True story bro. I really cannot understand some people . For example you already have a 2080 ti and you panic sell for something that its 20-30 % faster? even 40-50 in some cases but still. You wait other models to be released from nvidia and also the most important you wait for the competitor of nvidia which is AMD to release their new cards and then buy

Long time fan. I think you do a good job managing time depending on the subject. I like that you make videos like these that are pretty quick and to the point, while giving a lot of information. I also watch your other that are longer and in those you really explore. Rarely do I find you spending too much time on too shallow of a topic. You don't force yourself to do long videos and I as a viewer appreciate that. I think you do a great job giving topics their proper amounts of time.

    @ryujistorm 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

So, I always like your videos, and I really appreciate that you gave this APU a fair chance by going right to 720p on the benchmark tests for it. TBH, it actually peformed even better than I was expecting, all things considered. However, I wanted to point out a couple of things: [1] I can't speak for the U.K., but currently as I write this the Athlon 3000g's lowest price on Amazon is $90 + tax here in the U.S. - ouch. When you factor in actually BUILDING the system with a decent MB, case, PSU, RAM, SSD, etc, it CAN easily exceed $300-$400 if you're not careful. [2] While the price of this CPU by itself (and many other older APUs) have become ridiculous, I've been buying HP pre-builts with A8 and A10 APUs in them (often the newer ones, like the 9800) for as little as $20-$30 each (U.S.) lately. That usually includes 8GB of ram and sometimes even a small SSD. So, as a light, ultra-cheap gaming pre-built, these APUs are starting to make a lot of sense.

  • @bowrey118

When I switched to PC fully I ran a prebuilt A8-5500 with a 1050 2gb slapped into it. It tanked Warframe, and I got addicted to that for months on end, completely ignored the fresh copy of BF1 I'd just bought for the Xbone. Upgraded very foolishly to an Athlon 880k, a good lesson learned, and later invested in an i5 4570 which did me until I had pieced together a Ryzen build.
I got very lucky with my upgrade path, learned a lot of valuable lessons.

Ahh the good old day. This was my first APU gaming pc I had. It played all of my games really well (well... at the time). and temperatures were really bad, hitting around 90 degrees celcius on load. I remember watching your videos with my A8 6600k wishing i can get a better PC. Now I have a Ryzen based gaming PC, i never seemed to transition to Intel and I'm kinda glad I didn't. Sometimes, I always look back on old setup admiring what got me into this community.

I used to have an A6 7600. And at 1080p it bottlenecked the crap out of my 1050ti. I went from 20fps on Forza Horizon 4 (FH4) with regular freezes (lowest settings 1080p) to 50-60fps with a dip down to 30-40fps sometimes (High settings 1080p) when I upgraded my CPU to a Ryzen 5 3600 (and tripled my RAM). Didn't regret doing that one second. Now recently I've put an Artic Liquid Freezer II 360mm rad in place of the stock cooler and upgraded the 1050ti to a 2080 super and damn, this has also been a world of difference.

I had the A8-6600k and it was great fun. I overclocked the CPU to 4.6Ghz, the iGPU from 800 to 1110Mhz and the RAM and that gave an enormous boost (the iGPU is quite dependent on RAM clock and the GPU can be overclocked in AMD Overdrive)
It would be interesting to see a comparison when overclocked, I remembered the difference to be quite big.

@randomaminginHD, I would love to see you test the gimmick AMD was touting on those APU's, Hybrid Crossfire, some of those apus could ''crossfire'' with some lower end GPU's for supposed extra performance, I have always wondered how much that helped back in the day. What I always found sad about the RIchland refresh of Trinity was the built in integrated graphics based around TeraScale 3. The next year, AMD released Kaveri APUs that had GCN integrated graphcs. Those APUs like the A8 7600 are still receiving graphics drivers updates.

With any AMD APU when you are using the onboard graphics, or not from my experience the faster you can OC your RAM the better as that's just the way AMD's APU's have been for some time now.

It would be great to see some more older APUs (and top of their class) running stock vs. overclocked with modern drivers in an “ultimate GCN APU showdown” type video.
    1st Gen GCN: Athlon 5370; Socket AM1
    2nd Gen GCN: A10-7890K; Socket FM2+
    3rd Gen GCN: A8-7680; Socket FM2+
    Then also maybe:
    3rd Gen GCN: PRO A12-8870
    vs
    3rd Gen GCN: A12-9800
Both socket AM4 with plenty of reviews; but it would be nice to revisit AM4s first APU 4 years later with modern drivers and modern titles.
ALSO: could you add some Rust gameplay (with modesty filter on) as it’s a highly demanding title and it would be interesting to see how well it would (or wouldn’t run) on some of these chips.

My old laptop had the mobile version of this chip and it was awful at just about everything. I ran most games of the 2016 era on back at 1024x600 to just barely squeak by with 30 fps but then again I was mostly playing early access games like 7 days to die and rust which at the time were not optimized for crap. The main frustration with this computer was both the 5400 rpm hdd and the battery life.
