the same as the did Moldaver. When Cooper is talking to his friend at the bar who tells him to go meet her, he’s initially disgusted with the idea of talking to a commie and his friend says that they are not communists, that just what they call anyone who voices their disapproval with what the mega corporations are doing. You have to remember, the America in the fallout Universe became a Fascist state where the government fell into severe debt because of war with China, and the corporations took ALL the power. Anyone who goes against the fascist corporate state is labeled an enemy, and what better title to slander them with than communist?
I don't normally comment on these things, but I genuinely appreciate your series of videos on the Fallout show. As a fan of the Fallout games, I love when non-gamers or people who are new to Fallout show genuine interest and enjoy the lore of the Fallout universe. Absolutely loved the show, I think a key part of what made it work was that they didn't set out to make a video game adaptation, but instead to tell another story in the Fallout universe through the medium of streamed television. They made sure they knew their world and unfolded the story from there. And, always love your reactions and perspective can't wait to see what you're watching next!
To give a bit of context, neither the remnants of the NCR nor the Brotherhood were fighting each other for freedom, they've been at war for the last 40 years or so. They had disagreements on how technology should be used and handled in the wasteland after the ending of Fallout 2 in 2242, which eventually broke out into a war by the late 2250s/early 2260s. It's as Maximus was saying when he and Lucy were standing at the edge of the Shady Sands crater, "Everyone wants to save the world, they just disagree on how."
If the NCR leadership at the time would have been more understanding and accommodating of Brotherhood of Steel’s beliefs (like the previous NCR administrations have) war could have been avoided. While the NCR eventually got the upper hand on the battlefield due to replenishing their ranks far easier and quicker, the Brotherhood did things like destroying the NCR’s gold reserves, which likely contributed to the NCR’s eventual decline.
The guy who asked "How can you guarantee results?" was Robert House, who owns the Lucky 38 Casino and Resort in New Vegas, where Hank was headed at the end.
In the games the two headed bear represents The New California Republic they were in some games the good guys. Shady sands was the capital of that republic.
Tell that to the South Africans, 1960’s US minority citizens, and the 1940’s Indians (not Native Americans, who were screwed violence or no violence). If there are peaceful paths forward, they should be pursued.
The NCR are arguably the biggest good guys (at least a army) on the west coast, but the Brotherhood of Steel take second place, and they don’t have to worry about internal corruption bringing them down (having a large military was a big drain for the NCR). The Brotherhood of Steel needs to create a protectorate system where they agree to take on anything a well organized local militia (like the Minuteman) can’t handle, in exchange for bringing in any advanced technology, allowing Brotherhood volunteer recruitment, and providing what tribute the local communities can spare. The eastern BOS DC chapter probably already did this in DC and Boston.

Hank went to Vegas, now called New Vegas. He cant return to the vaults because he was on the surface. Hes hoping that one of the people at the round tabek, mr. House is still alive. Possibly Howards wife went to Vegas. I loved the games. This show was great cause it was original. This takes place after all the ither games and from the game producers is a lead into the next game Fallout 5.
As someone who played the games, I think the TV series has so far been excellent. There are all kinds of little touches that show they did the research. There are a few thing that aren't right. Shady Sands isn't in the right place (though this is not the first time the location of Shady Sands has been moved so I'm included to just shrug that one off). The biggest one that has gamers upset is a blackboard we see in Vault 4 depicting a timeline of recent events with the NCR. The timeline itself doesn't work with the games, which is irritating since the TV show is supposed to be cannon. The people behind the games/show have had to come out to say no,, it does fit into the cannon of the games. Essentially the issue is the end of the timeline which says 2277: Fall of Shady Sands --> Boom. Because ever other event has a date, this was taken to mean Shady Sands had a bomb dropped on it in 2277. Which can't have happened because it was still around later. The production people are all like "no, no, no, that doesn't mean it was bombed in 2277." And while it is nice to have them acknowledging the mistake, we either have bad writing that the production is trying to cover up, or the prop guys (who otherwise made really excellent props) screwed the pooch on making this prop. I think those are the two major controversies I've heard from the gamer side of things. Gamers are also curious about the drugs that the ghoul is taken because we've never seen those before. But people are less mad about it and more waiting for an explanation.
Not all the vaults are connected. I would recommend watching Every Vault in the fallout series explained by Pattyrick when you can (if you can) since you guys finished the season. The location they are going to next season is New Vegas from the game Fallout New Vagas. I wonder what they will change and what they will confirm from the games the have happened. (The games have multiple ways to complete quest and has multiple endings)
as much as i know new vegas has 4 diferent endings - ncr, legion, house, no masters/yes-man. and in fallout 4 its all generaly eiher institute get destroyed by either brotherhood or minutemen or it takes down brotherhood (main rival) , not sure about other endings
You may ask yourselves if Hank would have nuked Shady Sands if he had known it was started by former vault dwellers. I personally think he would have because they broke away from Vault-Tec. I still think Vault-Tec didn't drop the bombs..they thought about it but were beaten to the punch by the Chinese.
Or, they set one off the LA. Knowing that the Americans would suspect and retaliate against the Chinese. . .who would, in turn, do the same. You don't need to drop all the bombs. . . Just the first one.
The last shot was of New Vegas, which is what Fallout calls it's iteration of Las Vegas and they said will be the setting for season 2. I'm so excited for you guys to see it.
There's many folks who lived for hundreds of years in the FO universe. In the Boston Commonwealth there's a family that have been alive since the 1800's.
Maybe, but I feel Dane would have been more privy to share what was going on. They've proven to be in Maximus' corner, but allowing Maximus to be questioned with potential penalty of death is a risk you likely don't want to put your romantic target into. It's possible, and at least season 1 shows Dane is about as good and loyal of a friend you can have in this chapter of the Brotherhood, so who knows?

