What do you mean by 'rounded' and 'unrounded' vowels sounds?

It's the shape of the lips,. When we say the vowel i: our lips are widened (unrounded), but when we say the phoneme u: our lips form an O, i.e. they are rounded

the artist well, they're pronounced:
/wɜːd/ and /wɪəd/ While one has a vowel, the other has a diphthong in the middle. So the word "weird" has one 'excessive' vowel.
