After entering nursing school with a 4.0 GPA I am barely pulling B's and C's after studying night and day. I've been reading and re-reading my text books trying to force various concepts to sink in. Based on Critical thinking, it includes two main points which is Planning ahead and connecting the dots to everything. Always planning on how to make a next move, supplies, food, gowns, assessments, give meds, flush ivy’s whenever u walked into the patients room. Connecting the dots has to do with comparing and contrasting everything of disease process, effects, and symptoms. An example of connecting the dots is ( begin with; D- definition or description of the topic R- reason for the topic ( rationelle on why it happened ) C- Connection to everything that happenes ) Example of a cardiac system: describe the cardiac system, gv the reason for the importance of the cardiac system here the blood is rich in nutrients and oxygen and without it the heart will fail, blood take away waste products, how does it connect with everything, it affects two main areas which are the lungs and the kidney . It sends blood to this body parts and if blood is pumping well, they function normally but if blood doesn’t pump appropriately it causes disorders beginning with the lungs and the kidney hence will be filled with fluid in the lungs and u will hear crackles, when u use your stethoscope 🩺, Patient will have problems breathing due to inappropriate gas exchange. On the cardiac side, if blood isn’t going to the rest of the body including the kidney, nurse is expected to see? There will be a decrease in the iron output, this will cause a difficulty in determining patients pulses, hands will be cold too.
I personally keep reading ma text books nyt and day and even have discussions with my colleagues but ive actually realised that am understanding little and cramming alot but thank God after resorting to watching ur videos am now understanding to de climax....Am hoping to be a shining nurse in both school and clinical world

I would like to add that as a key part of critical thinking is clear and direct awareness of the *complete* list of cognitive biases, memory biases, and logical fallacies. Obviously not memorized but you should have read the entire thing to get a feel for exactly how little confidence we should have in our logical reasoning. We aren't really doing critical thinking if we aren't aware of quite a bit of detail on the pitfalls of critical thinking.
