- It’s Marine Boy! The original “American anime” classic is here, at last! Produced in Japan but intended for first run in the US, Marine Boy was one of the first color cartoons to come from Japan, soon to be sharing syndicated screen space with the likes of Kimba the White Lion and Speed Racer (with whom it shares a number of voice actors). Teenage Marine Boy battles evil on and under the seas on behalf of the Ocean Patrol, aided by the amazing inventions of his father, Dr. Mariner, and the brilliant Professor Fumble. Also joining Marine Boy in his mission are his white dolphin, Splasher, young mermaid Neptina, and fellow Ocean Patrol agents Bullton and Piper. So break out your Oxy-Gum and get ready to dive into the amazing aquatic animated adventures found on this 3-Disc, 26-Episode Collection.
Watched it every Saturday morning on the TV, along with Arabian knights and Swop Shop.
Did Arabian Knights have a character Tbor the White Knight or was the from something else.
@@chombersSOpA size of a.......mouse . Brilliant
Grew up on this cartoon childhood memories 💪
I LOVED this show as a kid in the early 70's. Of course now in my 50's the logic of this show is hilarious. First off how do you throw a boomerang under water and have it travel like it's not in a liquid? How can you see underwater with no mask? Chewing gum that let's you breath? But of course as a kid you don't care about any of those things because Marine boy was COOL!
This clearly came from the same people that brought us Speed Racer since the villain voice overs are the same exact people.
Ez Target I hope there will be a reboot of marine boy
Lets see how that compares to today's logic. Ant man that can reduce the space between atoms, and so presumably approach the density of a Neutron Star (well, rather dense) but he can jump on someones shoulders? Marine boy is positively realistic!
And that was the point, it WAS cool! Back from a time when whimsical was okay because it left room for imagination. It was a science fiction concept of a show, that started with science solutions that formed from clever world building along side child centered suspension of disbelief. When ur a kid, anything is possible because you're not old enough to know why certain things are silly and or impossible.
What we do know as kids, is man wasn't meant to fly, he has no wings. Yet, that trip to Disney World on the jet plane sure seemed like figuring out a way to do something that was beyond the imagination of even the Wright Brothers.
So, why not oxygum? Why not a multi-targeting homing jet powered electrified boomerang (yes, Ez, if you look closely at images of the boomerang, you will see three (?) slots along one of the rear edges - those slots are for the exhaust gases of the mini turbine within, for not only powered flight through water, but for steering the boomerang to it's targets and back to Marine Boy).
Seeing underwater? Contacts. Etc.. Same goes for a lot of it. Some is purely fantasical, some seems possible, either way we as kids ate it up! The one thing that bothered us, as is with a lot of hero characters it seems, is the face. Sure, MB has his special suit, but surely his face is not special, it's exposed to all dangers!
@@MarineBoyGame -LOL, you just got done telling me it was imagination then tried to scientifically explain it. LOL it's a cartoon we get it. I don't think Wiley E Coyote would really live it he blew himself up and fell thousands of feet ...
@@RagnarBlox No, you don't get it, chief.
Wiley E Coyote isn't a science fiction cartoon now, is it?
At any rate, while you were having a defensive child moment, you totally missed the relevance.
Yes, the boomerang is imaginary. Is it impossible? No!
That's why it's science fiction, where technology follows the imagination and discovery, and yes, even whimsy - and not a cartoon coyote defying gravity which has as much to do with science fiction as your comment does with a good burn.
The fact that the creatives who did Marine Boy thought to add those jets, is so freaking cool. They're not obvious. The jet powered part I believe is mentioned in only one episode. It's just something that is there to find or not.
Now go play in traffic, Skippy. The adults have no time for your little boy petulance.
Wow. Memory from a long time ago. Saw the repeats in the 70s. Great childhood memories 👍
Spectacular, thank you for this. I was about 7 years old when I used to watch this, and my dear father was alive then! Am am now 62.
I watched it too as a child,
Im the same age as you . Everything aches
It was NOT made for the US audience. It was made for the Japanese market but with an "American feel" which was more popular at the time than animated stories from Japanese folklaw.. Later, it was "discovered" and dubbed into English and Welsh for HTV, and only after that was a dub for the USA completed. I was not able to discover when the dub for Australia was completed; my profound apologies if Oz got it earlier. If the Welsh connection seems odd, Welsh TV broadcasters have always taken "foreign language" movies, cinema serials, and TV programmes for dubbing into Welsh. The whole "Manga Video explosion" happened in Wales a good forty years before London caught up. I promise you have never been bored until you have sat through the western movie Shane in Welsh.
As a youngster in Wales, Marine Boy was once broadcast accidentally in Japanese rather than English or Welsh. Not knowing what the language was, and there being nothing else to do except study or go for long walks, I spent time trying to find out the origin of this strange language. Was it some undersea dialect? Does Marina from Stingray understand it? I had to know.
Eventually I learned it was Japanese. This created in me a life long fascination with Japan. During my studies of Japanese and International Business at the University of Durham, I spent a great deal of time both studying and working (at the nearby Honda motorcycle factory - no teaching English for me!) in Kumamoto, the home city of my now wife. I can say my happy marriage and the birth of two wonderful sons is a direct result of watching Marine Boy as a child.
This is actually produced and funded by Seven Arts/Warner in 1967 and animated by TCJ/Eiken
Kinda too late though as Eiken's rivals Tatsunoko Productions,Toei Animation and Mushi Pro already produced colored anime programs in that year too
This is amazing - Marine Boy was my first crush as a 5 yr old, and I still love him, he's beautiful...aaahh!😍🥰💕♥️ I was telling my 32 yr old daughter the same thing recently on one of our tipsy bonding nights, walking down memory lane, having silly conversations. I remember it all in vivid detail and colour strangely, but we had b/w until I was 17!? Don't think I'd even heard of colour then! Thanks for sharing this, it's cheered me up no-end! 😁🙃
Funny u mention your first crush was marine boy my first crush was the girl who was the mermaid in the show.
I found Captain Scarlet and Bat man attractive about the same age ha!
This show was such a big deal when I was a kid!!
Thank you for posting this fabulous blast from the past. I ADORED this cartoon as a kid, and I looked everywhere for oxy-gum. 🤣😂
Another afternoon after-school favorite. Wish I could build a time machine and go back to younger and simpler days. Was much happier times.😀💙👍
Oh my god im 61 and watched this as a kid. When my two got into it especially Pokémon I told them that I was pretty sure I watched early anime. So looked it up on tube. They are now 36 and 32. Blast from the past. I was 4 in 1966 lol

released
you mean released
For some reason I thought it was called Aqua Boy ?
No Aquaboy is what Arthur Curry called himself when he was a young prince. Marine boy looks more like Aquaman 2's protège Aqualad 1/Tempest (Garth)
Damn, I could go for some Dentyne right now.
@@JohnHonan1 tried it in the bathtub, no good.
Marine Boy versus Aquaman
Marine Boy sounds like Rudolph the Red nose Reindeer and his father sounds like Racer X from Speed Racer.
The voice of Marine Boy, Neptina and Clicli was that of Corinne Orr, who was also the voice of Trixie in Speed Racer.
Found this online. You can tell a lot of these voice were used in Speed Racer and Star Blazers as well.
Rogan got me here
Marine boy Sounds like
Milhouse from the Simpsons
Saw in 60’s
Anyone know what the original Japanese scrip was worded and names ??
When you fire all the animators. 😜
