Maaaannnnn you’re killing me. I’ve been a residential garbage man and roll off driver for 20 years. Please get ahold of me to help you. So many tips and tricks I have for you
My uncle did it for 30 years. His son is doing it now! I did currotto can and rearloader and portable toilets for 2 years and not to mention FL commercial. I loved it. Now had to retire cause of heart issues.
We are rural and our garbage service requires everything to be bagged or they won’t pick it up. Put that in your contract and you can get rid of the liner cost and time.
I believe I cover it in the video (maybe I didn't) but that is in there. But that doesn't mean I still wouldn't have to pick up 7 or 8 bags that may be torn or leaking in one can.
I watch several small trash businesses around here. One has a small duelie truck and boxed in dump bed with plywood. It’s a single operator. I don’t know what they charge. None of the services put liners in their trash containers. They do require we put our trash in bags. And I do put all of my trash in bags. Good luck and I will keep watching!!!!!
A few ideas/suggestions: Set aside metal items and take them in for scrap. You can also offer free pickup of appliances as part of your service. You wouldn't think it would be much but a trailer full of scrap can be worth a decent amount. I would also see if there any options for cardboard recycling near you. Many places pay for cardboard and you could separate it out into your truck instead of throwing it in the trailer on the route. That would save you on trash tonnage as well. Good luck and hope things continue to go well for you!
I would suggest a cover for that spare. Make sure to check the tire pressure at least monthly on your pre-trip.. nothing worse than a flat or a dry-rot spare when u need it most
Good tip! I recently took it off and stored it in the garage. We are on the road so little I am wagering we will be fine without it with the tires so new. Freak blowout would sideline us for sure, but anything else and we should be close enough I can make it home for the spare. Might come back to bite me but there is another reason for it I will discuss in future videos (need the space for the lift I am getting).
@@CopperCreekCuts if your gonna run without a spare pick yourself up a blackjack rope plug kit and a 12 volt inflator fron harbor freight. That will take up way less space and get you out of a jam if you get punctured... as a tow truck driver that has helped many s customer that didnt have a good spare and wasnt covered for a tow
We had a local company who picked up our trash at our last house. The way he avoided can liners was informing all his customers that all trash had to be in bags. He wouldn’t dig out any loose trash from the can unless it was things that wouldn’t fit in a bag like cardboard etc. I didn’t mind because it made sense and seem like a reasonable request. Love the videos. Keep them up.
I have that clause in my agreement but still saw lots of loose trash. Not going to worry too much about it until I get a few more weeks under my belt with our company cans. This first week was a 'give me' for the clients.
Hey mate, i dont see many of your vidoes these days but just wanted to let you know your videos helped me get through a period of anxiety and insomnia a few years back after i quit smoking. Cheers
I am so happy to hear that, thank you! I put out videos every week, so TH-cam must be hiding me from you. I really appreciate you commenting and hope to see you around. Congrats on kicking the habit!
I don't think you're accounting for the tire loses you're going to lose doing this kind of work. The nails and extra pieces of metal will just kill your tires from dumping all that. I lived on a landfill road one time and I replaced 10 sets of tires in 14 years and had so many patched and plugged that you wouldn't believe it. Stick with heavy duty a mud grips. They have taller and thicker tread and are less susceptible to getting cut and puncture wounds because it's what it's made for.
Didn't mention it in this video, but covered it as an expense if you watch the video on why I am starting the business. It is just a video or two before this one.
some advice to you from a rear loader is check your cans and get a tipper also get a tarp for your trailer as u grow u putting liners in every can is gonna slow you down
I cover the tipper arm and the tarp in the video. (tipper should be coming in a week, I do have a tarp). Also covered why I use the liners. Manually tipping means I spend time on the liners or spend time on loose trash.
Only issue with a tipper is that it's going to tip in the same spot every time, which means he'll have to open the back end, climb in, rearrange trash, hop out, close back end. Eventually it'll get so full that he won't be able to climb in and walk around.
