El Niño floods in Somalia recede as the devastating aftermath increase

El Niño-induced floods are dropping below flood risk in Dollow and Luuq in Gedo region, Bualle in Middle Juba and Jowhar in Middle Shabelle. However, river levels in key flood affected districts like Bardheere, Beletweyne and Buloburto, remain at bankfull, largely due to the late onset and magnitude of the flood water from the Ethiopian Highlands.
Emergency teams are performing a rapid response to help families recover and get back to their homes. Disease outbreak and hunger are looming. While we thank donors like USAID for their contribution, funding needs remain high.
