Oscars don’t do well cause recession. Poor people don’t want to see rich people who were able to make movies n work during the lockdowns Pat each other on the back.
In America you have to get permits and meet certain zoning requirements, depending on what you want to build on your property, but for the most part the local town/city/county won't deny you or throw up massive roadblocks. Some will, but those municipalities are usually insufferable about literally all matters, but most don't fall into that category. Really the point of all of that is to make sure to dont try to do something incredibly stupid, like using an old welded-shut school bus as a septic tank. And yes, that is a real thing that happened in Park County, Colorado before they had permitting requirements; and also one of the reasons why they now have them.
I reckon there will be a renaissance in creative stuff. Soon. There has to be. The last ten years have been so sterile. Only a certain bandwidth of emotion is permitted now, etcetera, etcetera. There has to be some kind of reaction to that. It's inevitable.
I feel like a lot of people don’t understand wokeness and last of us proved it. It’s not woke trash just because it’s about a gay relationship. It was a well told Romance story in a post apocalypse, with characters who just so happen to be gay. There’s a difference between characters that are gay because they are gay and characters that are gay because real life gay people will like it
I didn't like it. I couldn't understand the chinese English mess, the action scenes were dumb and lasted forever, and it all seemed like an LSD dream not a movie. I would have like it more if Jackie chan was cast as the husband.
He was great. But what about John Goodman? Really good in The Big Lebowski, Oh Brother Where Art Thou? And, while I think his talent was often overlooked because of his appearances in comedies, I could watch John Candy any day. His performance in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles was really touching.
I think Breaking Bad is more of a universal story. For non-americans, maybe Better Call Saul is too insider about the american legal process and how lawyers conduct themselves in America (or lack of conducting themselves) to really love.
*I would like a, "Happy Hour," with Blaire White. You guys could talk about, "Silence of the Lambs."* Although, that would cause so much drama and oh would twitter have a thing or two to say about it.
Drinker, if you are going to watch any anime, please watch Attack on Titan, it's better than Demon Slayer. Whatever way you think AoT is gonna go, wherever you think the story is gonna end up, you'll be wrong (as long as nothing gets spoiled). Best twists in any story that I've ever seen. And no the message.
"Better call Saul" was great but I will never give AMC 1 cent. I was unable to watch the final season because they sold off the rights. It's gonna be 2 years. I won't be waiting
Shazam 2 was amazing. I had the most fun of all the DC movies, very lighthearted , without losing the heart of the story or the gravity of actions. Found all the jokes spot on and they never interrupted dramatic moments with silly puns.
I dont get why the mcu is benching the og characters that built marvel. The less known character are side kicks at best. They are great in small doses ,but without a strong story, they cant build a franchise.
No one gave Christian Bale shit for playing a malnourished guy with chronic insomnia. Or Robert Downey Jr. when they CGI'd him to look skinny and frail in the beginning of _Endgame._ But taking the weight _up_ is a problem? Yeah nah.
Damn slackers in Hollywood these days. Think of the stars of yesteryear… Robert Deniro in Raging Bull, Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber, Christian Bale in Vice, :) In fairness, it seemed like a lot of people hated “fat Thor” in Endgame. But that was probably more how it seemed out of character (and nobody was upset that Hemsworth didn’t actually bill up)
I'm genuinely concerned that Gen Z is completely devoid of creative talent due to the University systems and social contagions of the last decade. I'm strained to imagine a circumstance where Hollywood can put out quality products with any cadence. Will fiction completely die with the retirement of Gen X?
As a Gen Z kid, I disagree. It’s not that we lack talent or imagination, it’s partially that the world is so messed up and film just aren’t that good anymore. I’ve been watching older and newer films to spark my imagination and I’ve been trying analyze what works and what doesn’t.
I don’t know. Seems like Gen X botched Star Wars and obliterated the MCU. But (as a non-Gen X person), I’m reasonably willing to accept that maybe all of Gen X isn’t just one hive-mind with group think. Maybe some Gen Z will suck at Hollywood and some will be amazing, like any generation before? 😂
If the Oscar's we legit, Malignant would have won every Oscar. That movie made me laugh so hard I hyperventilated in the theater with my wife and son. We had a blast.

fr for someone who goes on and on about THE MESSAGE, he really doesn’t care about how the director said he purposefully snuck that shit in to make straight people watch gay shit. EVERYWHERE ELSE he comments on the behind the scenes but not with this one!!!