You got no idea how much I love this type of videos from you. I am from Germany and the culture about starting a business is very different here. So seeing you just going out there and taking each step towards that goal is great inspiration. I never thought I'd be watching trash service videos but I said the same about 5 years ago about lawn care videos. I wish you all the best for your businesses. Your down to earth attitude is always appreciated.
@@workingcountry1776 It deprends on the type and size of your business. And I was talking more about the mentality then the regulations. People like to think of "but"s and problems when it comes to starting a business. You hardly ever get encouraged to be self-employed.
It’s great that you and Mrs. are ‘as one.’ I like your channel. You always give advice and share the right way, plus the mistakes. This helps small businesses, regardless of the industry. Before starting or continuing a business, do a start up sheet with costs, a complete cash flow projection,, cost analysis, break even projection on each product, service, and budget for the business. Together these will give a clear picture of how the business should operate, true costs, profit margins you want, how much you should charge, etc. Google or a CPA can assist if you have questions.
I like how you break down all the parts of starting this new business adventure. Im excited to keep watching this grow just like your lawn care business!
Interesting video as always. Large/Nationwide companies will run at break even or a loss in an area to remove the competition, when its gone, they'll ramp the price. They play the long game, it's just numbers to them if they have other areas that can subsidise the lower earning ones.
I would suggest your wife prepare the bag while you toss the trash in. If you need help with mapping a route, i’d be glad to help. I deliver newspapers, so I know how to map out reoccurring routes.
Thank you for the email, I appreciate it! Our Jobber software is working well for now but I will take you up on that in the future if anything changes!
@@CopperCreekCuts One thing I've noticed with multistop routing apps is that it doesn't always put you on the side of the road you want to be on. And it loves sending you strange ways, down paths that won't take you to the front of the house, and in long roundabout ways that include too many U-turns. I'll have to look at the jobber mapping app. Compare it to some of the others like PlaceMaker and RouteDraw.
@@SandrA-hr5zk You bring up a great point if I ever get a side load machine. Jobber doesn't have a function to put me on the left/right side of the road when I get a spot on the route.
You should really invest in an arm, or hydraulic lift for the bins so you can save time and effort expended per pick up. A simple swing arm would save so much time and effort, would also eliminate the need for bin liners which would ultimately save you time, money, effort. Have you tried making a saran wrap like box with teeth for your garbage bags? Where you can roll one out, clamp it and tear? You should also offer bin cleaning services for an extra monthly fee. E.G I'll come over for an extra 5 or so dollars a month and water pressure your bin clean from residue.
As mentioned in the video, a tipper arm is 'hopefully' going to be a fact in the next week or two. I like your suggestion on the bags. I also like the bin cleaning idea, but the liners help keep the cans much cleaner. Maybe a service to offer outside my client base, but not right now.
Congrats on the new business my friend! I'm a huge garbage truck enthusiast and I think you'll do awesome! Here's some suggestions. Once you get a big enough route, think about getting a few rear loaders, some side loaders, and a couple front loaders. For rear loaders, you might want to look at the Autocar ACX Xpeditor with Heil DuraPack 5000 body. That's what my garbage company runs, and they're super reliable and work really well! For side loaders, go with Amrep, Labrie Automizer, or Heil Rapid Rail or Python, on either Autocar ACX, Peterbilt 520, or Mack LR. For front load, you could go with either Heil Half Pack, Amrep, or McNeilus, on either Autocar ACX, Peterbilt 520, or Mack. Just some ideas for you to think about!
Thanks for the feedback! I won't have a route big enough to justify the $1-2M price tag of all those. The long term goal is to get an under CDL ASL once the business can support it (but I don't even know how many cans that will be. I am thinking 400 on the low end).
I'm so proud of you Brad! I really love that your logo is on the orange cans, it really is professional, and helps to stand out. I couldn't agree more with your decision to use your own can. If I was looking at 1 of the three companies, and saw your official orange cans with your logo on them, that would give me confidence, and I would choose you for my trash pickup service. Now I am getting to see the struggle you were talking about in your latest video, regarding can's with no liner.
Tare weight…with a truck and trailer your weight could vary depending on how much fuel you have in the tank, if you have one or two people in the truck, whatever else you may add to the truck such as tools, cases of water, etc.
