I got a DUI and it was absolutely one of the most darkest times of my life. in Canada (where I live) they are pretty strict. I lost my license for 6 months and I still have the interlock device for another 10 months. But I learned my lesson and I will not drink and drive again, so not worth the 7000$ from all the fines and the 800$ to get the car out of the impound. I’m just glad i learned my lesson before something worse happened. Don’t drink and drive , it’s not “if” you get caught, it’s “when” you get caught.
Kaylynn- THAT is the best answer about learning from it and never drinking and driving again. That realization/ lesson was completely missing from Cody's video. Infuriating.
That's honestly a lot more relaxed then NC DWI.12 months unsupervised probation,12 months no license, 12 months of interlock. So far its been 2450 approximately, and 95 a month for interlock. It just that much worse cause while it was impounded something was sawed off and destroyed the car. I'm not factoring in the cost of getting my license reinstated, dwi class fees.
Terrible experience on my end my 1St dui was a nightmare fine, dui classes, court cost, probation this is serious staff thank God this change my life for good and been sober for 15 years now I’m happy and glad I stopped drinking good luck anybody out there looking at this video it’s not worth it do not drink and drive safe your self $$$ freedom thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I just got arrested for a DUI and I'm freaking out. It isn't necessarily the fines, probation, or having to go to classes/community services that's getting to me. It's having to spend time in Jail. A couple weeks is fine but I can't afford to stay in jail for months. I just hope I get as lucky as you.
Someone ran a red light and hit me, but just because I had a bottle of liquor and drank a couple hours before, I was the only one who got arrested and a DUI
Yes it is - And the more you make, the higher you go in your career the harder the fall can be for even one slip up. Everyone makes mistakes, but knowing the consequences and reflecting on them have been a major helping point in making critical decisions such as this.
Dear god. That’s intense! I just got my first dui back in September at the beginning of the month. Had court the beginning of October. I’m on three months probation and have to check in with my po every two weeks. I have to attend victim impact panel (done) and dui school. I had about 900 dollars in fines. 600 already paid I just have 300 to go now. And have to attend 20 aa sessions. A lot of people say I have it easy and I’m thankful for it honestly. I can’t imagine three years probation.
I had an ignition interlock in my vehicle for 4 years. It sucked monkey balls. I was supposed to lose my license for 5 years after a second offense while involved in an accident. I got a HARDSHIP license after one year of not driving. Only problem was that I had to have the ignition interlock for two years with the restricted driving license. When I got my full time non restricted license I still had to have the ignition interlock for another two years. 4 freaking years. I got through it and I don't even think about drinking and driving again. DONT DO IT I TELL EVERYONE!!! CUZ THAT FUCKING SUCKED!
Wow, crazy story! Makes my DUI seem like nothing lol, thanks for making me feel better about my situation haha! You guys have it so hard in the US, all i got was a year banned from driving and a fine - plus in the local newspaper FML.
I got a dui this past January. Had an accident, thankfully nobody else was involved. Got arrested. Still waiting for my trial day which is next month. My lawyer gave me a list of things I needed to do before my trial; dui classes, mental evaluation, MADD classes, ignition interlock device, etc. I have completed everything my lawyer wanted me to. I also gave money to charities as extra credit (hopefully). Anyways, I'm hoping my probation is lenient such as unsupervised and not too long. One thing is for sure though, I will *never* drive intoxicated again. I've actually been sober ever since.
Just got my first dui in Florida I live in sc. I rear ended a vehicle and was told by the officer he smelled alcohol. I refused all test so was immediately taken to jail. I bonded out and immediately hired a lawyer. I pray my charges are dropped. ☹️
Celes Joseph good luck dude! FL is a tough state but if it’s ur first time offense and they don’t have much on you you just might be ok! Glad ur okay! Good luck.
The hardest thing is when you got your first DUI and you've had to wait 5 years to drive. I got my first DUI when I was 20 years old back in 2013 and a day after my ex boyfriend broke up with me. I was formally convicted in court and got my license revoked for 1 year. Since than I've reapplied 6 times through the DMV and was denied every time they did my hearings. I've waited for 5 years to drive again and it's THE MOST debilitating thing one could go through. My freedom has been stripped from me. I lost all my friends. I barely have a life anymore because I can't get around and the worst part of it all is, is that I'm still WAITING. 2 months ago I paid a special lawyer $2500 to help me get my revoked license back. It's been 2 months and I'm still in the very early stages. Getting a DUI is no joke and even a first time offender can guarantee to see years of repercussions as a result.
@@radioromancelaestaciondond2462 No I didn't go to jail thank God. The officer who gave me my DUI gave me the choice of either going to jail or the hospital. I chose the hospital obviously lol.
that is insane!! what state are you in? when i got my DUI, and about 5 months later i was able to apply for a license and drive legally as long as i had a inter lock device in my vehicle for the first five months.
@@bladebrown8261 I finally got my license reinstated in August of last year through all the COVID difficulties and delays I stuck it out with the DMV and got it back. It was a long time coming but I’m just happy I can drive like everyone else now.
hi cody, i can tell you that a lawyer told me that after serving half of your probation you can file a motion to terminate your probation & an expungement assuming that your case was a misdemeanor if you don't have money to pay for a lawyer you can get a public defender to do it for free

A DUI is never good. It does way more damage than you think. The arrest and DUI alone can get you fired from most jobs like mine

There is a big + side to not consuming alcohol or recreational drugs. Still have to be wary of prescription drugs before driving.
