I killed them right after they crossed the gate, looted some legendary pistol. And during the dialogue with Karl, I realized that it was possible to talk to them, loaded the last save, talked, heard disrespect in the tone of their conversation, killed them again.

Never knew there was this scene. I played this mission twice and when they pulled up, i already had 2 of them commit suicide still inside the car.