Brad, my friend, you have really peaked my interest. We have a huge trash company around our area that has bought out all the little guys in order to have a monopoly on about half the state of Michigan. People in the little towns around me absolutely hate this company. They are begging for new trash companies. I never even considered doing trash pick up this way. I am going to look into it. Thanks for sharing what you’re doing.
To turn a trailer the direction you want, you have to turn the bottom of the steering wheel the direction you want the back of the trailer to go. Well, all in all the first day seemed to go well. Replacing the liners seem to be the way to go, and I know that you will come up with a way to speed up the tying of those liners. Too bad you can't use some type of "zip" tie to speed that part of the process up. Keep your head up, I know that you will make this business just as profitable as the yard business.
Loved the video Brad , I was waiting for this. I had a chuckle with the reversing of the trailer, I know the feeling , as soon as people are watching and there are cars behind you the whole thing turns into a clown show. Love this new venture and keep the videos coming. The in depth cost break downs are great too. Looking forward to see what challenges these households leave for you next! Keep this work up mate and you’ll have boulder shoulders in no time 💪 Cheers mate 🇦🇺🦘
I am sure you will be inundated with advice and criticism from your viewers. Believe in your aspirations and focus on YOUR goals. Bottom line, you are footing the bill. To add to the many suggestions you will receive: Have you thought about applying an All Weather Tough Coating to the floor and walls of your trailer. It will keep it from effects of the weather and also keep it looking new. Also, applying a layer to the contact side and ends of your side boards will weatherize them as well. Add a tough coat of water proof varnish to the viewable sides of your boards will keep them looking good and protect them from the weather.
Brad, the only suggestion I would make is this; Remove the wooden side panels while you're in an area picking up trash. You won't be slinging trash as high up taking less time and effort. Eventually but some aluminum panels for your trailer, and get rid of the heavy wood.
Good tip. I was worried about if I ran out of space but I am not sure I will be growing so much week to week that it would be a surprise if I needed the extra space.
@@CopperCreekCuts Can you ask a metal fab to add some hangars just on the inside of the bed that you can slide the boards down in to when you don't need the extra capacity? Then if you're out on the road and need a higher side, they're there ready to use.
When you get more profitable and busy, they have new garbage truck that has an automatic hand that extends out from passenger side of vehicle and grab trash bin. Flips trash bin upside-down into dump truck and empty all the content and puts it back down on curb. You DON'T step out of dump truck, after the dump you move to next customer, rinse and repeat whole process. You won't have to buy liners for trash bin and you can complete more jobs faster.
My company requires all trash to be in bags provided by customer. Guygrabs bag and tosses into truck and leaves-probably10 seconds per stop. All loose trash stays in trashcan.
That's not a bad idea. I THINK there is room but will see for sure. I am having to open a car door every time to get a liner so opening the lift box is not a time loss (and it may be quicker, that door is smaller and lighter!) I wonder now with your suggesting if I could build some kind of box or mount that would let them spool out somehow. Hmmm, you've got me thinking. Thanks!
When you do landscaping for several years your backs made out of steel and you can lift stuff like this over and over. Me and my co worker lift stuff like this every day Esp in the wet leaf season and he's in his late 60s.
They make a trash compact trailer, be a great investment later on in your business. Good thing about trailer is if your truck breaks down you are not dependent on a single vehicle
I looked it up from another comment! $45,000 (ouch) and the real issue (well, okay, the real issue is I couldn't afford it right now, BUT) is it is 16,000 GVWR which combined would put me over the legal limit of 26,000 before I need a CDL to pull it. I appreciate the tip, though!
