  • We certainly don't have the greatest garden here on TH-cam, but it's still something we enjoy! Our peppers are rockin' this year and we had to share! :-)
Let us know what you're growing and what's doing the best for you in 2022!

To winter your peppers mix chicken manure with the cow manure and dress it with your tomato fertilizer put some some straw mulch ontop so the soil doesn't freeze see your results

Ahhh...if only I got this a week sooner. I pulled them all out last week. I actually tried to uproot some last year and overwinter them in a garage, but was unsuccessful. In Ohio here, we get temps clear down to 0 degrees, and sometimes colder. However, I'm not opposed to trying a technique like this. Maybe this will be an experiment for next year.
      Thanks for the idea!

I missed this one somehow… I can confirm, chicken manure is great for peppers! Our bananas, bells, and jalapeño are doing awesome!
For potatoes I’m not so sure. We have a ton of foliage but not many potatoes. Maybe I’m watering to much or fertilized at the wrong time. 🤷‍♂️

I heard chicken manure is great for all plants, trees etc. It's very high in Nitrogen, which is more for green growth, which kind of makes sense if you're just seeing foliage.
Once chicken manure is composted down, I think it has a better balanced NPK ratio though. (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium).
There again, not sure if you put down fresh or composted. Just my 2 cents. 🙂

@@dad2-491 It was semi-composted so probably a little hot with nitrogen but it did wonders for the peppers and tomatoes! Seriously though, I think your onto a secret recipe for growing peppers. I’ve never had a better crop than this one and once I saw your video it made sense the chickens manure did the trick.
Next year we should have a good pile of fully composted material. We’ve never really composted much other than having a corner of the yard for green waste. I’ve built bins out of recycled pallets and they seem to be working really well. Gets me excited for planning next years garden!
