Cheers Gav. They taste fantastic mate. To us, they're better than shrimp, prawns, crab & even lobster. That's not us being biased. The meat is so sweet & creamy. There's also lots of fat in the heads. People miss out if they only eat the tails.
Would i be able to grow them all in one pool? I would be eating them 24/7 as they grow older so it wouldnt overrun the pool right? Its a 10 by 30 and i might buy two so that i can move the crawfish and sort through them to get the big ones. Also its like 5-6 people eating them so i would probably get more pools later cuz we can eat about 6 pounds each if we put our mind to it.
Thanks for your patience, it's much appreciated by Toon & myself. We understand that the majority of our viewers have subscribed to our channel due to us raising crayfish. Sometimes they have to take a backseat because of our goat herd numbers. Cheers Leigh and Toon.
The crayfish like to crawl in to spaces and holes , do you take any measures to avoid that the ( Little ) crayfish is getting sucked out the pound by the waterpump and getting out in the open world . If i remember correctly you cant release crayfish there ( our anywhere ) because they are a pest for the native spieces and destroy them .
Good point there. The water pump is only used to pump water into the tanks to top them up. We always position the outlet above the water to add a bit more oxygen. The flow is also too strong for the crayfish to get a grip. If the pipe was submerged & the flow reduced right down then crayfish would definitely make a beeline for it. They love to crawl against a steady flow. In fact it's an effective way of collecting large numbers when draining an outside pond. Take the water out, then run a hose pipe at a steady flow down a slope. The crayfish climb up it & drop into a bucket!
Cheers buddy. The Yabbies, unfortunately, had taken a bit of a backseat with our goat herd numbers expanding so much. Now we're right back up to breeding capacity with our current set-up.
Yes indeed. Unfortunately, our grow-out pond is an old tilapia pond that's so deep the water temperature is too low for the crayfsh to want to breed. They grow fine in there but don't reproduce in any great numbers unless we pump.most of the water out & keep the level low.
Toon did our best to quell the Signal crayfish numbers in the river Lea but damn those things are out of control! Same in some of the big carp lakes in France. It's something that the Fisheries Department of Thailand take seriously. Can't remember now whether it was 3 or 4 officers visited us for our inspection. The main focus was on preventing escapees. Unfortunately, many people don't take precautions. We're sure one day they'll get in somewhere that doesn't dry out, or get drained, or electric shocked and take hold. Heck, crocodiles get out from time to time here in Thailand, so Yabbies, just a matter of time. OR they're already out there? 🤔
Same in the Philippines. More and more backyard crawfish farmers are sprawling trying to make ends meet and probably no rules at all. I believe crawfish now are in some waterways in the Philippines. These will be hard to control. Even here in the California; crawfish are now live and multiplying in some creeks, rivers, and lake including Lake Tahoe. Crawfish is not native in California I believe. But hey with dwindling seafoods; this will be a new source of food for the locals especially in the Philippines and some other developing countries.
Always a good day when Toon and Leigh drop a new video, cheers guys
Thanks for that Martin. A crayfish video was way overdue!
You two sure put some efforts into your farm! Love your videos and thanks for sharing this one! Good luck with the crayfish 😊
Thank you muchly. These are so tasty they're worth the effort 👍
Hi Legh and Toon, There is never a dull moment when Toon is around, 😂. She makes me proper belly laugh.
Me too mate. There's rarely a day that passes without Toon cracking me up.
Nice to see Toon back on her feet and helping you Leigh 😀
I took her hammock down & hid it until she finished helping me 🤣🤣🤣
Great to see you both doing videos again. Was wondering how the crayfish were doing.
Thank Steve. Yep we both always enjoy doing TH-cam videos together whenever possible. The crayfish are doing g8!
Have never eaten Yabbies not sure if I would like them but I do love an update on the progress of them on your farm.

Doc Brown designed your solar pump? Maybe I will look at it when I come Back In The Future 🤩
I master of words you are.
Going to fit a bigger Hyperdrive later today. That'll really ramp things up 😉

Nice one again, love your pump .
Thanks Chris, it's been an absolute godsend on the farm 💪
Nice vid thanks. Love your variety
Cheers mate. I think it's a duo video about our farmstays up next.

Sir how deep your pond for the cray fish?

Wow she is good with the catches!
Thanks. Toon's got a few years of practice under her belt 👍👍👍
Do you have any cooks any more
We had some huge orders this year so we've been resisting the temptation of a Yabby BBQ!
Hi can you ship your crawfish international?
Not at the moment but we're looking into it.
Do you get a lot of mosquitos
Zero mozzies in the crayfish tanks mate. We always pop in a few guppies. We try only to put males in because they breed so prolifically.
Thankyou
Hi Leigh . Did you choose Crayfish over Frogs
Well we tried both & crayfish won hands down lol.
@@TLFarm Thankyou
Looking good guys
Thanks Dave, been meaning to do a crayfish upload for aaaaaaages lol.

Thanks James, much appreciated here 👍👍👍
Don't suppose you've heard of Wayne an meme. Took his channel down. Vanished! Used to enjoy him. Hope he's well
I saw their thumbnails a few times. Did YT take his channel down or he did, do you know?
Keep posting crayfish video. Now experiment at home. Im from the philippines.
That's great. There's so many different variations in set-ups to raise them. It's very interesting to see what suits us best.
Thank you ❤very interest information ❤Latvia ❤
Thank you so much. I think you're the first person to leave us a comment all the way from Latvia! 👍👍👍
Hi you 2 me again sent your TH-cam video to my beautiful wife to be and she asked me what province you live in
Hi Mark, we are in Thailand's hidden gem that is the province of Kamphaeng Phet 😉
You know they can live in deep water i've seen it they can swim
Yes indeed. Unfortunately, our grow-out pond is an old tilapia pond that's so deep the water temperature is too low for the crayfsh to want to breed.

Easy to breed but a bastard when they escape into the rivers and lakes. Kin things are a curse in the UK lakes and rivers. Ditto mink and otters.