I would suggest collecting commercial waste as a start up. More volume more profit but first you would need a Proper heavy vehicle say a Rear loader or Front loader you could approach big mobs and offer them a service for them if the demand is to much to keep up for them they sub contract you out and service their clients or just start with making your own clients. Problem with Municipal house hold contracts is not as great profit, it is a stable income but not the best for profiting because not only of all the costs running fleet of trucks and employees and maintenance and you are likely to get penalised by city hall if you delayed their service or missed a street or three and drivers milking it to make Overtime and budgets blown paying for incident / accidents on properties etc. Commercial is flexible in my opinion less stress full and more profit. As you said you had to pay for everything when mobs sign on contract for house hold Municipals they provide a fee for the fleet of trucks for the fuel and for the transportation of the waste the cost of dumping fee is towards city hall. Also perhaps focus on recycling collection service as recycling transfer stations ins USA may pay you for Bottles and cardboard, not sure if such exist of scheme in USA but Australia we are paid $95 Aussie dollars per tonne on recycle material from the recycling facility but you have to make sure recycles are not heavily contaminated or you lose that agreement with recycle facilities so say you throw a bin of recycles that are contaminated you take photo of the client bin of contaminates and send them 3 warnings or they start getting charged for contaminates as you will be losing money if you keep having contaminates in recycling services.
I don't want to invest in the assets needed to service commercial. Much more storage space needed as well that I don't have. And this isn't a municipal contract. I am signing up individual residents.
There's a story from a used car salesman named rabbit. A felon got out of jail dirt floor poor, bought a old beat up work truck from him, and started a trash business. A few years later he had a fleet of garbage trucks and completely turned his life around
as always , great video, this a very interesting way to make money for sure, you do not want to do the tare weight thing until you are dealing with several tones of trash at once, at my local dump it costs around 1 dollar for each full garbage bag for residents but the more you dump the cheaper it is because of the up front dump fee we have , orange was the perfect color to go with for sure, thankfully you picked that color before anybody else around you.
22:25 what he was saying was that he doesn't know what kind of equipment you have. They probably don't allow you to set a tear weight because people would lie and get a really heavy truck for their tare and then just switch to a normal one. They could for sure do a tear weight if they took a picture of your equipment so they'd know it's the same by just looking at your setup and the picture. But yeah people would for sure lie or use a different truck every time so they just rather you weigh every time. Where as with trash trucks they're always the same and you can't really change much on a trash truck that will change the weight a lot as they are one big unit. But yeah they probably have you weigh every time because people are always looking to pinch a few pennies and the best way to pinch pennies in the trash business is to rip off the dump!
I suppose that makes sense. I am used to my truck and trailer being one of a kind so those kind of shenanigans aren't really possible but can see how allowing it on unmarked things could allow swapping.
@@CopperCreekCuts Yeah a few bad apples ruin it for everyone else. Using a truck and trailer would allow for swapping or loading really heavy stuff in the bed of the truck when you weigh your tear and then taking it our for the rest. Where as with a trash truck it would be harder because they're one big unit and there's not really much you can do to a trash truck to dramatically reduce the weight. That's why he said "We don't know what kind of equipment you have" because people would switch stuff out. The best way to pinch pennies in a trash truck business is to scam the dump site. Cause all you're doing is picking up Trash and dumping it. You can't really not pick up someones trash.
@@CopperCreekCuts I really like what your new trash business though. I watched a video a few days ago about some guy where there city cancelled trash services so he posted on a city group like "If I get $500 worth of people signing up for my trash services then I'll start my own trash company" and enough people signed up so he made his own trash pickup. It was on a channel that reviews people's businesses and gets all the data like how much they make and all that stuff. Then a few days later I find out you're starting your own trash business too. I was like Wow what a coincidence!
You need a rear loader! But my uncle started out with a truck too like you did and he ended up with 2 RL leaches went to commercial containers. Then retired sold it and now his former company has 16 trucks! It’s a start. Where did you get that back brace I need one I run ambulance and lifting patients is a strain on my back!
Wow. I've never heard of a company providing liners, let alone relining the can with a new liner. That cost needs to be pushed onto the client. Maybe provide the bags once per month at the beginning of the month. Have you considered just placing the new liner over the rim of the can and putting the lid back on for the client to actually then properly line the can? It would speed you up. Maybe you are spending more money on liners and time than it would cost to wash out your truck bed every shift or figure out a way to line your truck bed instead. I don't think it's realistic to plan on having a clean truck bed when you are dealing with trash.
