    Very informative about the YABBIES. Keep it up Leigh, good content

      Ripper Mate. The Yabbies are breeding like crazy & we'd fallen behind a bit looking after the goats.
      Today we finished relocating all the batches from our 9 hatching tanks & now their full again with pregnant females!
      Super busy mate.
      Hope you're doing good fella. I'm so far behind on all 3 of your lads content!

    Hi, Leigh and Toon, It's really come together now, it's looking amazing for you.
    The new tanks with the sand banks is a really good idea, that nearly rimmed, 😂.
    But that will dirty up the tanks and give you more work to do, I think.

    • @TLFarm
      @TLFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate. We're constantly looking at different set ups for our various crayfish tanks.
      The sand creates an environment for beneficial bacteria to grow die to its surface.
      The crayfish love it 😉😉😉

      @ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand Good morning, mate, that's awesome. If the crawfish like it, it's only a good thing. Make it as nice as it can for them.

      Thank you Santi. With your similar climate you shouldn't have too many issues. Are you using tanks or ponds or both?

      If you let they go on the grower pond the crayfish will not escape in the pond because this crayfish is great escaper right they will escape because no block in your pond

    wow this is so great.
    i'm really into crayfish.
    unfortunately I don't have a farm nor own property.
    i will have to do more research but you inspired me to try it with breeding these guys.
    maybe i can reach out to you for additional advice if i get started.
    maybe you could give some tips for starting with plastic tanks and what to consider on this level for total beginners which dont have your setup or property.
    greetings from germany and keep up the awesome work! :)

    How does it take for the crays to be large enough for eating?

    • @TLFarm
      @TLFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      About a year is best for good meat content (100g+).
      There are suppliers who sell them at about 40g for the table..... to fiddly to peel those little things Lol!

    How deep is the water on the ponds?

    • @TLFarm
      @TLFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our grow out pond is too deep lol.
      It's an old tilapia pond that is the rainy season is 4.5m deep & in the dryest of dry seasons about 1-1.5m.
      Because of it being so deep the water temperature is usually too cold for them to breed comfortably.
      Ideal depth is 1.5m.
      We're looking to creating a few shallower ponds for them to breed outside.

    Something I would love to see is a styrofoam raft with holes to grow fast growing greens. (leaf lettuce for exp.) To see if you can grow a leafy vegetable for the table as well as feeding the young crayfish. I haven't had a chance to do this myself and would love to see if it is viable in your tanks or if the babies eat them so fast that it's not.

    • @TLFarm
      @TLFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm absolutely sure that would work MrWako. Only issue I see is that we'd have to raise the water level in the tank and have a mesh barrier around the plant roots.
      Something for the future maybe 👍👍👍
