This is so awesome. Seeing RAFE performing again. Lookin' good as ever! Sounding good as ever! I saw on one site, the bidding thing was dropped. How much was expected to record a requested song? $250? $500? If the cost is beyond the requester's budget, it becomes impossible. If the cost is below the minimum necessary, to fund the singers/programmer, it becomes impossible. A balance must be found... I believe one idea for lowering the expense of programming would be to recode the software interface (removing the complicated manual controls), so that you can create a "script" that you simply type up, to control each character. I saw the video for controlling Billy Bob... forget it... that would just drive me crazy, trying to remember all those buttons and controller movements. :-D But, as for the voice actors... I see no way around that... unless they're willing to do so, at a discount, just to put a little money in their pocket that they might not otherwise have. Keeping RAFE going... and the cost of maintenance... it is a labor of love. You do it, because you WANT to keep doing it. You don't care (or can afford) how much it costs or how much time it takes. You treat the characters as self-aware creations, not soulless machines. As though, once the skin goes on, over the hardware, they immediately become... ALIVE. I would love to be part of a revival of the animatronic genre... and I have a few idea on how to accomplish this... if anyone is interested.