Fluffing and installing the liner is something I haven't done enough to be proficient at, but seems to only add another 10 seconds or so. I suppose over a hundred stops that would add up to real time, though.
Take it from a former Garbologist, you'll need a compactor down the track. Been there, done that. Also, you're dump fees will increase too, by surprise.
I believe you! I am hoping to fill two solid days with manual work to see how much I can make off that and if it justifies a truck (and if not, how many more hundreds of cans I need out before it does).
Wow $8 might need to increase the fee. Going forward you should up the rate for new customers but have a customer referral incentives, where like they save money for x amount of weeks/months whatever when they get a certain number of neighbors to sign up, and then after their referral price period ends it goes back to the regular rate. Also what about leaving 4 bags underneath the liner you install? Then you only have to mess with getting liners out of the box once a month. New buissnes launches are hard especially with all the other stuff you have going. Not being negative but I kinda feel like this ones gonna get sold off. Best of luck Brad.
You are nuts doing contractor bags IMHO.... when we had a garbabe pickup that wasnt a packer truck he just mandated bags. He had a 70s square body chevy truck w/ 8ft box and a low side dump trailer IIRC. This was about 15-20 yrs ago. No can liners peovided, he just made us do it. Just food for thought. My current garbage company has side loader w/ toters for trash and a traditional packer thats hand laded for recycling. Its illegal to put cardboard in dump here
One thing to consider that a lot of folks are missing with the liners: Even if all trash is bagged, that doesn't mean there wouldn't be a scenario where I have to crawl down to the bottom of a stinky, juicy can to pull a bag of walmart trash. The liners let me just pull everything out in one go.
I’ve seen delivery guys and one of my local trash guys wearing balaclavas. They’re only scary when the person wearing it is trying to be scary. At least their balaclavas are being used for good 😂😂
I'm sure that Brad and his wife will fine-tune the process and look for efficiencies to make over time. I'm confident that the $8 per hour will inch up to $10 per hour over time.
Are there any neighborhoods where you could park near the exit (or main road out of the community) at certain specific days/times, and have customers bring their trash to you already bagged? I’m sure some people would pay to just not have to go all the way into the dump and it could save you a bunch of driving and bagging. I’ve seen that done near certain vacation communities, near lakes, beaches etc.
Interesting. I've never heard of such a thing and wouldn't want to trust X00 people to be on time so I am skeptical, but don't know enough to debate it.
@@CopperCreekCuts no need to trust except for those that pay enough attention to get their trash out and pay you. these people would likely pay attention to those details if you host that once a week, or once a month. facebook is great for those tight-knit communities.
Im confused.. some fl counties dont have regular trash pickup? Im in sarasota.. they have a full on operation.. i have never seen a small company trash pickup service like this besides junk removal
Instead of wasting time wrapping the ends of the bags, group them together and put a cable tie. Find a way to store your trailer sides on your trailer and use them when your garbage has reached that height. You are wasting energy throwing the bags higher than actually necessary.

Alright dude, if you are leasing that truck. Consider a Silverado EV work truck with the 450 mile battery. If you drive a lot the fuel savings is insane as long as you can charge overnight.
@@CopperCreekCuts ah, gotcha. That's a good feeling for sure! The new Silverado EV is worth tracking and knowing exists for future vehicle purchases/leases. Also AWD and lots of power. Gotta get the biggest battery tho. And, overnight charging at constant full 80 amps is necessary for full practicality. ❤️ What you do and all the info/experience you share! Thanks, as always.
What day is trash pick up day? Does this also mean we will get a trash pick up day each Saturday now? Oh and how are we marketing this new business, since it’s kinda odd I have no idea how you would advertise. Thanks! Love the channel!
I can't tell if you mean good or bad. 18 months no interest on $15,000 trailer = $833 a month. Unless you know how many payments you can't calculate anything from a monthly payment number.
Enjoyed the video👍 Y'all have the potential to be profitable at this for sure😎☝️ If it were me, I would fabricate something to hold your boards for the trailer . I would leave the boards out until you have reached about 2/3 compacity. Seems like that could spare your back and overall energy some when throwing the bags 🤷 I think y'all did great for a 1st run
Good job breaking down all the numbers. Super important to know all the numbers. I would have took the time to explain to the guy at the dump the system. Not arguing is a good mine set for sure just explain so he understood that is indeeed a thing. My questions is how did you get 200 customers that quick or are you saying that’s your goal?