@@alakablamo LITERALLY!!! He ignores how they shoved all this shit in that wasn’t in the games and all serves to prop up THE MESSAGE, he ignores the neutering of Joel, the superior intelligence of Ellie and all women, and the clear insertion of gay propaganda into it when it had nothing to do with the story. Pathetic
I love the Drinker but, like the Nostalgia Critic, he isn’t perfect. They both have weird takes on movies and Tv shows sometimes but I like that they are willing to share their opinions
So you dont want gay people on the screen at all? Even if not with the intent of sending a message? When is having gay people on screen not woke then? Where is the line, and where is the acceptance? TLDR: Drinker had a criteria for a good episode. The episode met the criteria. He said it was good. He doesn't have to hate everything the Woke stand for, just when they are forcing a message. We all agree with equality for women, lesians, and gays (I purposefully didn't mention Transtrenders), but its ideology of the cult and how they go about it is what we disagree with. Drinker made it clear: He is fine with gay characters on screen so long as they are good characters with a good story. He compared episode 3 and episode 7 and stated that episode 3 didn't feel forced or was about sending a message, whereas episode 7 did, which is why he didn't like it. He still maintained his moral stance. This was his criteria. The episode met it, and he kept to his word. He liked it. So, how did he fall? He stuck to his guns, and regardless, if you agree with him or not, you have to respect that he kept his word. He gives credit where he thinks it's due. He most likely isn't aware of the BTS stuff for episode 3, which is why he said what he said. It's a shame that the BTS is to be the case because the one time the woke cult actually made something decent, in terms of character and story, there was ill-intent behind it.
Everyone is giving The Last Of Us high praise because its a LGBTQ tentpole, everything they do in that show has been done in TWD, and everyone is oddly acting like they have never seen a post apocalyptic zombie show before. I guarantee you the media would have not given it so much praise if it didnt have the gay agenda.
The relationship between the two men in Last of Us wouldn't have been a story at all if they weren't gay. So they didn't "just happen to be gay", the gay is the central premise that enabled the story. It wouldn't have happened at all if not for that, because two heterosexual men cannot have a close relationship under the edicts of Woke. And that's how you can tell if it's woke. The fact that the writing is better than par doesn't change the reality that the show is an exploration of woke because THAT'S the mindset of those creating it.
Farcry 5 is the best out of the newest three games, the antagonists in new dawn is everything you hate about characters created by a committee of the message. FC5 has great characters but the tone can be a bit jarring from comedy to serious. But you can drug yourself up and superpunch a moose to death.

The show deals with a lot of social issues but because it's made by people who seem to give a fuck, it's all actually tied to the story and appropriate to the times. Like, it starts in the late 60s, so women as astronauts are at first taken as a whole new kind of risk, but it's being pushed by the government for publicity. I found it neat how they managed to put those and other things in, you know, have all this kind of human drama, but make it so it actually ties in with the NASA stuff, because - duh - people's personal shit sometimes affects their work.
If you got dogshit on your shoe, but only a little speck of it, does that mean your shoe is NOT shit-stained?
@@RyoMassaki A speck of shit is easier to deal with than stepping into a several inch deep pile of it. But I'd more likely call it a kind of a rotten log with a well polished section that distracts from the rot for a while.
Another great Michael Caine movie is "Secondhand Lions" with Robert Duvall and Haley Joel Osment. It's an amazing movie.
America
Oscars don’t do well cause recession. Poor people don’t want to see rich people who were able to make movies n work during the lockdowns Pat each other on the back.
It insists upon itself 😅
Hey Drinker, please do a video discussing whether Jesus Revolution is the least preachy to come out of Hollywood in 6 months or in 6 years?
@NikocadoAvocado would have been the perfect cast for The Whale
In America you have to get permits and meet certain zoning requirements, depending on what you want to build on your property, but for the most part the local town/city/county won't deny you or throw up massive roadblocks. Some will, but those municipalities are usually insufferable about literally all matters, but most don't fall into that category. Really the point of all of that is to make sure to dont try to do something incredibly stupid, like using an old welded-shut school bus as a septic tank. And yes, that is a real thing that happened in Park County, Colorado before they had permitting requirements; and also one of the reasons why they now have them.
I'll take Shia LaBeouf over Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
I reckon there will be a renaissance in creative stuff. Soon. There has to be. The last ten years have been so sterile. Only a certain bandwidth of emotion is permitted now, etcetera, etcetera. There has to be some kind of reaction to that. It's inevitable.
Not yet. There is more horror to come.
But there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.
I hope for the day when films and Tv are good again
@@TheOriginal_Unaleska Agreed.
The night is darkest just before the dawn.
Talentless nepotism hires + AI = Quantumania
That scene in 12 monkeys where bruce willis beat that guy with the phone, I saw in the theater and it was just sooooo brutal.
