    Very good idea with the planting Ali. The communal corner dirt bath for 'da girlz' is ingenious. They have their own 'Chook spa'. 😂. Good work!

    I really enjoy your mix of wonderfully posh locations and items and the everyday real work of home ownership and everyday living. I’ve learned a lot about cars, bees & chickens. That powder for the chicken dust bath is (Die-O-toe-may-cious) Diatomaceous Earth. It’s the sediment of fossilized algae. They use it in some toothpastes and even facial scrubs. Love from the US❤.

    The house looks like it's from storybook ❤ The paint on the wire did a huge difference. The butcher's block could be on wheels so you can move it around.
    I'd probably have more to say after I finish watching 😂
    Keep up with the good content.. 40 minutes I have a smile on my face.
    ❤❤Don't forget to take care of each other like you care for everything else.. What you have is a treasure and needs to be cared for and protected ❤❤

    Lovely coop update and ideas! Enjoyed it immensely! The weather was also in favor of beautiful, coppery garden experience. I remember my granny's coop - the fence was almost invisible, just like yours is now. However, she used to have thin metal rods and door made of wire as well, so they were truly blended into the background and very visually discreet. No need to stress that your oak made door and pillars are beautiful and of highest quality, but, perhaps, just to my liking, they might be a bit overpowering the size and delicacy of the coop. It's almost invisible behind the door from certain angles. I'd changed the oak door for the wire made one and, if oak frame/pillars need to stay, I'd cove them with some sort of greenery - ivy or other creeper suitable for chickens', so that complete impression from a distance is just a coop surrounded with nature, well visible and with no visible 'caging'. Just a thought. Thanks for the lovely content, as always. Dinner looked amazing! Stay well! XO

    Hi Ali fab vlog love the garden and all that’s in it!…living in the countryside nearly to our detriment we had a pen very similar to your own! With no netting on the top! Luckily I was in the garden as I saw a fox 🦊 at 11am start to scale our 8ft fence it was just about to drop over the top I shouted it ran please be careful also with the hedging a fox will use it to climb your fence so easily and you then stand to loose your girls! Xx

    • @AliGordon
      @AliGordon  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Oh wow! That’s crazy, I’ve recently heard stories of Foxes accessing areas with electric fencing, flared / skirted underground chicken wire systems & roof netting. Apparently they’re very cunning

    Hi Ali, to keep the coop fresh, I read that chickens can be trained to use a litter box with a reward for every time they use it, like a treat or snack. It may make the coop easier to clean. Great job with the ladies!

    Loved this Ali. Such a beautiful garden - so much work yes - but worth it I know. Also the time lapse was cool - looked like you were literally erasing the fence. We did the same thing to our low back fence which is on the golf course - it has disappeared into the background greenery. 👌🏼

    Love watching you catch up on jobs around the house I think it would have been easier to disguise the door had you have put it at the back of the coop instead of the front but it was amazing watching the wire mesh dissappear as you painted it

    Might want to expand the chicken hose and have an overhang so the food and dust bath won’t get wet during the rain. Any thoughts of having an extension on the poles so you can have wire over the top of the coop. Protection from flying prey.

    Have your outdoor butchers block outdoors on wheels and your able to lock and unlock the wheel. And your able to have the table carried near the patioor close to the outdoor kitchen. I agree have a variety of brush around the fence. Is the coop insulate? For winter weather.

  • @dionnevoller2903
    @dionnevoller2903 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You need a shallower container or just put it in a corner of the pen - that’s too deep for them to scratch around. The high hedging would be a mistake - do a line at the back

    • @dionnevoller2903
      @dionnevoller2903 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They also need to be let out from the ‘pen’ it’s too small an area for them - they will come back to it - but might ‘lay’ in your garden

    • @marijamagdalena7156

      @jcaj7102 I mostly use store-bought or already cleaned. When I have fresh eggs, or any that need to be cleaned, I use sponge with a scrubbing side to dry clean them. Or I wipe them with white vinegar. I don't soak them, just wiping is enough. That's my opinion..