The funny thing is in Cape Breton Nova Scotia, and garbage is free for us. I don’t know if it’s just Canada or is it different rules in the United States?
Your tare would still vary. BC what if U arrived first time with 90% full fuel tank and next time it's 75% full you'd literally be paying to dump weight U shouldn't be
I would send an email saying cans must be lined at the very least. Even lined and tied off. I know I wouldn't think that was unacceptable if I were a customer
This is definitely the wrong video of yours for this comment, but whenever I watch one of your lawnmowing videos, I get very motivated to go clean up my own yard, but as soon as I open the door and get blasted by a wave of heat and humidity (I live in the south) I slam it shut and plop right back down on the couch. One day I will get the weeds up though!
Tare weight isn't accurate enough on a light truck dumping 400 pounds of trash because the truck can vary 200 pounds in fuel weight from full to empty tank, plus you could roll in without the wife some days. On a garbage truck the empty weight and the payload are so much higher that fuel/employee weight doesn't matter as much.
sent that too soon. but yeah i think youll change some things down the road. gonna take you a good amount of time filling your bags with there loose trash
@@curbappeallawncarellc4263 The liners are the solution to that problem. I pull up, grab the liner in the can, empty it in the trailer, install a new liner, put the can back. A few ideas/suggestions:
Set aside metal items and take them in for scrap.

@@CopperCreekCuts yeah, I watched that one to bud. Hope it does very well for ya.
some advice to you from a rear loader is check your cans and get a tipper also get a tarp for your trailer as u grow u putting liners in every can is gonna slow you down
I cover the tipper arm and the tarp in the video.
Really appreciate these (and all) your comments!
Germans cant just go to city office and register a busness and start doing something?
Thanks so much for the feedback! I appreciate it!
Have an upcharge for extra trash. Ours does. You get the one can and two bags anything over that you get charged
Will do!
I like how you break down all the parts of starting this new business adventure. Im excited to keep watching this grow just like your lawn care business!
Awesome! Thank you!
Interesting video as always. Large/Nationwide companies will run at break even or a loss in an area to remove the competition, when its gone, they'll ramp the price. They play the long game, it's just numbers to them if they have other areas that can subsidise the lower earning ones.
Good point!
If your getting paid cash from landscaping you can use that to cover the dump fees and spread out your costs. 😉
XD Clever accounting!
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Tare weight…with a truck and trailer your weight could vary depending on how much fuel you have in the tank, if you have one or two people in the truck, whatever else you may add to the truck such as tools, cases of water, etc.
Agreed. Need to be as heavy as reasonable the first weigh in.
You are very welcome Sir. Make sure to let me make all the mistakes first before you plunge in! :D
congrats on the new biz Brad! I've been watching you since the very beginning and it's cool to seeing you do this!
Awesome! Thank you!
That was how I learned. I saw that tip in a video that helped me tremendously learning to back up a trailer.
My brain stopped communicating with the rest of my body in that moment! :D
Keep this work up mate and you’ll have boulder shoulders in no time 💪
Cheers mate 🇦🇺🦘
Thank you for the kind words! I am glad to know these are entertaining/informational! :)
Careful when you put the liner in for the next pickup, the customer won't care about ripping/puncturing it so when you throw it, it can rip
Good point, thank you!
I’ve also been in the garbage business for 22 years. I highly recommend a sideloader with an arm on it or a curotto truck.
That's the long term goal (sideloader) the curotto looks way too much money for my ambitions.
Never seen a GM replace the G bag.
Understand Why but losing money on that end.
Tossing those bags ouch..
Thanks for watching!
I am sure you will be inundated with advice and criticism from your viewers. Believe in your aspirations and focus on YOUR goals. Bottom line, you are footing the bill.
