    You definitely heard similar instrumental songs that are similar to this one. Legend guitarists like Joe Satriani - John Petrucci - Yngwie Malmsteen always loved the Arabic sound of this mode/scale. The Phrygian dominant or the Hijaz Maqam in Arabic music have this strong Arabic/Oriental/Egyptian taste. It's the fifth mode of the harmonic minor scale of the western music theory. However if you approach from a maqam point of view you may be able to utilize it more effectively, that will allow you to play more expressive melodies and phrases.
    Look at the charts included in this video, those will guide your way on the fretboard. Read those basic tips included along, those will help you get started if you are checking this mode for the first time.
    Anyway, Have a good time and spread peace. That is the main purpose of this video and all music you can find on this channel.
    You can support this channel from as little as 1$. Pledge a bit more and get monthly free downloads, this will come in handy if you are a guitarist who love jamming and improvisation yourself

    Annnd here it is. I've been searching high and low for a track that catches my attention. Most of them I shut off after 5-10 seconds. THIS though....this i feel. Very well done and coming from my picky ass, that says a LOT. 😎

    There's more notes you can use here. D# in some figures. Also, if you use a whammy bar, try playing with that, and try catching those notes between G and G#, or between D and D#. :)

    • @chusssMusic
      @chusssMusic  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely, I think you mean playing some arabic maqam scales where you can play micro tuned (quarter tones) more videos about those scales are planned. This video is just focusing on the phrygian dominant but you can play many more scales like Byzantine for example.

    • @Opiate1987
      @Opiate1987 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't know the names of those scales, but yeah. That's what I meant. It's fun to poke around with weird notes, such as those. :) Thanks for your input, and thanks for this backing track! :)

    In other words: just play the C major scale but sharpen the G to a G#.

    • @chusssMusic
      @chusssMusic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Right, or play A harmonic minor from E to E.

    • @caio-jl6qw
      @caio-jl6qw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or play D dorian #4

    • @Betazeta
      @Betazeta 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That doesn't change the fact that in E Phryg dom the half step next to the root is 2nd note of the scale up from the root and in C it's the 7th flat from the root right? I'm a shitnoob

      @@chusssMusic First mode of A harmonic minor from A to A.

    • @artificialinsolence3182
      @artificialinsolence3182 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      E-phrygian is built on the 3rd note of the C major scale. That makes A-minor technically the 6th mode, while C ionian is the first. But you're right with A-minor harmonic. The sharp seventh (in this case the G#) is the key note here.
