At least you don’t have a spouse and kids while still living at home with your parents. It is disappointing and frustrating, though. I know people in their 40s still living with their parents or having their parents subsidize their rents. Wages have stagnated since the ‘80s, but the cost of everything has gone up and the dollar loses value every day. Housing (rent, mortgage) is ridiculously expensive, it is very hard to keep a job unless you are in a termination proof union and tenured/seniority position, often obtained through nepotism or buying your way in. It’s ridiculous, work hard enough to afford gas to go to work. Hang in there, I wish you the best.
Me too brother, same age, same situation except my son is here too. My sister is a doctor living in Colorado with a house, job, fiance who's a flight medic LOL
Hell of a lot better then living with bad roommates. The most important thing to consider is: The massive self-esteem boost you'll get from paying your own way. That alone will put you light-years ahead of the crowd. 99% of a job is simply showing up. Show up even if the job sucks. You're just there to make money. Get all the hours you can to pay your bills. Get side-gig for indulgences. Manage the two. Managing your finances is all about maintaining an equilibrium. Rent is #1. When you're your own man, the world is at your command. When you have your own place, you make the rules. Wanna drink a beer buck naked out of the shower? Do it. Wanna have a few buddies over to watch a game? Done. Wanna have that special lady over for the night? It's on.
yup you don't even need a big place studios apartments are fine if your not married with kids. When you got your own place you can do what ever you want.
Nothing wrong with being with your parents man, especially with the crazy world we are in/ cost of living etc. I reckon stay as long as you can if you have a good relationship with them, but definitely keep looking for a job or even volunteer/ have stuff to do each day.
I’m doing it too. I’ve actually owned my own house before too. A really bad break up with a fiancé sent me into hardcore dope abuse and I wound up with the rents It happens It’s impossible to save renting on your own these days

Could be worse, you could be homeless living under a bridge or a tent. I have a friend who lost everything in the past year , almost died from a infection. He has no safety net because both his parents are dead and hes your age. About 33. He worked hard to try to not wind up on the street and he has the help of his friends to help him stay afloat financially because you get hired for a job, get let go , apply for other jobs and try to get hired. He can't even get disability even thou he lost his big toe from his hospitalization and now needs a cane to walk. If you have a roof over your head and no rent to pay your very fortunate. It's rough out there
From a fellow 33 year old, just try and get any kind of employment you can get. Save. Save. Save. If you have debts, pay it off as soon as possible. This is a shit economy, and I am on the precipice of homelessness myself. I am one missed paycheck away from that. Get life insurance. If nothing else, we need to make sure that if things don't go well with our health, that we become a financial burden to our families. Now being 33, you still have 2 years to join the military. Start working out, 2-3 hours a day. Make it your thing even if it isn't. Enlist in something that gets a bonus. I did one time in, and if it gets bad, I will go back in.
28 here, living with my parents but nothing strange with this where i'm from (Eastern Europe), most of us own our houses, so no rent to pay, only bills. Got a job btw.
Don't worry. I lived with my parents until my early 30s. Then I suddenly launched a career and now decades later I look back and literally forget that if you had seen me before age 33, you probably would've thought he's going nowhere. It seems now like it never happened that way. Ironically my dad didn't get HIS stuff together until he was 40 but did well for himself after that point.
I blame the government, the people voting against their interests, and people that ignore politics. We live in a Plutocracy/ corporate dictatorship. This mainstream mindset makes me depressed.
There is nothing wrong w your parents helping you out. It is so brutal out here. I don't think it comes down to luck, some people just have resources more readily available and that may be a supportive family for example.
yeah, but you forgot mention why average retention there is 3 - 12 months, it's mindfuck and torture. Then employers see you job hopping too much on CV and looks even worse than long break.

Happy 33rd Birthday. 🎂
Same but im 26
Disability usually takes years and multiple applications. I wouldn't bet on getting that amy time soon. Good luck with everything man.
They only give you $700 a month plus that’s just poverty 🤣 that won’t pay rent
Nothing wrong with being with your parents man, especially with the crazy world we are in/ cost of living etc. I reckon stay as long as you can if you have a good relationship with them, but definitely keep looking for a job or even volunteer/ have stuff to do each day.
I’m doing it too.
I’ve actually owned my own house before too. A really bad break up with a fiancé sent me into hardcore dope abuse and I wound up with the rents
It happens
It’s impossible to save renting on your own these days
Especially when you're getting high with most of the rent money 🙄🙄

Yea, especially if you need a lot of medical attention. You leave here and lose your insurance.
At least MOST people in America speak English, you don't want to go somewhere new where you can't communicate.
Actually i live in scandinavia and if you dont mind cold weather the quality of life here is pretty good for the average joe or even poor people but the language could be a issue to learn but most of us speak "decent" english except me im bad at english 😅

@@joshuahabram1628 yeah i only travelled to america once and it was interesting to see the culture different maybe its a big difference from state to state (i know america is big) but for the people i meet and talked to on a bit "depper level" alot of them was worried about health incurance and to end up broke.
Dont get me wrong we have hardship in sweden where i live but not alot of people here arent as afraid of being broke because atleast we have an system that make you not destitute if you fail at finding a job/getting money.
And yeah sometimes im pissed at what my taxes goes too but averall i think its been good i didnt need to go in dept for my education and inget 5 weeks of from work every year and alot of other things that we take for granted.
Some people sees this as a flaw in sweden that we have to pay high taxes but i have worked all my life and i dont have anything against paying high taxes as long as i dont see alot of people being destituted because i know life could happen to everyone.
But yeah america seems great if everything in your life line up perfect and you get a good career and never fall in bad times.
(Sry for my english i try my best)
One thing for sure is that keep trying to find a decent job. Otherwise you get too comfortable. Its fine living with parents if the home allows it. You'll need money for expenses, education, and if maybe one day happens, your own family. Money is very important in this day and age.

It's rough out there
I feel you, man ❤
From a fellow 33 year old, just try and get any kind of employment you can get. Save. Save.
Do something instead of talking about it