To add to the many suggestions you will receive:
Have you thought about applying an All Weather Tough Coating to the floor and walls of your trailer. It will keep it from effects of the weather and also keep it looking new. Also, applying a layer to the contact side and ends of your side boards will weatherize them as well. Add a tough coat of water proof varnish to the viewable sides of your boards will keep them looking good and protect them from the weather.
Thanks for the tips, I'll look into that!
That was a great video Brad can’t wait to see how the trash business grows for you
Thank you so much!
More of these videos bro !👊 😎
You've got it!
2:25 _Look at that nice fresh tire tho_
LOL Brand spanking new!
If you get any scrap metal, keep it separate. This could be extra income.
Thanks for the tip!
That's the long term goal!
are you going to rig up a trash can launcher on the trailer so you can just drive up, grab, toss them over, and bam?
Not quite THAT fancy but hopefully somewhere between that and what I am doing now! :D
Be thankful you were not a binman in the 80’s in the UK some binmen had 2 trash can with ash etc on their backs
I am thankful for that. I would have been a baby trash man! :D
My company requires all trash to be in bags provided by customer. Guygrabs bag and tosses into truck and leaves-probably10 seconds per stop. All loose trash stays in trashcan.
Nice!
You should get a garbage can cleaning trailer and once a month go and clean the cans 😊
Another benefit of the liner is they should prevent the cans from getting dirty that often, but I like the way you think! :D
You should get like 3 side loaders and like 2 rear loaders and the side loaders should be amreps
16:00 can you put the liners in the battery box for the hydraulic lift at the front of the trailer?
That's not a bad idea. I THINK there is room but will see for sure. I am having to open a car door every time to get a liner so opening the lift box is not a time loss (and it may be quicker, that door is smaller and lighter!) I wonder now with your suggesting if I could build some kind of box or mount that would let them spool out somehow. Hmmm, you've got me thinking. Thanks!
When you do landscaping for several years your backs made out of steel and you can lift stuff like this over and over. Me and my co worker lift stuff like this every day Esp in the wet leaf season and he's in his late 60s.
Hopefully I get there soon! :D
@@CopperCreekCuts CDL super easy to get it definitely worth getting done you wouldn’t have to worry about it, I just got mine only reason I say that
I would suggest collecting commercial waste as a start up.
Very interesting choice of employment
I'll do anything that brings in equal rates for mowing, which is currently a touch over $100/hour.
There's a story from a used car salesman named rabbit. A felon got out of jail dirt floor poor, bought a old beat up work truck from him, and started a trash business. A few years later he had a fleet of garbage trucks and completely turned his life around

Would be nice! One day!
I’m looking into starting a trash service I just have to acquire a pickup and trailer I’m planning on sometimes early next year starting.
as always , great video, this a very interesting way to make money for sure, you do not want to do the tare weight thing until you are dealing with several tones of trash at once, at my local dump it costs around 1 dollar for each full garbage bag for residents but the more you dump the cheaper it is because of the up front dump fee we have , orange was the perfect color to go with for sure, thankfully you picked that color before anybody else around you.
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!
We’re did you purchase you vinyl stickers and were did you purchase the strobe lights?
Nice set up
Been to that land fill a few times
Very cool, thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching and commenting!: Back Brace: amzn.to/3znkYmU
$15
@@DoctorRickSanchez $60 a month when the other two local companies are $36 and $43. I don't think I would stand much chance, do you?
vegeta, the issue right now is the amount of clients. No business making $8 per X can survive on 15 clients.
At least their balaclavas are being used for good 😂😂
there’s construction work in my town, all the flaggers wear balaclavas looking like the OSHA cartel
Haha, thank you for not mentioning my slip up while doing the voiceover! :D
You should find the gas station with the best rewards in your area collect what you can the more the better
We have one we use that is very close. I doubt the rewards would make up for the time savings but who knows.
Liner is a waste of time and money. Require the trash be bagged or boxed
But if it ISN'T bagged...
I admire how professional you always look in your attire 👍🏼. That adds value to your business for sure. Go orange 🍊
I appreciate that! Thank you!
