I love this device! Fortunately, I bought mine back before prices skyrocketed :). My favorite thing to do with this is: find a bulky yarn of blank cotton core - from the sewing section of the store, usually sold on roll or by-the-yard- start your iCord with a #2 or smaller thread/yarn, work a few turns then insert the core/bulky yarn. It can be tricky, as the core will be twisting as you knit the iCord, but in the end, you will have a filled fluffy iCord. Really cool and very useful for accessories, handles, or making your own bulky yarn.
Thank you so much for your video! This knitting mill just arrived and I was panicking about how to remove the weight from it. Seeing you do it gave me the confidence to work it free. It's creating a perfect 3 ply yarn cord. Thank you for getting me jump started!
Pyrm has such nice products. Worsted yarn is definitely tricky but I love using crochet thread for eyeglasses holders, mask holders, etc.. It's a bit of a learning curve but after a few minutes, it's no problem. I've also used some thicker sewing thread and it works great!!!
That is so awsome, I didn't know about a cord machine 😀. Thank you so much, life or I should say yarny life just got easier. Thank you again, God-bless.
Oh my! I'm struggling with the purple mill right now for a project! I was looking up ways to fix/improve it when this video popped up😊 😂 I'm so glad it did! Thank you!
I work in Kindergarten and used the smaller okd version that was shown in the video. The old version is easier to hold, has better yarn tension and is also a LOT cheaper.
The clamp issue looks like it might be pretty easy to work around, some sort of grippy silicone drawer liner and an improvised oversized washer would add width pretty easily.
I bought a bread machine. I found out the hard way that my house is too cool for dough to rise. I love homemade bread, it's fun and easy in a bread machine. It's literally dump and go. But now I can make really good really nutritious bread and I don't worry about all the stuff that's in it.
Yep- the old purple version is a real workhorse. It is easier to hold, takes less storage room, the tension holder is better and it is also a lot cheaper. I‘ve used it excessively in Kindergarten for 15 years. Bought the new version after a kid broke mine. Absolutely hate the new overpriced version. Will send it back and buy h the old model again.
@@LittlejohnsYarn I hope so too.. I’m not sure if it’s still on sale, but I posted the comment as soon as I heard you mention the price so people can check it out!
I don't know much about these devices, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question--is there a way to temporarily remove one or two of the hooks so that one could make i-cords from two or three stitches instead of four?
thank you for the video. Quick question, are these cords hollow? can I insert a thin plastic headband inside in the cord?. I decorate headbands and croteting the cord for the headband takes forever!
Thank you and I have a table that I cut holes in for my 2 addi type knitting machines and a ball winder so I can just cut a hole for this machine and it won't go anywhere. Again Thank you
How would you say this compares to the Addi egg? I watched your video on that and you said that you wouldn’t use a worsted weight yarn on it. I want to purchase one of them for want to purchase the one that is most versatile.
I have a question and I'm hoping a fellow knitter can help me out. I purchased a shawl knitting pattern from Stephen west and you had to knit an i cord and then pick up the stitches to start the shawl i believe(its been a while) and i tried for a bit but i HATED knitting that i cord and the thought of picking up all those stitches afterwards was just too much. So i gave up after a while and i have avoided any pattern with i cords ever since(years). Can anyone tell me if you can use a machine like this or some device to knit your i cord for you and then use that i cord to knit the garment? Or is that not possible and you can only use them to knit i cords if you're going to use the i cord on its own as yarn or a Keychain etc. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it! ❤😊
The old small purple version worked fine . It had a better tension holder and the icord looked perfect. This new prym knitting mill is overpriced and doesn‘t work nicely. I‘ll send it back and buy the cheaper purple version again.
I've never come across a crochet pattern that needs cord. What kind of cool stuff do ya'll use it for?!?! These came out to pretty with consistent size stitches and all.
Bag handles, sweater edging, use as a texture in a sweater while crocheting (by that I mean using it as a 'yarn'). Off the top of my head, that's what I came up with.
Une fois rendu au niveau du sol ça deviens tout twisté et il faut toujours détourner après quelques rangs. Parfait pour petit il-corde mais plus long c’est deplaisant
I had the smaller blue prym knitting mill for over 15 years and was very happy with it. I work in Kindergarten and use it an awful lot! Even the 3-6 year old kids had success in creating icord. The only thing I wasn‘t too keen on was the weight. The old prym knitting mill was smaller( less storage room) , lighter, easier to hold in your hand and a real workhorse. I wouldn‘t have bought a new one. But a kid dropped it and it fell down stone steps and unfortunately broke. I decided to buy the much more expensive new version as I liked the idea of the table clamp and the weight looked interesting. But to be honest I am really disappointed! It is overpriced and not well thought out at all. The worst thing is the size and weight. It is far too bulky and heavy for 3 -6 year old kids to hold onto for long. I had no problem using the old machine while standing and cranking away for an hour. The big new machine is uncomfortable to hold after a minute and the hand gets tired quickly. Unfortunately the table clamp is useless as most tables are too thick for it. I tried it on one thinner table but I just didn‘t hold well and slid off a few times. But the part I absolutely hate is the tension holder. In the old version you had to feed the yarn through an opening on the outside and then through the middle of the knitting mill. It stayed where it was meant to be and held the tension wonderfully even when the kids used it. The new knitting mill has two open arms you slip it in between. It might be easier to feed the yarn through but the yarn keeps slipping out all the time as those 2 bent arms don’t close. That way the tension isn‘t kept consistent and the machine doesn‘t work as quickly and smoothly as the old version. I‘ve been doing kilometers of icord in the past and never had problems with the old small prym knitting machine. The result was always perfect. I am very used to using these type of machines but this one doesn‘t work nicely and produced quite a few irregularities in the icord . I‘ve tried it off and on for 3 days and the colleagues were also unhappy using it. This machine is a waste of money. I‘ll send it back and buy the smaller old version you showed in the beginning…
I never had any issues with the purple knitting mill either. I think this review is just a justification for purchasing a shiny new toy for a lot more money :D which I don't have any issue with, but I don't see any huge differences worthy the price differences tbh. Both do the job efficiently, and with a little DIY anyone could device a clamp on the purple prym as well. Me personally I am happy I have one at all, and this "review" did not convince me to "upgrade" to a new one at all.
I am not sponsored by this company & purchased it with my own money. This is solely my opinion, which I enjoy sharing with others. It's also on sale at Micheals for $14.99

