    Great, now I have another option from this position. I find the gift wrap works very well against bigger opponents.

    This is great, thanks!
    He kept hold of the gift wrap and released it at the very end.
    Would you choose to do this or release and grab the shin like you explained?
    Please let me know why you would choose either option, love the videos 👍🏼🥋

      He didn't really look to finish from the mount, I suppose that's his move/preference to finish from closed guard, so keeping the gift wrap prevents the opponent from turning away while you are rolling to closed guard. But if you wanna finish the triangle from the mount then you will have to control your shin in order to pull your leg around the neck.

    Great technique. I love the gift-wrap position because it is so controlling and slows things down. If you have the arm in a figure four rather than pulled around his neck, is that still called a gift wrap? That is what I do, and it is more stable although it uses both hands.

    • @MMALeech

      I think it's still called gift wrap Richard! It's a great controlling position indeed.

    It's funny. Our professor was teaching the same technique last night, with many of the exact same details. One thing he likes to do is: rather than go for the lock up on the triangle, he'll place his shin behind his Achilles and pinches knees together first and many times get the submission. If more is needed, he then transitions to the lockup. Otherwise, you and he see eye-to-eye (exactly) when doing this technique.

    In the first sequence It's not realy from mount your triangle. More from back !!

    • @MMALeech
      @MMALeech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's called modified mount, or technical mount
