    13:30 i love how in the movie it's hinted that Barbra got bit. When the zombie's beating the glass door he doesn't have a bloody mouth, but when shaun comes to the rescue the zombie's mouth is now bloody.

    One little detail worth pointing out is that at that Winchester bar scene at the beginning, Ed basically outlines the plot of the movie but in the form of a pub crawl
    "We'll have a Bloody Mary first thing, have a bite at the King's Head, a couple at the Little Princess, we'll stagger back here... BANG! Back at the bar for shots"

    6:42 "And the front is open... AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" kills me EVERY TIME. Also, fun fact: it's not Ed who keeps leaving the front door open, it's Shaun, you can tell because when he gets back from the shop he doesn't close it behind him and that's how the groom zombie gets in.

    Fun Fact:
    There was originally gonna be a scene showing how Shaun got away from the horde.
    It explained that, while leading them away from the Winchester, he had to stop and wait for them to catch up every now and then because they couldn't keep up

    Fun fact, there was actually a comic about Shaun running from the hoard of zombies only to realise that they were slow and he had to keep waiting. He eventually hid for some time and then went back to the pub without any trouble.

    Ed and Shaun are maybe my favorite duo in comedy movie history. They got such a great chemistry between the two and that’s mostly thanks to the real life friendship of Pegg and Frost. It’s a true highlight of This movie.

    5:49 That made me so happy. I love that James called the Telephone box a Tardis, because I absolutely adore Doctor Who.
    Also, as someone who is British, I’m so happy that James covered this film, because it’s one of my all time favourite British ‘horror, comedy’ movies, including Attack The Block(which is more of an urban realism film than horror, but it’s got death and aliens, so whatever).

    Fun fact in a deleted scene David actually gets his apology out and his girlfriend literally says “thank you David, that took guts” and right after that we get to the scene where hes torn to shreds (with his guts being ripped out but thats obvious), but was left out for running time and to ensure the scene would remain horrific rather than comedic justice. Ngl i totally get it cause knowing that makes that death scene comedically dark.

    Fun fact: Simon Pegg was originally supposed to be Hughie in The Boys. The character in the comic was drawn to look like Simon Pegg. But "The Boys" took so long to adapt that Simon Pegg got too old for the role.

    The beauty of good British comedies is the total realism.

    Actually noticed this after rewatching for the 10th time, the part where shaun is shooting the zombies that are pouring through the windows in the pub and ed is telling him where to shoot, is exactly the same callouts shaun gives ed at the start of the movie whilst hes playing the video game, i know there is alot of reoccurring moments similar to that, its shocking how after watching the movie so many times i still pick up on new subtle details, amazing movie

    Fun thing. Ed foreshadows the entire movie to Shawn early in the movie. before the zombie apacolyspe starts he is talking to shawn about his plans for the night "Starting with a bloody mary ( Mary in the back yard), a bite at the King's head (Philip gets bit in the neck) Get more at the little princess (pick up the others) and stagger back to the bar for shots (they pretend to be zombies to get into the Winchester where they shoot zombies)"

      @@deant3980 that's my favorite running joke. It's perfectly representative of these dudes sense of humor. It's so... dry. It's just there if you notice it, but it's not an obnoxious, "aren't we so funny" bit that is so common in other comedies of that era. It also serves the story and character. It shows us how Shaun is a constantly put-upon drone wherever he goes.

    I grew up watching this movie, ever since it first came out. I love this movie, and I'd even go as far as to say it's one of the best movies I ever experienced during my lifetime. I was 4 when it first came out, and it was a major part of why I love all things spooky, creepy, and maybe even scary. It's why zombies are my favorite horror movie monster type. Every time Philip dies, I am brought to tears due to the fact that growing up I didn't really have a father, just father figures. Thank you for covering this movie, James, it means a lot to me.

    I went on a movie date with my girlfriend to see this movie in a local theater thats known for showing predominantly horror movies, and they gave us a blow up baseball bat to hit each other with every time you saw a zombie. On it, theres just "You've got red on you" in bold red letters.
    Best damn date of my life. I still have the bat.

      All three films of the trilogy have fantastic writing full of foreshadowing

    Shaun of the dead is the reason for my fear of zombies as a child. That scene with discount Harry Potter getting ripped in half as he’s pulled out of the bar freaked me out

    Couldn't "Hot Fuzz" be considered like a thriller/almost horror... Especially after finding out about the secret cult killing everyone. Please I hope he does a KillCount for it!

      Hot Fuzz (2007) really is not at all Horror as it is just plainly an Action/Comedy which is not related to Horror.

      Yeah, the whole Cornetto Trilogy mocks horror cliches. Hot Fuzz is mainly focused on satirizing action movie cliches but it also plays with cult and slasher tropes, while World End's does alien Invasion horror.
      But, not our series so I'm not gonna push James

    Apparently they had a private screening with Romero and were waiting with baited breath for his reaction to that line "We're coming to get you, Barbara!" ... which, he completely missed and they were all "BUT WE WROTE THAT LINE JUST FOR YOOOOUUU".
    And yeah, Crouch End is indeed lovely .... one of my uncle's lives around the corner from that house.

    You're my favorite channel because I thought I knew EVERYTHING about this movie, but somehow you still managed to sneak in fun trivia that I didn't know about. I've watched this movie the most out of any movie (at least 20 times) and it felt like I was watching it for the 2nd time lol

    The movie was filmed right in the area where I live. Their house is literally 3 roads next to mine and I pass by or go to the shops where he brought the cornetto pretty much every day.

      It's bitter sweet. It looks happy, but if you think too hard about it, it becomes quite disturbing. And that's a really good way to end it.

    11:59 two things to point out in this shot, 1. the guy in the brown jacket is Reece Shearsmith, a British actor known for dark comedies such as league of gentlemen and inside no. 9 (watch them, they're amazing), and 2. Martin Freeman (Along with Bill Nighy) was in Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.

    I love that flipping through the channel bit I feel like him missing all the zombies is maybe a reference to zombie movies seemingly always skipping from the first person to an entire outbreak out of nowhere and it’s inescapable, this time they had plenty of time to prepare or leave and they use the time developing the characters

    God the zombie Pete in the shower scene, that scene made me need to check the shower for naked shower zombies for literal years. Seems silly now, but hey fears can be the weirdest things ever

      I actually thought it was a reference to Big Brother when I was younger. In the UK version the host used to say "I'm coming to get you!" after revealing the evictee. 2004 was when Big Brother was at peak popularity.
      I mean I know now that it was definitely more a nod at Romero but part of me wonders if it was supposed to be a two-fer.

    For the record, Hot Fuzz (and maybe The World's End) has some very prevalent and pervasive horror elements. The entire first two acts are this amazing bizarro love child of The Wickerman and The Omen.

      Edgar Wright was also inspired by Italian Giallos and serial killer vs cop movies for Hot Fuzz and body snatcher/ apocalypse themed movies for the worlds end so in a way they have some horror thematics plus they feature some truly gruesome and unique death scenes
