    • @chasingluminance
      @chasingluminance  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      for this I just set it to the star tracking mode, so there's no need to use the hot shoe connecter... it would work during the day, but if you want to sue the move-shoot-move time lapse features, you do need to connect to the hotshoe.

    Hi, thank you so much for your videos. It’s posible to make a timelapse and track the stars at once? In afirmative case, what are the parameters? I mean how can I to configurate the MSM for it?. Thank you again for your work

    • @chasingluminance

    • @chasingluminance
      @chasingluminance  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Carlo Schütz It’s very simple to use, so that’s nice. But for anyone beginning astrophotography I recommend waiting to get a tracker. Learn the ins and outs of your camera, produce some awesome images with it .... learn about stacking and exposure blending and THEN get a tracker. They’re a massive jump in post processing requirements.

    Great content. I am really curious, if this MSM can still do exposures more than 30 seconds, lets say 1 minute each ( much like a standard tracked image) and lets say set for 300 images, and at the same time rotate for a motion time lapse? In short what i am really after is a way to figure out how to do tracked(star tracker) motion time lapses.

    • @chasingluminance
      @chasingluminance  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I understand the question. And yes. The msm will track just fine if aligned to Polaris. Then just use the bulb and interval settings on your camera or remote to control exposure

    • @sailingfromswitzerland
      @sailingfromswitzerland 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, the MSM can either track the stars so you can take long exposures ... OR ... be used in timelapse mode so that you can take a photo in-between when it moves (i.e., Move Shoot Move). The MSM has 4 different speed settings for its time-lapse mode. At 15 degrees per hour, the best setting seems to be 0.1 degree / move, which allows for a 24 second exposure between frames if you're shooting 300 photos over a 2 hour period to cover 30 degrees of the sky.

    Why not take 30 second exposures at a lower ISO to increase the dynamic range?

    • @chasingluminance
      @chasingluminance  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an option for sure. One thing to think about is the final product... what fps you want for your video, and how long you want your final video to be. ... if I want a 10 second video with 24 fps, I need 240 single exposures... if I shoot 15 second exposures it will take 1 hour to get those images... if I shoot 30 second exposures it will take 2 hours.
      So if you know you have the time, longer exposures are fine.