I feel like the golf club scene will be the _end_ of TLOU Season 2
Drinking, I want you to talk about Once upon a Time in the West, please.
I want him to talk about The Last Legion(2007). It’s a pretty fun, if flawed, Ancient Rome movie.
I feel like a lot of people don’t understand wokeness and last of us proved it. It’s not woke trash just because it’s about a gay relationship. It was a well told Romance story in a post apocalypse, with characters who just so happen to be gay. There’s a difference between characters that are gay because they are gay and characters that are gay because real life gay people will like it
Does android Picard have super strength?
Brendan Fraser and Henry Cavill; two actors we aren't worthy of.😉✌🏽
Really REALLY wish he'd make a video talking about the 3 seasons of The Orville.
Everything Everywhere was at best okay and I know a lot of people that absolutely hated it.
What aspect of it did they hate?
I immediately called it as best picture when I saw it last year and I'm curious what the argument against that is.
At least it’s better than Multiverse of Madness
I didn't like it. I couldn't understand the chinese English mess, the action scenes were dumb and lasted forever, and it all seemed like an LSD dream not a movie. I would have like it more if Jackie chan was cast as the husband.
@@chasehedges6775 my food poisoning last weekend was *better* than the Multiverse of Madness. 😂
Full disclosure, I loved EEAAO.
I CANT BELIEVE THEY DIDN'T USE AN ACTUAL WHALE REEEEEEEEEE
Syndey Greenstreet died sometime ago and he was the last great large actor.
The point of the whale is a broken man that’s dying. He’s a human first fat second. U need a good actor not a fat man to tell the story
Solient Green, please review it.
I think Breaking Bad is more of a universal story. For non-americans, maybe Better Call Saul is too insider about the american legal process and how lawyers conduct themselves in America (or lack of conducting themselves) to really love.
*I would like a, "Happy Hour," with Blaire White. You guys could talk about, "Silence of the Lambs."*
Although, that would cause so much drama and oh would twitter have a thing or two to say about it.
"She looks the way she looks." Are probably the kindest words ever said about an ugly woman.
@1:42:30 , Duke Nukem, Go on Hollywood, I double dare ya!
I dont think comic book or superhero films are on their way out. I think the problem is handling. The studios have been so careless.
Recorded before the last Open Bar. Good content nonetheless 😎
Member those tik-tok kids who ate detergent? Pretty sure they were smarter than the Disney\Marvel writers these days.
I dont get why the mcu is benching the og characters that built marvel.
The less known character are side kicks at best. They are great in small doses ,but without a strong story, they cant build a franchise.
Mexican? Do they have real Mexican food in the uk because I know they don’t really in Australia
Real Mexican food is in Mexico. Nowhere else gets it right.
No one gave Christian Bale shit for playing a malnourished guy with chronic insomnia. Or Robert Downey Jr. when they CGI'd him to look skinny and frail in the beginning of _Endgame._
But taking the weight _up_ is a problem? Yeah nah.
Damn slackers in Hollywood these days. Think of the stars of yesteryear… Robert Deniro in Raging Bull, Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber, Christian Bale in Vice, :)
In fairness, it seemed like a lot of people hated “fat Thor” in Endgame. But that was probably more how it seemed out of character (and nobody was upset that Hemsworth didn’t actually bill up)
Don't know how people say BCS is better than Breaking Bad. Yes, BCS is good, but not in the same galaxy as Breaking Bad.
@@chasehedges6775 gotta back u up.. the people in charge of hollywood r dinosaurs.
Gen x anabovevrun hollywood. Stop blaming young people
I don’t know. 😂
No.
If the Oscar's we legit, Malignant would have won every Oscar. That movie made me laugh so hard I hyperventilated in the theater with my wife and son. We had a blast.
I’d rather have your older set up btw

You should watch the Alice in Wonderland Porno Musical from the 70s, its not even a bad Musical.
Drinker trying to defend the last of us is so funny, oh how the mighty have fallen
fr for someone who goes on and on about THE MESSAGE, he really doesn’t care about how the director said he purposefully snuck that shit in to make straight people watch gay shit.
Last of Us isn't 100% awful, so it stands out as corn in a sea of shit.
Definitely got the filler strategy from TWD down.
Last of Us was BORING. I had to bail and watched the first few seasons of the walking dead, which did the zombies really well.
first season of walking dead is soo good, im rewatching it atm because i wanted some zombies in my apocalypse show
The relationship between the two men in Last of Us wouldn't have been a story at all if they weren't gay.
Those goddamn contrived captures though
@Nick H hahaha yeah they did suck.
