Totally agree with this. A Strat in particular needs to be played in a few years. I've got a 16 year old MIM, and even though it sounds kinda blah, it plays absolutely fantastic.

well...not a huge different but well played guitars always sounds and feels better IMO.
emphasis on the feel. Nothing beats a well worn maple neck.