Loved your comical and serious facts demonstrating the Prym. I found it on Amazon for $38, and it's arriving soon. Thank you so much 🎉
You are hilarious and delightful. Thanks for making a video about something I was investigating. A pleasure to watch! Also, your space is gorgeous...

What in the world does making bread have to do with making icords?
Thank you Alisha
Hey hun, can I ask you if you miss a knot how to put again the yarn into the machine to keep going?
Added to cart all ready 👀 thank you
Hope you enjoy it!
Add foam sheeting from the craft dept. on the clamp. Or a large rubber gasket from the hardware store

Talk away, My friend! 🥰
Hi lovely video! Do you know of a good icord maker with 2 hooks instead of 4? For very thin thread like DMC pearl cotton?
Thank you for this!
Any suggestions to stop stitches from dropping??? I get about 5 inches into a cord and they start dropping… so frustrating!
So great and awesome 💖 Thanks for sharing this so cool 💕.

Yes the icord is hollow in the middle. I insert 3 mm wire and bend it into all sort of shapes .
THANK YOU! That purple thing NEVER worked I threw it in the trash.
Did you try to clamp it on with some no slip liner between the clamp and the table? Maybe that would help?
That is a great tip!
It is still in sale at Michaels says online only for 14.99
Can silky satin cord be used with this machine?

Would this work with paracord?
Use a small table that has a holder for wine glasses. Put the Prym into the holder hole.
I love the way you think!

could fix the clamping issue by adding some grip tape on the clamp area. Would improve it a lot.
What do u use icords for? I am a newbie crocheter! Lol!
YOu can use it to make decorative embellishments. The TH-camr, Hooked by Robin, has used it as thicker yarn & to wrap things with. Like a wreath.
