    @PDoubleE I used to have a ZS 180 and a 620Ti loved the noise and smoothness of the V6 and the ZS felt a lot more sporty. Although there wasn't much in it when you raced them side by side, that TI just felt so much faster. Can't beat the kick up the arse power deliver of the T16 Vs the KV6. Love the ZS 180 though, wouldn't of minded a super charger, but I always though If I put the T16 in the ZS, I'd have the best of both worlds. In the end I built a ZR trubo which is a whole nother ball park

    I had a MG ZR 2.0 it looked brilliant , but the guy I got it off had took the piss and the head gasket had blown. It also needed a new bonnet as the clasp that kept it shut was rusty as hell , I put bonnet clips on , I wanted to get it fixed but I didn't have the money. I took it out a couple of times for short distances , I tell you something I would love to have driven it when it was not buggered as it was quite fast when the turbo kicked in!

    The T series engine never had a head gasket issue, it was only the K series that did... easily solved with a MLS gasket.

      Yep I bought a 1.8 160bhp facelift ZR for my first car the otherday, 15 years of history, 5 years being taken to lotus which specialise in the k series engine. And in that record about 6 years ago it had a mls head gasket, new head bolts and a replacement oil tray installed.

    The Evo still won but that was impressive. There has to be more to it than just a T series conversion. You can see a front mounted inter-cooler

      The stock T16 Turbo lump responds well to a couple of simple bolt on mods.
      T28 turbocharger, turbo back exhaust and an FMIC will see around 250bhp at standard boost. My old 420 Turbos with the same mods were awesomely quick and surprised a lot of things. Fun cars!
      An Impreza or Evo with 300bhp would be a good match for a 250bhp Rover Turbo.

      @@boywarrick stock evos come with more than 250hp and they are awd they will beat a 250hp rover anyday of the week they are faster of the line and faster in the high end i have no fucking clue what the evo driver is doing in the video but its not driving Rovers are fantastic cars and fun to drive if you get the right one but a rover will never beat an evo in a straight line or on the track and thats just a fact, to even think that an awd drive car with more horsepower would lose to a car with alot less horsepower and torque but fwd in a straight line is fanboy levels of stupid, the subaru on the other hand is in the same boat awd and faster than a rover in the low end and high end, your comment is stupid and makes no sense.

    • @boywarrick
      @boywarrick 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@incandescentadolescents1889 You call me stupid yet don't understand basic physics? Power to weight and drivetrain loses define performance, not outright power figures. Let's say for arguments sake that you took a 280bhp AWD Evo weighing 1400kg and a 280bhp FWD Rover Turbo weighing 1250kg. Providing the FWD car has no issues with wheel slip/spin, it WILL be quicker. It has similar power and torque, less weight and less drivetrain drag. There's no trickery going on. The lighter car requires less momentum to move the weight and has less losses through its transmission.
      Now, let's say that the Evo has 300bhp @ 1400kg and the Rover 250bhp @ 1280. AWD drivetrain losses are about 20% and about 12% for a FWD car. The Evo loses 60bhp through the tranny, so 240bhp to the road. The Rover about 30bhp, so 220bhp. Notice I never ever said a 250bhp would BEAT an Evo, just that it would be a good match for it. They're both putting down similar power to the road but the Rover has less mass. I'm not an idiot, I know a FWD car is no match for an AWD on a hard launch, but when rolling the 300bhp Evo would not pull away from the Rover. A 150bhp car may leave one with 100bhp standing, but as the base power figures increase, it takes a LOT more power to make a noticable difference in acceleration.
      I could be talking shite though. I'll just ignore the last X number of years I've spent driving, modifiying and racing cars of varying power levels, weights and transmissions. Do you have any direct experience of drag racing a 300bhp Evo vs a 250bhp Rover Turbo? I have plenty and can absolutely 100% confirm that a 300bhp Evo/Impreza/(insert generic Jap AWD car here) is a very good and fair match for a 250bhp FWD Rover Turbo in terms of outright acceleration.
      You're also right in saying I'm a massive Rover fanboy. I've had many and even to this day, still own a 250bhp Rover Turbo. I'm also a massive Subaru fanboy and own an Impreza STi as well. So while you're sitting there calling me a fanboy with my 'stupid' comments, also understand that I have the ability to drive these cars on a regular basis and am able to gauge the performance based on REAL WORLD experience.
      Where's yours?

    What have you done to your VVC to get 190?
    I have a piper VVC exhaust cam, fully ported head incl port-matched inlet manifold, Z&F stage 2 remap and full janspeed head to back (manifold and cat). That should fetch 180bhp and is about the max you can get out of the VVC without touching the bottom end.
