    Great video man! Extremely thorough and helpful. Couldn’t find any cleaning videos for the LCR. Im about to get my first one and I wanted to make sure the process wasn’t extremely tedious. It truly is a beautiful little gun.

    I have run a bore snake through a barrel 5 times. Then I ran a bore brush then a patch with hoppies you should have seen the foulings that came out. I don’t use snakes anymore. Thanks.

    Just bought the LCR for Conceal Carry. Just a novice question as I don't know. I'm old school Hoppes #9 and Lube. Seems like you are using oil / lube in place of the cleaner. Is this right?

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is correct! However, Hoppes is a great way to clean, this is just another option!

    Any thoughts on lubing the cylinder latch?

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is not addressed in the manual, so I would leave it be unless it is binding, then maybe a tiny drop of oil in the gap under the latch.

    Where can u get the brush that you are using for cleaning? Most brushes are straight. Would like that small end that is angled shaped. Like you’re using. Thanks

      I found out that the brush I have been using is actually a dog toothbrush! It is holding up really well. I have used it on dozens of guns and have not had a bristle come off yet. Here is a link for a similar brush: Dog Toothbrushes (like the one in the video): amzn.to/49YeWWI

    How do you clean the bore snake ?

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can put it in a pillow case and throw it in the washing machine. Or just wash by hand in some dishwashing liquid but be sure to rinse well and hang to dry.

    You’re putting the oil in the wrong side of the hammer housing lube port.

    Way too much oil on that gun. The only oil you should ever use on an LCR is the one spot recommended by Ruger and that should only be every 3 to 4 thousand rounds. Oil just attracts dirt and builds up scum. You don't need to oil where you are oiling.
    Almost every gun owner over oils their guns which leads to problems in function. You don't need solvent either. a good brass brush and a brass bore brush will be all you need drop all the liquids which will only lead to more powder fouling sticking to your gun. This is a really poor cleaning video.

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your input! The Ruger manual does recommend using solvent. I agree that excessive lubrication is not good, however the two additional places I added an extremely minimal amount of oil are metal on metal moving parts where oil not only helps things work smoother, but also prevents corrosion. I do appreciate you taking the time to add input to the comments!
