There is a reason why Sizzla, Beenie, Bounty, Buju, Capleton cannot retire and are still being asked to do Live streams and shows to represent Jamaica. There is a problem when 50 year old dancehall artists are in more demand than young artists. Big problem
Trooper speaking some Facts!!!! Three things young artists need to do 1.) LEARN HOW TO RIDE EVERY RIDDIM 2.) GET ON LIVE STAGE SHOWS 3.) STUDY DANCEHALL FROM 80, 90 AND 2000
I agree on your second point only, drinking smoking weed and wearing tight pants is their "culture" which is for removed from real rock and the answer, it's like asking an up and coming white artiste to study Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.
@@marcmarcello981 when you know your pass then and only then, you will know which way to go. Don't be silly! It's not about taking the old style but to learn it in a way that you will appreciate it
@@instaspy509 it's past not pass, now why on earth would a 20/21 year old have any interest in hardcore/vintage riddims, personally I think they have reduced the music to rubbish but I am not silly enough not to understand evolution like it or not.
This was the best interviews🔥🔥 Trooper was so humble and professional, answering any question you gave him... Now I understand where he was coming from🤔 Great job, guys👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I met Father Trooper in Gatwick airport 1999 or early 2000 and I had to hail him and tell him I saw him on the BBC tv... He was humble and showed a little boy respect. Respect Ricky Trooper 👊🏽
Trooper need to have stage show called echoes of dancehall where he invite these young artists to come vibes on some old school riddim. Trooper yuh need a podcast general
@ fixx I think you should get more people like Rickey to enlighten these younger generations about our culture, music & food, one of the best interviews on ur show.
Ricky Trooper has a wealth of knowledge on the history of Jamaican music, you need to set up an organization to impart the knowledge (music, dancing, sound systems, etc.)
Ricky Trooper touched on some very important topics 💯 The government (PNP/JLP) does not respect the music. No reggae museum, no reggae hall of fame, no honor for the legends that paved the way smh… the government should definitely be held accountable. All they do is tear down the music. Big up Trooper yuh really talk me general 🔥 OD status to ppl who aren’t even Jamaican kmt… sell out culture
Tbh Rodigon does have a part in the history of our music ..he definately love the culture he could have embraced another genre of music but he chose ours ..and he brought the heat on lot of our local sounds in clashes too..
We should cheerish ppl like this, we doh come across them quite often, it's not jus a job he's very passionate about his craft, more strength n power to you Trooper.
Mi rate yuh Ricky Trooper. 100% truth you're talking. NO LIE! Some people need to relax and just listen properly to what you're saying. I aint even no Ricky Trooper follower but I know sense when I hear it.
Yes rickey. Enjoyed this interview. It's good to know that you have a level of education. Well said. Agree with all you've said. But David roddigon may not deserve an award but he has always admired our country and culture tbh....
Love this interview I had to watch it twice💯 The way how dancehall is going these days, it's great to have a perspective from Iconic Selectors and Sound men... Hope we can see more in the future. I think Pink Panther from Black Cat would be a great one👍🏼❤🇨🇦✌🏽
Hats Off To You Ricky Trooper I've Been Saying This Same Thing Since My Father Passing What He Has Done For This Industry & Country 🇯🇲🇯🇲 And No Acknowledgement OD Was Ever Given To Him Mek Dem Move Dem BBC!! RIP DAD HOPETON LEWIS MR TAKE IT EASY 🙏🏾🙏🏾
He speaking pure facts... The trap Dancehall drum patterns aren't attractive to ppl outside of Jamaica and some Caribbean islands... And nuff of the younger artists can't carry melody and ride a riddim... They have rough, unrefined voices that only bad man and kids in the ghettos like because it's a hype ting... No actual Dancehall songs for the gyul dem to dance to