The man who runs Rob Co is Mr.House the main antagonist of fallout New Vegas. The only character from the games given a live action role.
House isn't the main antagonist. Legion or NCR are. He's more of an optional speed bump.

Absolutely loved the show, I think a key part of what made it work was that they didn't set out to make a video game adaptation, but instead to tell another story in the Fallout universe through the medium of streamed television. They made sure they knew their world and unfolded the story from there.

So true, it's a stand alone built in the fallout world. It takes place after fallout 4 in the time line.
To give a bit of context, neither the remnants of the NCR nor the Brotherhood were fighting each other for freedom, they've been at war for the last 40 years or so. They had disagreements on how technology should be used and handled in the wasteland after the ending of Fallout 2 in 2242, which eventually broke out into a war by the late 2250s/early 2260s.
It's as Maximus was saying when he and Lucy were standing at the edge of the Shady Sands crater, "Everyone wants to save the world, they just disagree on how."
If the NCR leadership at the time would have been more understanding and accommodating of Brotherhood of Steel’s beliefs (like the previous NCR administrations have) war could have been avoided. While the NCR eventually got the upper hand on the battlefield due to replenishing their ranks far easier and quicker, the Brotherhood did things like destroying the NCR’s gold reserves, which likely contributed to the NCR’s eventual decline.
The guy who asked "How can you guarantee results?" was Robert House, who owns the Lucky 38 Casino and Resort in New Vegas, where Hank was headed at the end.

In the games the two headed bear represents The New California Republic they were in some games the good guys. Shady sands was the capital of that republic.

May the NCR never die! That was one of the best reveals, that these "raiders" were just all that was left of the "good guys" on the west coast.
The NCR are arguably the biggest good guys (at least a army) on the west coast, but the Brotherhood of Steel take second place, and they don’t have to worry about internal corruption bringing them down (having a large military was a big drain for the NCR). The Brotherhood of Steel needs to create a protectorate system where they agree to take on anything a well organized local militia (like the Minuteman) can’t handle, in exchange for bringing in any advanced technology, allowing Brotherhood volunteer recruitment, and providing what tribute the local communities can spare. The eastern BOS DC chapter probably already did this in DC and Boston.

Hank went to Vegas, now called New Vegas. He cant return to the vaults because he was on the surface. Hes hoping that one of the people at the round tabek, mr. House is still alive. Possibly Howards wife went to Vegas. I loved the games. This show was great cause it was original. This takes place after all the ither games and from the game producers is a lead into the next game Fallout 5.

Some believe the head of the brotherhood is the one who saved maximus after the blast. Hence his relative leniency with him.
As someone who played the games, I think the TV series has so far been excellent. There are all kinds of little touches that show they did the research.
There are a few thing that aren't right. Shady Sands isn't in the right place (though this is not the first time the location of Shady Sands has been moved so I'm included to just shrug that one off).
The biggest one that has gamers upset is a blackboard we see in Vault 4 depicting a timeline of recent events with the NCR. The timeline itself doesn't work with the games, which is irritating since the TV show is supposed to be cannon. The people behind the games/show have had to come out to say no,, it does fit into the cannon of the games.
Essentially the issue is the end of the timeline which says 2277: Fall of Shady Sands --> Boom. Because ever other event has a date, this was taken to mean Shady Sands had a bomb dropped on it in 2277. Which can't have happened because it was still around later. The production people are all like "no, no, no, that doesn't mean it was bombed in 2277." And while it is nice to have them acknowledging the mistake, we either have bad writing that the production is trying to cover up, or the prop guys (who otherwise made really excellent props) screwed the pooch on making this prop.
I think those are the two major controversies I've heard from the gamer side of things. Gamers are also curious about the drugs that the ghoul is taken because we've never seen those before. But people are less mad about it and more waiting for an explanation.

I would recommend watching Every Vault in the fallout series explained by Pattyrick when you can (if you can) since you guys finished the season.
The location they are going to next season is New Vegas from the game Fallout New Vagas. I wonder what they will change and what they will confirm from the games the have happened. (The games have multiple ways to complete quest and has multiple endings)
as much as i know new vegas has 4 diferent endings - ncr, legion, house, no masters/yes-man.
and in fallout 4 its all generaly eiher institute get destroyed by either brotherhood or minutemen or it takes down brotherhood (main rival) , not sure about other endings

You may ask yourselves if Hank would have nuked Shady Sands if he had known it was started by former vault dwellers. I personally think he would have because they broke away from Vault-Tec. I still think Vault-Tec didn't drop the bombs..they thought about it but were beaten to the punch by the Chinese.
I think at a bare minimum they failed to share intelligence with the US authorities that an attack was imminent.
I think the point is, they didn't drop them all. They dropped a few which started the war they wanted to happen. They were the spark.
Or, they set one off the LA. Knowing that the Americans would suspect and retaliate against the Chinese. . .who would, in turn, do the same. You don't need to drop all the bombs. . . Just the first one.
Or at a bare minimum failed to inform US intelligence of crucial information.

The last shot was of New Vegas, which is what Fallout calls it's iteration of Las Vegas and they said will be the setting for season 2. I'm so excited for you guys to see it.

Maybe, but I feel Dane would have been more privy to share what was going on. They've proven to be in Maximus' corner, but allowing Maximus to be questioned with potential penalty of death is a risk you likely don't want to put your romantic target into. It's possible, and at least season 1 shows Dane is about as good and loyal of a friend you can have in this chapter of the Brotherhood, so who knows?
I personally doubt it - I feel like there isn't enough in the subtext to properly imply this.
