I love how sometimes they get so caught up in flattery or other little side items to build credibility or trust that they just don’t get to the scam
They're anticipating those people to call back.
I used to get these calls all the time. If you can rattle them and knock them off their script, sometimes they forget who they're supposed to be impersonating! 🤣 Get them to curse at you, then tell them you'll report them to their supervisor, and suddenly they'll remember they're supposed to be tech support, not a belligerent scammer! They'll often apologize profusely. They need to take a drama class or two to learn how to stay in character!

I’m 68 and was hacked in February- these scammers are cruel to us older people!! I don’t even want to answer my phone and deleted my gmail!! Wiped out my bank, our business acct and savings - I just wanted to die - I couldn’t believe what I had done!!!! So ashamed!!

I never answer my phone unless I know the number that’s actually programmed into my phone. (Friends, family, Doctors etc.)
And I Google that phone number to see what comes up. Scam numbers usually come up as unknowing or it’ll be in another language and not English.

When he went through the accusations I honestly cried. That's just cruel and exploitative to go as far as accusing an innocent old lady of funding all these horrible organized crimes.
I'm 21 and very savvy to sniffing out scams. But if I got a call from the FBI saying I've been funding all this crime, I would freak out too even with all the issues. Good on you man for continuing on, I would have hung up once they started doing that.

Government agencies don't call you for money or personal info. And if you committed a crime like that, the FBI would be at yo house, not on the phone.

Alternatively: the FBI wont be calling you about a crime bud. They will break into your house and take you during the night.

I had a friend call me today, she was worried because she was left a call by Amazon about some money she owed. She was really worried and wanted to know how she should contact them to find out what it was about. I tried very hard to convince her to ignore it and to explain that these things are scams. I told her to wait until they send her a letter explaining the bill and then to take the letter to myself or her son before she parts with any information. It is very frightening to see how vulnerable some people can be. Thank you for all you do. Jan
Mark left a reminder for us to be proactive and help our elderly friends and family, because they're the ones most vulnerable. The Amazon thing is kind of a recent thing, based on the fake voicemails I've been getting on my phone lately, but remember they're always out there saying "Your son/brother/daughter, etc is in trouble, so I need you to send X amount of money to 'Such and such address.'"

I made the call through Amazon's website with their call-back feature, so I know for sure it was one of their agents.

An elderly neighbor of mine who had dementia was repeatedly harassed for weeks by people claiming to be the IRS and threatened to come and harm her. She sat in the hallway of our building for hours and hours every day, because she thought if she was in the house where her phone was, they would come and kill her. She has since passed away.
