- I had another set back and it got me thinking very hard about my life and how I am living it. My best expat friend in Nanning passed away from Cancer a couple days ago and his words of advice are running around in my head. Don't think to much and travel more. Don't wait until tomorrow to do things as there may never be a tomorrow. Live life as if it was your last day because it could very well be. This is a soul searching video and I think it is the start of a new me in thinking.

my daddyo died of cancer growing in his neck area..57 years ago. that was devastating to lose my dad at a young tender age of 14. I lost some friends to cancer too along my journey of life, sad but true, good friends. Life will never be the same but it's also a reminder to live our lives with no regrets. 🙏
There are thousands of places in China that you’re not been to. Go visit some of these locations.

Travel China Gweilo. There are sooo many wonderful places for you to fall in love with them. China is a great country and there is something for every one. Go to Yunnan, to the mountains where there is a lovely small town which is now a World heritage site. You will surely love it. Live for today for tomorrow is not guaranteed! Enjoy China!!

gweilo you need to do something actively so that you dont sit around feeling boring. If you have spare time, provide free tuition to kids in English, and you would feel younger and more enthusiastic and energetic . you would live to 105 years.
I’ve spent years in my boring town just being complacent and depressed about my current life and succumbed to alcoholism. The catalyst for me finally stepping out of my comfort zone and putting my foot down is when I switched to a terrible job with terrible people where I quit in only 3 days. I am now back in school so I can find better opportunities and hopefully work in China
You're developing a healthy attitude for the time that's left! I'm 71; have the health of a 40 year old and this video is good timing! No debt and enough cash flow to change my regular routine; travel, re-kindle connection to family, wife, and spend more time with my son who lives in Toronto.

Good luck with your traveling. We will enjoy seeing your travels on TH-cam. There are many unexplored places in China and an excellent rail system. A Gweilo trip from Beijing to Paris on the Trans-Siberian would be quite something. Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore to the south.

My heart goes out to you best friend, Ronnie. Life can be quite cruel to some people but it is what it is. Learn to cherish life each day. You never know what is going to happen tomorrow.
My best friend's mom died of brain cancer, my grandpa from my mother's side died of stomach cancer, the mother of my cousin-in-law, passed away due to uterine cancer, a japanese friend of my dad passed away also due to uterine cancer, both brothers of my mother's best friends died of cancer, most of them were really young, only in their 60s, just retired, got their retirenment funds, finally able to enjoy travelling and stuff, there is no tomorrow, live your life like it is your last, that is the lesson I learnt, I am going to move to china very very soon, can't waste anymore time living in some boring rural suburb anymore here in Australia.
I got all my financial problems sorted out, kinda, I don't know if mastercards or visa cards works in China? I have already linked my card to wechat, I got a place sorted out in advance, very close to city center in shanghai, and a few other income sources, I just don't know what is the best VPN to use, and what card I can use in China.
Wise advice. Treasure the moment and precious time we have to enjoy. Procrastination often leads to regret. At least Ronnie lived his life to the fullest and Gweilo needs to follow the same path. My condolences to his family.

Phoenix island is a man made island. The hotels that located at the Phoenix island were pretty empty because it’s not the tourist season right now. Staying at one of those hotels (5 buildings) is about 200 yuan per night.

@@jerrywilkinson2873 during the winter months many people from the Northeast China (Heilongjiang,Liaoning, Jilin and Inner Mongolia) spent their holidays in Hainan Island where the weather is still pretty warm and sunny.

Gweilo is in serious need of a woman. His girlfriend/wife will direct his thoughts inwards towards their relationship and away from outward musings and searches for eternal meaning of existence. Its a beautiful thing.
In life you can count your close friends on one hand, so when you lose one, it's like losing a finger. I lost my Mum when I was 11 and she was 32 yrs to a Heart Valve defect due to Rheumatic Fever as a child. Life can be a bitch.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I too lost my best friend in the world, an expat in China like myself. Shortly before I arrived back in China sadly. I hope your grief passes quickly and life moves forward. It took awhile to do so myself, but I am glad to be back in China.

Thank you for your video, the wife and I have been talking about moving back to Indonesia (shes Indonesian) but always have excuses to wait, wait until we have more money, wait for the kids to get older, etc etc etc. yours words motivate me to be more serious. I think we just need to have a swift kick in the butt to get moving.

Sorry about the passing of your friend Ronnie RIP. I do agree with what he said, do it now and not wait till tomorrow! I had prostate cancer over ten years ago, thank goodness, my treatment paid dividend and I am still here! I travelled widely all over the world mainly Ocean cruising. I would love to see you travelling within China which is a vast and diverse country! Hope to see you doing that soon. Good health and take care my friend. Also wishing you finding a partner soon.

rest in peace to your friend. and its true, after almost dying from covid at the age of 23 (my dumbass went to HK right on january 2020 excited by the discounts) I realized that all the plans and delays I made are bs. Its not sure if I'll be alive tomorrow, so might as well take that trip, eat that food, message that girl etc. You never know when you won't be able to anymore.
The mind is where the rut resides. It is a state of the mind really. It is not non activity or staying put in one place. One could move around a ton, travelling here and there or constantly engaged in one activity or another or be engaged with friends. Still, the rut is not going away. It is just being cast aside, for the moment, with the niggling feeling one is fooling oneself anyways. A means to cope with the fear of facing one's mortality. All the pursuits just a coping mechanism while death yet stares at one. Tragic!
