Also, ghost characters don't seem to be implemented yet. Usually, you'd start fighting ghosts by Stage 3. The "Good Morning" boot sound and attract mode intro doesn't seem to be in this build either.
the game doesn't tell us what version it is. Usually it says what version it is on the top right corner of the screen. And if you search for Nancy at SDTekken, you would find the article Nancy was first spotted at Korean arcades on around late January 2008. While the game had been out since November 2007 in Japan.
Tekken 6 was definitely a revolutionary title for us all, especially with the introduction of the bound system. It had cool ranks as well. I do miss the old days of it :(
correct me if im wrong but didn't the location test builds specifically state they were a location test in some screen before fights. the early location tests from july 2007 had bob as a locked character so this build is definitely after that period, perhaps in september? it is also interesting how this build has a namco logo meanwhile the final release from november had a namco bandai games logo. im not too familiar with t6's graphics but some of the shadows seem to be of much higher quality although that could be because of the resolution increase.
Rage looked different in the first beta too (flaming hands instead of red streaks). I think you could also bound twice in a combo on walled stages- once before the wall and a second time from a wallsplat
Zafina,Leo,Miguel and Bob are available here. And it's seems Lars,Alisa and one unknown character(dunno who it might be) are not available in character select(question mark icon)
That unknown character is Mokujin who is not available in this beta version as he was added later on during development, and Lars and Alisa haven't even existed yet until 2008 when Bloodline Rebellion was made
1. Kaz was more busted than even DVJ 2. Kaz & Bob was joint best character in the game, Bob was easier, but if you have high level of execution Kaz was simply unstoppable
Tekken 7 was a very low budget game, like a last try of namco that only happen because someone convince namco to give them a little bit of budget and see what comes out.
I think Bob was better but the biggest 3 nerfs Kazuya got were Electric recovery on block and whiff being much worse, 112 no wall splat, and df2 no more clean hit on block to make it safe. Less important was that his staple wall combos in 6.0 didn't work anymore and single hellsweep didn't trip making his oki worse.
112 wallsplat, his wall combo was uf4444 and was very consistent,f4 was basically heihachi f4 where's you duck you die,and maybe his db4 still t5 version ( I don't know 100% about this),but you can see old kazuya match's in t6 arcade and see this shit,is more likely to you find main street ryu matches
is there any way to get Tekken 6.0 vanilla running on PC or does one have to actaully track down a arcade cabinet?? also might be very impossible to do so
I just hope for the unreleased/undocumented Tekken arcade variants Harada has shown or just mentioned There's this arcade machine of Tag Tournament named TTTurbo or something that has joke movesets and a lot of stuff that has not been properly documented Also, I'm pretty sure they have showcased these rare arcade machines at events, but I can't find enough documentation
As a guy who played this version of 6 at the arcade before BR came, this brings back some memories... A lot of questionable changes were done on this... Asuka, Bryan, Bruce, and a few on the top of my head were buffed, while Lili got some really ugly nerfs, one of which was her hopkick(and iirc her uppercut too) causing her opponent to crumple down rather than outright launch... lemme tell ya a LOT of Lili mains got mad as fuck on that change. Leo and Miguel were very good additions, but... Bob. Good god, Bob was a nightmare in this iteration. He was essentially the best "Mishima" lol
@nightwalkstreet9979 in BR, she got her hopkick and uppercut behaving normal again. Also she got a new bound move which is more consistent than all her other bound options
I'm fairly sure df2 still traditionally launched and it was safer in 6.0. I believe it was -10 or -7 if you went into backturn. Hopkick did have a screw effect originally but I believe it depended on the stage position whether that was a good or bad thing, you still got a full combo. An interesting thing about hopkick is that it still had a screw effect in early versions of BR although it would have a more traditional launch effect by the time the console version came out. Lili in 6.0 was definitely interesting. While she did get a few of her new moves (like d3 and her standing 3 + its extensions), she still had a bunch of her old 5DR moves as well which would later be replaced in BR. She did get some nice improvements in BR but she also had some nasty stuff in 6.0 that would never come back. WS4/qcf4 launched on counter hit (basically a safe 13f mid ch launcher/11f ws ch launcher), 4,1,3 launched if it hit on the side, 3,2 had less recovery, making it better for combo filler and SS1+2 led to a full d3+4 launch on counter hit for a close to 90% combo on wall stages (it was still -2 on block iirc). Her f3+4,3,4 also did more damage and considering that was her main wall ender in 6 (and 6.0 had lower health/less ground damage scaling than BR), that was quite good. And just for good measure, some notable improvements in BR were she got 2,4 as a 10f knockdown wallsplat punish (it was only a CH string in 6.0), she got f2,3 as a 13f CH launcher and a new combo tool (although her old f2,1+2 was far deadlier counter hit tool at the wall), f1+2 and df3 were nice new bound tools compared to her old b1 and she got fc df1 as a 14f launcher from crouch (in 6.0, the move was her qcf1). Lili overall traded buffs/nerfs going into BR, getting some nice buffs but some of her more egregious things in 6.0 were taken away. From what I've heard from experts in recent years, she is considered better in 6.0 than BR but she still overall had a nice transition to BR.
@bigbangbot-SuperSqank yeah, 6.0 Lili was still used overall(she's just fucking popular here in these parks). That hopkick nerf was definitely the most interesting of the bunch of changed she received from 5DR to 6.0. She definitely was fixed in BR.
@World_of_Worlds lol, I know you were joking, yeah, I tried to finish this gameplay as quickly as I could and Kazuya’s move was pretty damaging in this version of the game :)

Now I wonder if this game's ALL-Net card system was emulated since I would love to use the cards for arcade Tekken 6 to customize!
I still need to hunt down a set to see how the stuff works 🙂

Is it me or this looks graphicly better then the home ports ?
Arcades run on a computer usually with higher graphic settings than what a console like a PS3 could produce. Probably performs better too.
tekken 6 arcade is 720p natively and the consoles are 568p stretched, which is why console looked alot fuzzier
The arcade versions used PS3 hardware but yeah, it’s natively 720p that’s being upscaled to 1360x768p
sorry the console res is 576p, not 568p
I still need to ask Harada what happened with the PS3 version as the Namco System 357 board is literally a PS3 even with the XMB.
Nice find, and cool info to boot. Thanks for uncovering this.
