Hi Mark, nice see MGB again, although due to unfortunate circumstances. Be nice see some runs away again. Also check condition of battery, as could be low on electrolyte if it’s been over charging.
Yes I’m due a longer trip! Goodwood Revival again in a couple of weeks though which will give it a run! Thanks for the tip about battery, will be sure to check!
Yes! The rev counter is all over the place 🤣 I think it has some electrical gubbins (capacitors or suchlike) that need replacing, it looks like it revs like a racing car but indicated 5k revs is about 2 or 3k 🤣
Hi Mark, great to see the Mgb back, qq did I notice slip it in second gear when you hit the traffic? Just curious as I have the same year Mgb and rolling traffic is my pet hate as there's no synchro in first gear.
Great spot! Yeah traffic on a downhill slope so I just roll until I can get 2nd engaged instead of trying to match the revs to get into 1st, lazy but it works 😂
That alternator conversion was a horrible botch! Did you put the split bush back in the alternator with the new bracket? It's meant to slide (with some effort) in the alternator body to take up tollerance in the mounting brackets. Also, be nice and buy a propper alternator plug with both terminals in one housing.
Honestly I completely forgot I took the bush out! I’ll try refitting that 👍 I also didn’t know the alternator plug was a thing so I’ll definitely try and get that fitted too, beats getting electric shocks of the spade terminals 😅⚡️
I wouldn’t say it was a bodge, it uses exactly the same mounting points and fittings as the dynamo bracket it’s just a different shape, the photo is misleading because the bolt on the alternator isn’t done up which is my bad, makes it look weird I guess 🤔