I'm sure that Brad and his wife will fine-tune the process and look for efficiencies to make over time. I'm confident that the $8 per hour will inch up to $10 per hour over time.
I am hoping to get that (and more) this coming Monday, but we will see.
What about a bed liner and top for the trailer
Bed liner would require sanding the entire interior. Not interested in that. No need for a top yet.
There's a company that makes dump insert style garbage insert with a can lift would 100% be worth the time savings plus won't have to pull the trailer
Thanks for the tip. No clue what to search for to find it but hopefully I stumble across it one day.
@@CopperCreekCutsit's Perkin they have a TH-cam channel called Perkin mfg
Are there any neighborhoods where you could park near the exit (or main road out of the community) at certain specific days/times, and have customers bring their trash to you already bagged?

I’ve seen that done near certain vacation communities, near lakes, beaches etc.
Interesting. I've never heard of such a thing and wouldn't want to trust X00 people to be on time so I am skeptical, but don't know enough to debate it.
@@CopperCreekCuts no need to trust except for those that pay enough attention to get their trash out and pay you. these people would likely pay attention to those details if you host that once a week, or once a month. facebook is great for those tight-knit communities.

Hello! Just curious, in the Future if you decide to invest in a garbage truck, do you have a Truck In mind? What model or style would you look for?
Under CDL ASL. Many brands, trying to find any that may want to work together first then just go with the cheapest that meets my needs at that point.
Alright dude, if you are leasing that truck. Consider a Silverado EV work truck with the 450 mile battery. If you drive a lot the fuel savings is insane as long as you can charge overnight.
Which truck, the Chevy 2500? I bought that outright a few years ago (made a video on it). No payments.
@@CopperCreekCuts ah, gotcha. That's a good feeling for sure! The new Silverado EV is worth tracking and knowing exists for future vehicle purchases/leases. Also AWD and lots of power. Mondays! Saturdays are my normal upload day, so for a while it will probably be more trash focused. Marketing will be a future video, good question!
Holy crap $800 a month for that trailer?! That’s insane
That is very good advice, but I don't have your knack for fabrication! :D I think I will go ahead and remove the slats until needed.
You are correct, that is my goal. I have purchased 200 cans so need to place them all.
hope that lift works out cause this looks terrible for your back swinging bags, I've hurt myself doing that lol
Very true!
The funny thing is in Cape Breton Nova Scotia, and garbage is free for us. I don’t know if it’s just Canada or is it different rules in the United States?
The US has a million different options depending on where you live, there is no national standard for trash collection.
Have you given any consideration to the potential that the county may eventually find a replacement for Waste Management and put you out of business?
No. It may help you get a better understanding of the market I am in if you watch the previous videos in the playlist.
Your tare would still vary. BC what if U arrived first time with 90% full fuel tank and next time it's 75% full you'd literally be paying to dump weight U shouldn't be
That was another reason the full tank was a critical full step, but what you just described would still be possible for the big commercial trucks.
I would send an email saying cans must be lined at the very least. Even lined and tied off. I know I wouldn't think that was unacceptable if I were a customer
The liners are only temporary until we get a good tipper arm. No sense making a fuss about something that is only going to be around a few months.
Haha, keep trying! :D
Makes sense!
i love this idea
Thanks!
You will get more efficient as you go I wouldn't be surprised if this route goes down to two hours or less.
We will see, I have high hopes for this coming Monday.

What hitch is that specifically Brad? We wear the same belt, Grip6?
Weigh safe 10" adjustable drop hitch. Grip6 all the way! :D
get rid of wood till u need it ...and smaller bags ?
Smaller bags won't fit the trash cans. They are 95 gallon bags and 96 gallon cans.
oh yeah i have been there!
Glad it's not just me!
In a perfect world, they ask you to come do a $300 mowing job the day after trash day 😉
Haha, that's the spirit!
Why would you not require the customer to bag all their trash? Where is that not standard
I do, it's in the agreement they sign. But that doesn't mean everyone in the household knows or cares.
Interesting video.
Thank you!
Inspiring
Thanks!
You need to be passing that cost of the liners to the customer.
This hurt my back just watching it.
Imagine how I felt!
